  1. I really don't know what to do, I am nor phased by relegation, In England I saw plenty with my boyhood team " Bury" , the other side there were plenty of promotions, what goes up sometimes goes down syndrome. The last time I saw Bury play was against Bournemouth in a league two play off match. Now look at Bournemouth?. Life goes on. My years watching Calley have not been all rosie but interesting. I have never seen a Scottish football match outside the top floght. I am not sure if to buy another season ticket. I will be 74 on the 1st of August , my fight against cancer I seem to have won, but my wife says I am not fit to drive up and down the A9 at night. On Saturdays my wife drives she drops me off at the ground and picks me up after the game. This last year I have not enjoyed the games much. I suspect we will hold our own in the lower league and the games will be less intense. Thinking back to my life watching football times have changed dramatically, my first game was an away game at Bramhall lane Sheffield in 1949, I only remember it because it was bonfire night, there were no motorways then and as the coach travelled over the Yorkshire moors to Bury, I remember fires all over the place, The coach was full ofr "old" men, no replica shirts in those days, but guys who worked 12 hour days In Cotton mills who moaned about the players conceding 4 goals, the match ended in a 4 4 draw. My next memory was Bury lacing Southampton 8.2 at Gigg lane. Bury was virtually the first club in the North of England to install floodlights, I can also remember an inaugural match against Vienna Rapid. Gates used to be getting on for 20,000 in those days. Disaster came around 1959 when the Shaker's dropped into the 3rd Division North. They were in the main much better than the other teams, but promotion was limited to one club. Bury did not get promotion that year as a formidable Scunthorpe team was far too powerful. The reorganisation of football and the emergence ot a national 3rd division did the trick, as Bury with an array of Scotsmen and the new manager " Bob Stokoe", swept all before the and they went back to the 2nd tier , with a record points win, with every member of the 5 man forward line scoring at least 20 goals. At this stage my hard drive failed I had to quickly save and rejoin, before I could check the spelling in my diatribe which I was writing because I cant sleep. My point is do I stop watching football >? , or do I risk life and Limb driving to a Inverness . The strange thing is it is easier to go to away games because I just catch the coach in Aviemore. Maybe I should just go to the airport and fly to Manchester and see my last game at my beloved Gigg Lane. and call it a day/ . I usually sell a lot of books over the week-end so I will be busy anyway. I am now signed up for walking football on Sunday mornings. I was surprised to find I still have a powerful shot in both right and left sides . I have a problem with balance though and I landed on my knees when I fell off the gazebo roof. recently some ex firefighter I am?

  2. Although beating a part time team from the Highland League is a whole lot better than being humiliated by a bunch of similarly resourced part timers from Luxembourg!

  3. I think you'll find they are. They have to be registered, by law, and ICT have always seemed very efficient at complying with this requirement. There are dozens of former and current directors on the record.

  4. With a lifelong passion for the game and history what could we do to help. I spent years driving my father to games at caley as the little things became more important . He didnt go to every game but when he did it was the highlight of his month. Where you coming from?

  5. What a waste of a post. Just like the nonsense you write for the highland news. I do not want any warnings for this as, if your happy to take a wage writing for the public you take the the praise or criticism publically

  8. Unveiled suggests he's been in some kind of veil for perhaps 12 months!! Perhaps unwrapped is a better description. In the past he has scored goals against Wrexham for two different teams and that is probably why they have signed him. Normally we wish players well, but he never seemed to form a relationship with our supporters. The best that we can say is that his signing here proved to be a major error and credit to those who facilitated his exit.

  14. Our obsession with secrecy about such matters which are not commercially sensitive but of great interest to fans is as baffling as it is frustrating.

  17. Mulraney certainly has pace. Yet to see much evidence that he is particularly skilful. Wholly agree with what you say about Doran, if fit, he could be very effective for us this season.

  18. There are just so many rumours flying about just now. I heard another one this morning, but because it's no more than a rumour and a well tried one at that, I'm not going to propagate it. Rumours tend to be like new manager predictions - 90%+ of them are wrong.

  21. Are we talking about the same guy who knocked an extra 10% off of the season ticket prices, extend the early bird closure dates, included the first cup match for free and offered a monthly draw for boardroom hospitality. There's been a lot of changes and the club probably needs a bit of time to sort itself out.

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.

It's Now or Never: That's what Elvis used to say. We are in deep trouble up to our necks with no signs that we can turn this around. Defeat to Arbroath could be the final nail in our coffin with only fifteen points available to us ahead of this game. The play-offs are looking more likely by the minute, but it's not beyond the realms of possibilty that automatic relegation is still an option should Arbroath beat us on Saturday. With the long suffering fans rapidly losing faith in Big Dunc, it's crunch time as Arbroath head North to the venue they won at the last time they were here. Sadly they come to the Caledonian Stadium off the back of a 2-1 midweek defeat to Airdrie, and we could all but relegate them on Saturday with a win. However, that's nothing to gloat about as we could be next...

    • Partick 1-0 Inverness CT - Report
Big Trouble Down the Dump: Billy Mckay was back in the starting XI along with Samson Lawal with Pepple dropping to the bench and Shaw out for the season. Both teams had seven on the bench with Roddy MacGregor getting a rare seat. Scott Robinson scored the only goal of the game just before the break. Inverness were reduced to ten men when Cammy Kerr was sent off just after an hour. Despite creating more opportunities, the points just evaded us.

      Meh!
