  3. The Courier article today suggests that Danny Devine is keen to sign a new deal. Interestingly, it also says that Tarmo Kink has not signed officially at this moment.

  4. I am in the 'nay' camp too. Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales are all separate entities under FIFA and that's how it should stay. Its nothing political, pro-independence or anti-English from me, just my opinion. I also think comparisons to rugby or other sports are irrelevant and dangerous as for many years Sepp Blatter and those of his ilk in both FIFA and UEFA have been trying desperately to cut the influence and alleged "power" the four home nations have by having these four voices and permanent positions on the executive reduced or removed ..... in Mr Blatter's own words when referencing the idea of a 'British' team for the 2012 Olympics .... "If you start to put together a combined team for the Olympics, the question will automatically come up that there are four different associations so how can they play in one team? If this is the case then why the hell do they have four associations and four votes and their own vice-presidency? This will put into question all the privileges that the British associations have been given by the Congress in 1946."

  5. For once, I find myself agreeing with Laurence at least in three aspects out of four. I rather suspect that County's presence in the top division has a somewhat negative effect on our finances especially now that fewer of their fans seem to attend the TCS but, in my view, that is more than balanced by the other factors.

  7. If you were not so obsessed with your risible attempts at stereotyping or professing support for a party one of who's spokespeople 'only has issues with negroes' it might not have escaped your attention that there is more than one poster on this thread who has, in other fora, expressed support for independence. I have encountered few if any Nationalists who are in the least narrow minded far less so warped as to take delight in failure at a quintessentially English sport which, world wide, has almost as many followers and active participants as football.

  10. Absolutely agree but there are a number of things that stands Hillsborough out that should take this all terracing is dangerous debate. It was a tragedy that could have been avoided as we all know there was major flaws with the ground and the policing. The actual terrace in question the leppings lane end had hosted plenty of games including the same fixture in the same competition and round 12 months earlier and it went off without a problem. The biggest issue was when the exit gate was opened to stop the pressure outside the turnstiles the gates to the tunnel to enter the terrace should have been shut as it was already very full that would have stopped any problems. Also the presence of the perimeter fencing because of the era of hooliganism caused it. Had that not been there fans would have spilled onto the pitch and simply move into the areas where they was more space. So it was less the fault of the ground but the issues i have highlighted but what it did do was allow English clubs to sort out its stadia with many in a major state of disrepair. The taylor report finding only made it law in England so in theory Scotland dint have to follow but they did because grounds in Scotland were also in major disrepair and needed to be improved. The 10,000 seater rule which almost crippled many clubs was the most foolhardy piece of legislation in Scottish football but I don't understand why clubs our size couldn't keep the terracing. I think both us and county have suffered because of it i mean if you look at the videos of the Caldonian stadium before the stands the atmosphere was better. The terraces we had we not dangerous and lets be honest they wouldn't be hard to police. Anyway that is history we have the stands now but i think we could improve our atmosphere if we could have a form of terracing back.

  11. After my earlier rant on here I thought it would be more constructive to rant to the SFA as they are, after, all, the governing body of football in Scotland. So I wrote to the compliance officer saying that I thought the premeditated and dangerous nature of Ciftci's actions, which appeared to have been made with the intent to harm, warranted a much more serious penalty than the standard red card offences which occur in the heat of the game. I also pointed out that if they fail to distinguish between this type of incident and the more usual type of incident then they will be failing in their duty of upholding "the dignity and reputation" of the the game in Scotland. I don't suppose it will make any difference although if enough people from all clubs took the time to write to request more robust action in stamping down on the worst aspects of cheating in the game, we might just get somewhere.

  13. 10 league games to go so competition can only be good for us if we sign two players with international experience. Eddie looked very good on Saturday so should keep his place this weekend. Marley has to come back so I suspect Danny Williams will drop out. He wasted a glorious chance to give us the lead when he went past the keeper and then gifted it to the keeper. Nick has looked very good recently so Yogi has a difficult decision to make. It would be too risky to bring Tarmo in against Raith because we cannot afford time to adapt to another new player in such a key match. Who knows, we might even get Billy back on loan!!!!

  14. What's with the 'they' ? Surely we are we..... Some people need to get a life..........they......we.... what the fek does it matter, we all know what he means! If Klink signs we now have good striking options which allows Yogi to change the style when needed. Exciting time!

  16. I will be voting for what is best for Scotland regardless of how other parties would like me to vote. The way I see it Tories are for nobody but the rich. Labour are for nobody but themselves. Ukip is a dangerous vote as they ostracise a large portion of the country's population. Greens are too engrossed in the environment that they cant see the wood for the trees. Lib-Dem haven't a clue what their identity is and will bed anyone who offers them a little power. That only leaves the party who are doing a fantastic job of running Scotland.

  17. Scarlet, it is a cool place to stay in many ways I am sure you would settle in fine as it is a city now and we have a great football team to go an support I am currently in Armagh NI at a road race. Two English runners at our BandB asked where we came from. Their immediate response tp our answer was "Ah! Inverness Caledonian Thistle!" Speaks volumes.

  19. The last part of that interview about the personality of signing targets is interesting, and something we tend to not think about as fans when saying who we should sign. It's often said that the great team spirit is a factor behind us punching above our weight and you can understand the manager being careful not to spoil that by bringing in a bad apple. So you might get a good striker who is available and affordable, but if for example he's had 18 clubs and got kicked out of his most recent one because of personality clashes, he's less likely to be what Hughes is looking for. These character references might make it harder for us to make a signing, but you can see where the manager is coming from.

    • Inverness CT -V- Raith Rovers - Preview
The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.

It's Now or Never: That's what Elvis used to say. We are in deep trouble up to our necks with no signs that we can turn this around. Defeat to Arbroath could be the final nail in our coffin with only fifteen points available to us ahead of this game. The play-offs are looking more likely by the minute, but it's not beyond the realms of possibilty that automatic relegation is still an option should Arbroath beat us on Saturday. With the long suffering fans rapidly losing faith in Big Dunc, it's crunch time as Arbroath head North to the venue they won at the last time they were here. Sadly they come to the Caledonian Stadium off the back of a 2-1 midweek defeat to Airdrie, and we could all but relegate them on Saturday with a win. However, that's nothing to gloat about as we could be next...
