  1. I am sure Mikey's flag doesn't have a label. Only because I remember that as one of my favourite "discussions" with stewards. At perth the steward wanted the flag down because of fire regulations. I only pointed out that my trousers didn't have a fire retardent label and asked if I should take them off. It all went downhill after that!!

  3. Nobody is saying they will move everything south. Call centres etc will stay here, along with whatever infrastructure is needed to serve their Scottish customers. It's nothing to do with the mainstream media by the way, as even they don't appreciate the scale of what would happen and all the knock on effects. It's just common sense that financial institutions will relocate their head offices and other key functions, to meet the needs of their customers and their shareholders. Do customers (mostly living in England) really want their pensions and investments held in a foreign country? With an unproven regulatory framework? With a different currency perhaps? With a government that doesn't have the appetite or the resources to resolve the next crisis? The shareholders have similar concerns, and in the case of RBS the major shareholder is course the rUK government, who will do whatever is best to protect and control their substantial investment and that will involve having it based in their own jurisdiction. This isn't scaremongering, it's just how business works. The fact that an English airline reckons it might make higher profit from its Scottish customers isn't really any consolation. Most of them are not necessarily moving anything, though...whatever the impression being given by the MSM. Contingency plans don't indicate definitely but do indicate " just in case" It's not a great deal different in 2014 than it was before the 1997 devolution referendum.....and Standard Life, who was threatening to leave then, have stuck around to threaten to leave again.....maybe. For large multinational Companies, like Shell, it is not uncommon to operate different companies in different countries, all under the one umbrella. It's perfectly natural and, in some countries, is actually a requirement. And Shell seems to be more worried abut the In/Out of the EU vote which has been promised in 2017 than Scottish Independence. we have started work to establish additional companies registered in England, in order to provide operational flexibility and to complement our existing business in Scotland." Alliance Trust : "If anything were to threaten this, we will take whatever action we consider necessary - including transferring parts of our operations from Scotland - in order to ensure continuity and to protect the interests of our stakeholders." Standard Life So if it wasn't for the NO to a Monetary Union from the Three Stooges, they wouldn't even be contemplating a flit. But, to be fair, the S&P Report appears to think that it would be a good idea for Scotland to lose some of the risky financial sector..so some movement south by parts of some financial services would perhaps not be as unwelcome as it appears on the face of it. . Not sure why you choose Shell Oddquine. They dont have headquarters in Scotland. Nor do BP They have offices to support their North Sea Operation and their biggest part of those operations was sold off before the SNP came to power. On saying that, and knowing all about the effects of Scottish Independence, niether of those two majors have stopped investing in Scottish waters. Indeed both have increased spending and have indicated they will continue to do so over the next five years. The Chinese, who bought over Canada's Nexon Corporation have also, recently, pledged more investment in Scottish waters. These alone should tell the world exactly why Westminster is so keen to hold on to us. And more especially why they lie through the teeth about the future prospects of North Sea Oil. There are enough known reserves around our shores to last a very long time. It just needs the technology development to retreave it from our deepwater, unpredictable seas. And thats not far away As for the banks, if they choose to move their headquarters then so be it. they still have custom in Scotland and they will still make profit from Scotland so they will still pay taxes in Scotland. And I'll wager that if currency union doesn't happen they'll all be creeping back to bid for the Central bank opportunity. For all those institutions who are threatening to pull out there are as many happy to stay and many of those threatening will also stay for the reduced level of corporation tax that Charles omitted from his selective list a few posts ago.

  7. We've switched from a back four with two defensive midfielders to a back four with no defensive midfielders. Hence, the heavy defeats. It's not an unexplainable loss of form.

  8. To the Caley Thistle faithful, I have a Celtic bar 2 mins walk from the stadium. I am looking to make my bar the official home for your good natured fans come the big day. I will open all day long just for Caley thistle fans, good music and a large selection of drinks. We are called 'Paradise Bar' and are located at 65 tollcross road, Glasgow. Good luck and enjoy the day!

  9. Hi all, Aberdeen supporter here in peace. Have been browsing your forum in the build up to the big game on Sunday. And have been keeping an eye on the results for obvious reasons. A couple of points though as to why I signed up. Firstly, I think it's an excellent sight seeing 2 non-old firm teams in a final. Especially given the resources Celtic have over the rest of us, it pleases me greatly. Secondly, Easy for me to say I guess, but I wouldn't read too much into your last couple of results, a final as you will know is a big occasion and a one off game. Anything can happen. Thirdly, I have been a bit disappointed that a few posters on here are under the impression we feel all we need to do is turn up and win the final. Granted, every set of support will have the odd idiot who will make claims such as the one I just mentioned, but I'd like to point out the majority of us are well aware that this is going to be a very tight game. It really could go either way, we both have players that on their day, will hurt opposition. We need Hayes, Rooney, McGinn and Pawlett to be at their very best whilst keeping tight at the back, whereas, If Doran, Ross & McKay play to their maximum, we will have plenty to worry about. Add to that, I'm a huge fan of Greg Tansey, and from what I can gather, he's been one of the better players since re-signing recently. No-one is just going to turn up and win this final gents(and ladies?) And I for one, am pretty nervous. However, I sincerely hope that the best team wins the cup on the day, and whilst I hope it is ourselves, if not, then ICT will get my congratulations. Anyway, all the best guys, seriously. See you on Sunday :)

  10. Brill Raven Meekings Devine Shinnie Foran Draper Watkins Tansey Williams Mckay Subs: Esson, Tremarco, Vincent, Christie, Ross If Aaron Doran is fit to play then instead of Watkins and drop Watkins to the bench. It may be easy to say start a fresh Marley Watkins but I feel if we bring him on as an impact sub like we did at Ross County it would be good!

  11. Folks, as things stand we have a lot of bookings that have not translated into payment. We really need you to pay these before next sunday or we risk losing money that we can Ill afford. Come and pay at the stadium or on the website through PayPal, but please do pay. If any of you have friends who are not on cto but are going with us to the final, please ask them if they have paid. Thanks for your support.

  18. Above is correct as I was at at 1 off the venues and players informed venue last week they would not be available so nothing to do with result. As a result of the confusion the club have agreed to send players to schools on Thursday. We all know the club is good in the community and nothing has changed.

  19. If I was an Aberdeen fan and all our allocated tickets were up of course id be trying to get into the other end. Watching the game in another end is still better than not watching it at all. I don't blame Aberdeen fans for doing this at all.

  22. I think it's slightly, nay bloody unfortunate that you guys need to play a midweek game before a cup final, but hey, that's typical of the Scottish football blazer mob eh? however, I am a Hibby and hope my team can at least get something out of tonight's game. wish I could be there, but work commitments rule it out.to get a win in the Highlands, for us is a bonus, given the absolute keek that we've performed over the years up there! anyway guys, I only came on here this morning to wish you all a great day for the league cup final, although a good result for us hibees. get tore intae that mob o' sheep at the weekend, and I hope that divin' barsteward they have up front,(Pawlett ?) get's sent aff. go on ICT.

  25. Nice try Red Chappie but you blew it by making reference to all your Inverness based fans having used their allocation. There were no such restrictions. For what it's worth, I sympathise and personally believe your fans should have been given more tickets.

  27. Meekings was terrible for those 1st 2 goals. Caught badly out of position for the 1st and put all the pressure on the keeper for the 2nd. True, Brill could have just kicked it out, but so could Meekings, instead of the backpass. He had no chance with the penalty and little with the others. Only really one of 4 goals he can really be blamed for. The same with the Celtic game. But when you're getting peppered with shots with no real protection there's always the chance you might make one mistake. Goalies are in the worst position for blame as 1 mistake can lead to a goal against so easily. But Brill has been, well, brill' this season and 1 or 2 errors do not change this. He has been a great signing considering he was relatively unknown. Even the best make mistakes.

  29. I entirely agree with Oddquine that the forthcoming referendum is not an election and certainly not a vote either for or against the SNP and, in the event of a yes vote it's far from certain that the SNP would form the first administration which is much more likely to be a broadly centre left coalition. Where I differ from former SNP member Oddquine is that whilst, since ever I was old enough to form a considered view, I have been a supporter of and advocate for independence but never much of a fan of the SNP. However, I have to say that since the Nats came to power I have been largely impressed with the way they have dealt with matters and the economy in particular during turbulent economic times particularly given the very limited grip on the fiscal levers the Scottish Government are allowed under the current devolution settlement. I believe that the unassuming John Swinney in particular is one of the shrewdest and underrated politicians in the land. A decade ago I would not have voted SNP in an elections for an independent Scottish parliament and would, in all probability, have voted Lib Dem. If an election was held post yes vote now I would very likely vote SNP not on the basis of nationalist (with a small n) sentiment but on their competent record in power over the last several years.

  31. Personally, I think it's a great shame that Aberdeen haven't been allocated the upper section as it's very clear now we are not going to need it. When Scottish football needs all the fans it can get there are now going to be thousands of fans who want to attend who are going to miss out at the same time as there being thousands of empty seats. Parkhead would have been all but full with an even better cup final atmosphere and, crucially at a time when the game in general is short of funds and ICT is no exception, we would have pocketed another £50,000 or more.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.
