  1. That article could only have been written by one of Yogi's many cronies in the central belt media. It didn't take him long to lose the dressing room at Starks Park with his public criticism of the players and also the confidence of their chair who has openly stated that he made a huge error in appointing him. Whatever the answer is, it isn't the return of John Hughes.

  2. Yes, well said! I'd like to thank Kenny for a couple of glorious seasons - I'll take the 2 great days in Hampden in 2015 to the grave..! Also the 3rd place finish and European football. Kenny has always struck me as a decent person & whilst there may have been a couple of wrong directions taken, well, hindsight is a great thing,eh! Thank you Kenny, the past few years have been a blast & will never be taken away from us!!

  3. I suppose that Kenny Cameron’s resignation had a ring of inevitability about it after we were finally relegated. It’s a sad way to end a Chairmanship that delivered a degree of success that might never be bettered. Scottish Cup winners, League Cup finalists, Championship winners and UEFA league qualifiers. That’s a hell of an achievement for what, in anyone’s definition, is a relative football backwater. That all of this was done on the back of a small support and an almost complete absence of financial backing makes it even more noteworthy. I’ve read a lot on here in the past couple of days that bears no resemblance to the man that I know. Uncaring? I’ve witnessed the pain when things have gone wrong. Uninvolved? I’ve seen the tears of utter pride and joy at Hampden. Uncommunicative? Time and again I’ve struggled to get a word in edgeways. There’s a tale of someone fetching up at the stadium looking for a “tour” and being shown around by “this old guy”. Time and again he’s chatted to our mascots, patiently explaining about why we couldn’t sign Messi – at least not this week. He didn’t take a salary. This is not a man who didn’t care. As a former Chair of CJT, he helped us achieve things that we could never have done without his support. He was instrumental in getting funding to charter the trains that took our fans to the League Cup Final against Aberdeen. As far as I know, it’s not been repeated. Any initiative for pricing and ticketing, he always involved us. Sticking up for us against the League’s central belt bias? Every time. I know that Kenny was incredibly well regarded by others in the SPFL as someone who was both engaged and genuine and the club benefited from that influence. However, if things go wrong there are fewer more exposed positions to be in than a football Chairman or Manager and when change happens it’s usually sudden, unpredictable and pretty brutal. That’s where we are right now and why there’s been the amount of anger expressed here over the last few weeks and months. Mistakes have undoubtedly been made but now cool heads are required to identify a clear plan to take us back to the Premiership and this year – of all years – it’s achievable. There is no Rangers, Hibs or Hearts to mount a challenge against and the club will rise to the challenge with the support of all of us, including Kenny’s successor. On a personal note, Kenny was a stranger to me when I first met him through the club. I now count him as a friend and I’m a happy boy that we shared experiences from Glasgow to Bucharest. Enjoy your retirement with Christine. You’ve earned it.

  4. Seriously???. I don't know if the new Chairman will be good or bad but want to hear more from him before judging him. Too many posters seem to think this is the beginning of the end of ICT which it most certainly is not. Agree however that the managerial position must be sorted out asap.

  5. It always interests me how football seems to operate in some parallel universe to the rest of us. In this case, assuming the above hearsay has some substance, surely there are grounds for dismissal thorugh disciplinary procedures? Bullying, harrassment, bringing the cub into disrepute are three possible options. Ask the question whether a manager in your line of work would get away with similar behaviour.

  8. I see that Kenny Cameron has announced he's stepping down as Chairman. Personally I'd like to thank Kenny for his years of service and helping to give me some of the best football memories I have. I've met Kenny on many occasions and he was always a genuine guy who had time to chat and I've never doubted that he had the best interests of the club as heart. All the best in your retirement.

  9. Have the new away top-not keen on the home top at all. Why do we insist on red white & blue as colours-brings a negative image of a certain basket case club from govan...! Swap the white for black & it would be a winner - thats our colours anyway!

  11. Hot this from a source witjin the club. Straight after the Killie game there were people within ICT who wanted Foran to go. He was using the same tactics, unable to change the team & had no plan B. It was like players were not responding to him. One player was very critical of the defensive tactics - zonal marking. It's the man who scores the goals, not the space/area. We had changed from man marking under Hughes to zonal marking under Foran. Goals & the manor of them, same problems every week, points the finger of where the main problem lay. Foran refused the change this tactic. Once heads to down & confidence goes it's hard to get back. Players, coaches & board members raised this same concern with Foran but he stuck to it. Some senior players had been approached by a director about how they felt about taking over the team in the event of Forans sacking. My source told me the players refused to discuss this, as although many weren't happy - Foran was a friend & team mate & wouldn't stab him in the back. My source told me one of the players told Foran of this discussion and co-incendently one of the directors then resigned. After Dundee sacked Hartley, i was told that Foran had been summoned to meet the board. My source told me he thought Foran could be sacked but suspected the club has no money to do this. He also told me that what Foran needed was an older head to hold his hand.... I was told this BEFORE Malpas was confirmed so it shows how good my source was. Both top team goalies were carrying injuries... but Foran ignored advice & signed Ainier - why? Not signing a goalie & playing 2 guys carrying knocks cost ICT many points. It's no coincidence that ICT picked up after Malpas came in. Is that Forans or the board's fault for not acting sooner? Foran talks about bad apples??? Who are they? My source is direct from the dressing room. He told me there is a dressing full of bad apples because very few players liked Forans style, tactics & methods. He couldn't change games. He didn't listen to advice until Malpas came in. These players spoke out about all these issues - not because they're bad apples but because they care about the club. Yes, loan players didn't perform but how could they? The whole team were struggling & didn't agree with much of Forans set up. There was no leadership & players started doing things they thought we're best. Perhaps, in the words of my source... the only bad apple is the person staring back at Foran when he looks in the mirror. 2 young loan players mentioned on the radio on Saturday hated Foran & wanted back to their clubs but Foran refused because the clubs wanted the finances of the loan agreement honoured - regardless of they stayed or not. Fon Williams is the other. He was injured & being forced to play because Esson wasn't ready. He was prepared to take a pay off & walk from his contract. Greg Tansey felt really let down by Foran & the club. He told the club about going to Aberdeen to discuss the pre contract. Aberdeen informed ICT & everything was conducted above board. Tansey had a holiday booked which over-run when his contract expired. As is common, he signed the pre-contact. This is a pre dated & signed contract which can't get registered until the date. Many players are on holiday in situations like this. That is why they pose for photos in their new clubs colours when they sign the pre contract. Aberdeens press department released that photo off their own back without consent from anybody, least of all Tansey. Aberdeen gave a formal apology for that to Tansey & Inverness. Tansey & many of his team mates felt very let down by Foran & the board of Inverness because although they knew Tansey had done nothing to instigate this, they happily stood by & watched him face the wrath of the fans. Tansey felt they did this to deflect the pressure on themselves. That's why Tansey gave "That interview". Players had no chief & were doing things in a way they knew weren't working. Tansey gave his all for the club, even when off form he still gave 100% effort. The club hung him out to dry when they knew fine well he was completely innocent. That's why he said what he said in that interview. Interesting.

  12. Wouldn't say a bad word against the man. Have a lot of respect for Kenny and what he did. Remember, promotion, top 6 finishes, semi final win down to 9 men, final of the national diddy cup at Parkhead, semi final win against old firm at Hampden, winners of first of our clubs major trophies, top 3 finish, European debut, selling of a home grown talent for half a million. Lets see how the new chairman fairs after 6 years. I think he did a good job overall

  21. If any player in the squad has major cause for grievance with Foran it should be Boden. He has been well and truly f***** over this year, given absolutely no chance to prove his worth. JH got slated for his treatment of David Raven last year being accused of all sorts of bullying tactics, from many on here but from where I am sitting this is on a par. If Foran didn't rate him why did he not get rid of him in January, when he brought in another 3 forward players Mckay, Ebbe and Anier. Absolutely garbage man management. The guy never got a sniff yet he's been written off as 'absolutely useless' based on what exactly, how many first team games has he started and finished ?

  25. I wouldn't trust fans donating £200k to the club given the state of decline and management. If I did donate it would be good to address: An ineffective youth system Relying on journeyman footballers The puddle in the pie queue The embarrassing portakabin shop The embarrassing scaffold towers A review of hospitality More pleasant shop staff Better parking Community facilities to generate revenue, such as a pay to play Astro, indoor recreational area, restaurant or accommodation Better transport links to the stadium Paint for the orange stadium stanchions Automated turnstiles to save on staff costs and make entry easier Better pre match entertainment If we knew exactly what we were getting in something tangible then it would probably help greatly.

  26. Are the prices out yet for season tickets? Can't see it on the official site but I never visit there so not familiar with it. I haven't had a ST for years as I wouldn't use it much but certainly thinking about it next season. How much do we presently reach out to schools? Maybe we already do this but seems to me that next season in the championship we just saturate the schools with tickets and try and build a support for the future and try and stop the kids moving over to County.

  28. If you want to inject money into the club buy a season ticket and a strip. You can't have the situation where fans 'give' money to their clubs, they need to be a going concern, to be sustainable.

  30. Though Bronson's account is not verifiable, it all seems to add up in terms of what we were able to see on the pitch. It was common knowledge that Fon Williams had to play a couple (or more games) while carrying an injury (Hamilton at home rings a bell). That said, his inability to cover the near post all season (including in that game) could not be put down to an injury! Zonal marking always strikes me as a recipe for disaster unless your communication is absolutely perfect....ours wasn't! As for the bad apples issue, I'm afraid that is a manager's lot: the task is to mould a group of individuals privelaged by a talent for football, into a team that operates like a well-oiled machine. Every team will have its wide-boys, load-mouths and sometimes deranged individuals, but the good man-manager will harness all fo these characters and get the best out of them (or indeed, punt them). RF failed spectacularly in this task, instead turning reasonably good individuals into a terrible team. He was a rabbit in the headlights for most of the season and I have no doubt that he refused to take advice from any of the minions, many of whom he had played beside. Only when MM joined the team did he take any advice, but too late! Bad apples are no excuse for a manager - he recruited them, he failed to manage or discipline them and he didn't get rid of them, so there is only one person to blame.

  31. It is my view that Kenny Cameron did a fine job at ICT and he has the club in his blood. It's a job I wouldn't relish. Trying to keep the club afloat in the face of increasing financial stress can't be easy. We could, of course, gone the other way and spent until the cows came home which would undoubtedly have ran up debts that would have seen the club ruined beyond repair. Yes, he could have taken action regarding our current plight as early as Yogi's departure and NOT appointed a rookie manager but were there any other realistic options available given the finances If that was the case he'd have taken them wouldn't he? Anyway, that's in the past now, we move on to next chapter, but I reflect and remember what he has done for this club. I wish him a very happy and healthy retirement.

  32. I doubt that any of the apples were bad and that they simply objected to RF's style of (mis)management. If you are blind to constructive criticism then you are not cut out for management no matter what your line of business. A competent manager also recognises when his position becomes untenable. Richie constantly claims to have the club and it's interests at heart. No doubt whatsoever that he once did but him continuing to cling onto the role in now in the interests of one person only.

  33. There are plenty of other threads in which you can criticise him and the board......and have done so often enough. IMO it is rather ungracious to disagree with the sentiment of this particular one even if you feel that change at the top was needed.

  34. Quote from Alex Fisher - “If I am part of the plans then I would like to get involved. I’m not sure when we will have that chat as I don’t know what is going on regarding the board and positions so I guess I have to wait for that to settle down before they start looking at players for next year. “That conversation may be a few days away.” Looks like Fisher may be keen to stay on. Would suggest that he is one of our maim priorities for retaining next season.
    1 point
  35. My turn to agree with you and give you a green dot into the bargain. Even if we'd enjoyed our best season ever instead of possibly our worst, it was always a crass and inappropriate thing to have on an official club crest. I sincerely hope that whoever was responsible for that decision isn't the same person who is now responsible for the vital decisions which are likely to shape our medium term future.

  36. Aye how right. I hope everyone can see how that "Pride of the Highlands" crap was just another bad decision by those in a position to change what they want without due consultation.

  37. I would like us to try our very best to hold onto Fisher. When given his chance, he demonstrated that he can perform and score in the Premiership. He looks to me like the sort of robust forward who could be very effective indeed at Championship level.

  38. All these calls and post for players to stay and keep a big squad - where do the posters realistically think the money will come from? We now have an aged core team for the lower league? Far too many on here using their 'Championship Manager' experience thinking we can pay money to compete with top tier teams when we struggled being in that league. A basic (small) squad is what we need with some experience, quality and then youth - actions need taken to free up wages Esson, MacKay, Hoban - OFW can leave Raven, Warren, Tremarco - deals to Brad & Laing plus youth - a high earner with injury problems like MacNaughton has to go and we all know Meekings is off Vigurs, Polly, Mulraney, Horner - see who else we can get in as a left sided player is a must. Draper will leave unfortunately. Being honest I'd like to see Doran go too although as his level of return given his cost has been diminishing year on year. If we can get 1 or 2 midfield players then that will enough. The rest of the midfield this year has been dross and the departure of guys like Anier & Cole is a positive. Upfront is the real issue, Fisher should be offered a deal, thouse who think we can afford Billy are deluded. We need a 20 goal a season striker if we want promotion and that has to be a focus. Options of guys like Rory Loy should be looked at IMO. We need to trim excess costs, invest in youth and build not just to get up but also how we will structure to survive in the top league again and move forwards - otherwise we will blow our budget and spiral downwards.

  39. The sentiments expressed in this thread are very laudable indeed, but I can't help feeling that they are based on a bit of an irony. What the well intentioned OP suggests is that fans should donate from their own funds, effectively to allow football players, most of whom earn far more than they do, to enjoy levels of pay which are way above the market value of what they do. One of the reasons that most football clubs struggle for cash and depend on donations from the wealthy (and indeed not so wealthy) is that they are trying to find wages which are considerably higher than their players' effective earning power. Now, I can't see a way out of this for as long as it is driven from the top by remunerating idiots well enough for them to blow half a million on a night's gambling and sustained below that by attempts to retain full time playing staff who arguably aren't actually good enough to deserve that status. These attempts also include sugar daddies allowing economic nonsense to prevail and there is something fundamentally wrong with football's relationship with money. I don't want to knock Elgin 1's good intentions, but what he has said raises a number of questions. Firstly, he says he is a teacher, in which case he would need to be fairly highly promoted if his earnings even match those of the players who have just failed to maintain Premiership status and there will be very many fans less well paid than E1. In ballpark figures, I think it's completely unjust to look to the bottom 90% or more of the earnings range to contribute towards sustaining the top 10% or less. It reminds me of an organisation which used to be called "The Society for the Relief of Indigent Gentlewomen of Scotland" whose business used to be to collect money from the public so that well heeled women who considered it below their status to work could be kept in luxury. It was utterly immoral! Then there's the irony that fans - justifiably - complain about ticket prices (which in turn are largely dictated by the need to pay these wage levels.) That being so, then where is the case for voluntarily coughing up even more to sustain these wage levels? The other consideration is that football simply tries, or in some cases needs, to ignore economic realities. If any normal business is unable to balance its books it either cuts costs, goes into liquidation.... or allows itself to merge or be taken over. The problem with this last one is that there will be few instances in football where this is practicable. I don't actually believe that the inner Moray Firth is capable of sustaining long term two Premiership football clubs - even when one is heavily subsidised by a benefactor. An economist landing on a space ship from another planet would propose a merger but we all know that, in a football environment, this is a total non starter. (It was barely feasible 20 odd years ago within the same, very local community, which Dingwall - Inverness isn't. But PLEASE nobody go "there" again!!) So, as a result of not subscribing to basic economic principles such as mergers, takeovers and wage restraint, football leaves itself with very few options and I don't think fan subsidy over and above ticket charges is realistic. On the other hand maximising sales of tickets by convincing people that purchase is worthwhile is another matter. Remember also that so-called "investment" in a football club is simply the making of non-returnable donations, either large ones from wealthy people or the smaller ones such as many of us made 20 years ago with our share purchases of £250 or whatever. A final word on the hotel proposal. Apart from wondering where these premises would be located, I must query Northern_jaggie's estimates where he appears to balance the capital cost of 20 bedrooms with gross earnings based on a number of projected outcomes (and about £80 a night). I don't see any provision in there for operating costs such as business rates, wages, food, energy, maintenance, VAT etc etc.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.
