  1. Well put DD. We seem to have absolutely no idea how to negotiate contracts and, to me at least, too many were given on the strength of poor management decisions and for that the board, but especially the chairman have to take responsibility. I think the passage of time will show that Kenny Cameron's time as chairman was not the best in our history.

  2. After all the critism of the silence and, worse still, misinformation coming from the club, such a frank statement has to be welcome as, in my view, is the resignation of the current chairman who, in his short tenure, has presided over chaotic administration and communication to such an extent that his position very quickly became untenable. His going is the right thing to do, possibly the only right thing he had done as chairman and his replacement is a first and necessary step to restoring our reputation and credibility. As for restoring our place in the Premiership, that is going to be a difficult and uphill task given our limited financed but it will be an impossible task without everyone from the boardroom to the dressing room to the stands putting recent differences behind us and now pulling in the same direction.

  3. And when it does, maybe someone could write a book about it!

  4. I think that we've had such a terrible time that people want news to be good. In truth, this isn't 100% good or bad. It's good that new people and potentially new investment is coming in and they'll bring their own strengths and contacts. Dougie MacGilvary was chairman when the club was formed but he was also running the club when it ran up significant debts. People bemoan David Sutherland and Tulloch now but they basically saved the club in the early 2000s. I remember MacGilvary opposing the investment that Tullochs made in the club at that time that started his exile. No-one could possibly argue that MacGilvary was right about that. Savage became involved in the mid 2000s and what he's remembered for is the Marius Niculae signing. Savage invested in shares to the value of Nicuale's first year wages and we had ourselves an international centre forward. Although Niculae was a top player it didn't end that well - the club got involved in a dispute with the player and we had to fight him into the Court of Arbitration for Sport over a payment he said was due. Savage left the board claiming time pressure with his business but it was generally seen at the time that Sutherland and Tullochs didn't like the Niculae scheme and Savages higher profile ideas. in addition, people are talking about Grassa etc coming back. We can't keep going back to how things were in the past, we need to develop a plan for the future for how to succeed as a club. I appreciate that there isn't a big queue of people willing to put money into Caley but we need to have a forward thinking club rather than trying to recreate something. As well, we suffered the consequences last season of having a manager and a chairman joined at the hip. If we'd sacked Foran in January we'd have had a better chance to stay up, So I'm in the fence regarding this development.

  5. He had a positive impact in his 2nd year too. As you say, he spent much of the season struggling through injury and was unfairly criticised for errors he made in those circumstances. Despite that, he still came 4th in Scotty's Player of the Season poll which reflects the generally positive view fans had of his performances over the whole of the season. If he is fit, then I cannot for the life of me understand why he is not playing. Same goes for Raven who came 3rd in the Player of the Season poll. But in Raven's case there is an issue which I can't recall having been discussed. Apologies if it has. As we know, Raven did not feature in Hughes' plans and was effectively out on his ear when his contract expired. Foran took a different view and took him back. But if current management are looking to offload Raven to save on a major salary, one has to ask how come Raven is on such big money? If Raven was keen to stay on here and was being offered a reprieve by the club, surely Raven would not have been in a great negotiating position and would have likely accepted a significantly lower offer. If he is earning at a level which requires him, as one of our better players, to be offloaded, then it does indicate some serious irresponsibility from the club in the last couple of years when awarding contracts.

  6. It was a long term agreement of £5K per week plus VAT. Almost identical to the bar bill at the Heathmount.

  7. What's the source of this figure of £228,000? I'm not querying it, I would just like to know where it originates from. It has relatively recently emerged that Tullochs, as well as the North and South stands, appear to have acquired the entire stadium and possibly the lease from the Common Good Fund as well - in exchange for spiriting away the £2M+ of debt which looked like sinking the club in the early 2000s. It's therefore possible that the sum in question covers rent not only of the North and South stands but also of the main stand and whatever the CGF fund charge in rent for the site. What's not yet clear is who currently holds the lease of the site from the CGF.

  8. True, but I'm pleased for the Hospice that they have finally managed to convert the gifted shares into cash - particularly as it was revealed just a couple of weeks ago that they were sickeningly robbed of about £500,000 in a telephone banking scam.

  9. In that case I should perhaps originally have said "I'm not necessarily querying it"

  10. Yes. We keep hearing on here about various factions and who is at loggerheads with who, etc. I don't know the history of who got the hump with who over what, and I could care less about it, but surely Mr Rae's first job, if there is substance to it, is to knock all this pettifogging on the head and get everybody to pull together.

  11. Interesting way of looking at things. I've said before if he ever became our manager I would not attend ICT games for as long as he was in charge. That said, despite my dislike of the guy, I wouldn't wish an illness like this on him so hopefully he battles through it as best he can with the support of his family and friends.

  12. Feel sorry for the man but in no way should he ever have been our manager

  13. I think the comment that we have had a number of rich board members who have consistently supported the club even when in seperate factions and with different ideas is very true. We have been lucky to have this level of financial commitment spread across a wide group and hopefully now they can work together to get us back in the premiership.

  14. Aye and don't forget we couldn't afford to pay the wages a couple of months ago without substantial soft loans under this present lot.

  15. Mixed views on this. Savage has caused ructions and board room division the last time he was involved and DM was at the helm when we built up almost three million pounds in debt and the bank were about to pull the plug before DS stepped in. That said, hopefully, we all learn from our mistakes and they will both be a more positive influence this time around.

  16. So who's this new Romanian international that's coming in then? I'd still like to see someone in a DoF role. Although maybe not Grassa. He's had his time. I've mentioned him before but I think CC would be quite suited to that role. He's got a long term connection to the club. An affinity with the club and lives locally. He'd be in for the long haul. He's articulate and intelligent. Has a good bond with fans. Has football knowledge. I'm not saying it has to be him but he ticks a lot of boxes for me. We need someone who could combine a DoF/head of recruitment/head of youth development type role. Someone with a model and general oversight of the football side and scouting. Leave first team football to the first team manager. He still has final say on players. However the DoF is the one doing the graft of inviting players for trial. Collating scout reports etc. I think it's high time that the club developed a model of football business. A philosophy that generally dictates signings and youth development up to the first team. Hopefully the new board recognise this as the last few years have just been a continuous run of false starts in that regard.

  17. That's pretty well it, apart from the minor detail that Jock McDonald was the inaugural chairman for 15 months until May 1995 when he was succeeded by Dougie who was in office until February 2000. Irrespective of what people say about David Sutherland, without the Tulloch intervention of 2000-01 the club may well have gone bankrupt and without the Tulloch intervention of 2004-05 to provide the stands, goodness knows what its future in the SPL would have been. DFS once told me that Tulloch intervened to a total extent of £5.3M and this claim does stand up to the arithmetic. One intriguing revelation has been that Tulloch are proposing to "repatriate" the main stadium as well as the N and S stands to the club. The main stadium was what was handed over initially to the ICT Charitable Trust in 2001 as a quid pro quo for spiriting away that £2M+ of debt but it seems that a sequence of complex deals led to ownership eventually passing to Tullochs, as the real quid pro quo for really having taken up that debt. In his "pre-happy clappy period", before he found God on that legendary holiday to Damascus, Caley D used to give the club pelters on here over that deal, where Tullochs effectively paid off the debt. As for Alan Savage, Companies House records that Orion hold 275189 (precisely captain!) shares in the club. This is presumably what it cost Orion to fund Niculae for the time he was here. This has now been highlighted by today's revelation that AS, DMG and IMG have gone 3 ways on the Hospice shares - a revelation which, in conjunction with DMG announcing a bid for two directors, is bound to spark speculation about a possible power struggle. In that event, the biggest shareholding is the 729,500 of the ICT Charitable Trust. These are mainly or even entirely the original Tulloch uptake from the 2001 bailout which were donated to the Trust. The Trust is now effectively controlled by Muirfield Mills, who are currently also well represented on the Board. So add in Muirfield Mills' own 376,00 shares and they have a clout of 1.05 million. Against that, and with the 3 way split of the Hospice shares, Orion/"Savco" has 466,500 and the McGilvray family (inc earlier acquisitions) just over 487,000. So McGilvray + Orion/"Savco" comes to 0.954M. Then there are significant holdings such as Roddy Ross (170,000), George Fraser (51,000), David Sutherland (his personal shares - 50,000), David Cameron (100,000) and Graeme Bennett (29,000). Where their loyalties may end up isn't entirely clear (although in certain cases that WON'T be with McGil/Savco!!) and we also don't know who have acquired what we assume to be the 500,000 shares corresponding to the "new money" announced in yesterday's statement. This is all in relation to a total of 4.4M issued shares (the previous 3.9M plus the assumed new 500,000, but extendable to 5M) The total number of shareholders, many of them owning just a token 250 but others into the thousands, is around 530. As a result, any battle for control of Caley Thistle could become an interesting sequence of events involving a large number of fragmented parties.

  21. Absolutely the guy conveniently walked away leaving us where we are today, bottom of the league and skint. His appointment of the untried Foran on such a lucrative deal was absolute madness one which will be haunt us financially for a couple seasons to come, if all is to be believed.

  22. Sensible statement outlining the business case - realistically who would want to run a football club? We can be grateful that some of those who have made money are still prepared to subsidise full time professional football in the Highland capital. The statement has the ability not only to get the ducks in order with spectators etc but the players. We need to find hunger to win games against 9 teams who currently appear somewhat hungrier and more competent than us. Morton will be highly motivated this Saturday so the pressure to perform must switch from the Board to the team with SUPPORT.

  23. Same Pissshhhh different day. So according to that we have money in the budget to hold on to players. Well lets get that useless **** between the sticks out and put OFW in, and use Raven some more. Let's be honest Ridgers is not too convincing, Chalmers is absolute pissshhhh. Robbo should use Bell more beause Baird has to be pointed in the right direction of goal and then can only score from 5" out - if he were a horse I would have shot him by now.

  24. Unacceptable yes, but hardly any different from last season where we just scraped into the last 16 of the Betfred. Lost the opening league games to Partick and County with a league cup defeat at Alloa sandwiched between them, then a 5-1 hammering at Tynecastle before finally winning a league match on the 27th. So to keep the pattern going we should be losing this Saturday before winning at Brechin on the 26th

  25. The Club is F****d ! Since Cup win 2 years ago its been downhill since then. After the win the then Chairman put an extra padlock on the piggy bank to stop Yogi repeating the season but soon splashed the cash on Foran wonder why? We have a Board who care not a jot about The Fans or moving the Club forward that much is very clear and with this years players especially defence is the worst ever but now without solid players in midfield like Greg & Drapes gone there is a big problem. Robbo clearly has been told not to play OFW & Raven (but he's had to ) because of wages but why if 2 weeks ago we could afford to keep Drapes (Robbo said his wages were accounted for in the budget) we still cant afford to keep these players? I am disgusted by the Club's attitude and i can see clearly why Drapes jumped off the sinking ship and went OTB who can blame him? he might have ended up playing part time football in a couple of years he has a family to support like all of us those calling him names on twitter etc Shame on you. You would all do the same thing given the chance. Interesting to see what is said by the club in next couple of weeks as i know people have emailed and complained but i suspect nothing.Years of penny pinching and cheap options will eventually ruin what was a wonderful wee club.

  27. Sorry confused here, If the stands were built for a million as quoted at the time and we have been paying over £200 000 a year for over 12 years that is quite a financial commitment for the club to have to shoulder. No wonder finances have always been tight.

  28. I know Danny McDonald has been appointed General Manager so that the CEO role and this could be separated. I don't know if it's more a business side of things or entails the DoF role in the same type of way that Adriano Galliani did at Milan. What I'd like to see is a model whereby one person links all sides of the football operation so that they work seamlessly with one another. Make ict an attractive place to develop young stars of the future and as a next step for emerging talent. A model also needs to be found to capitalise on successful players who are departing. Far too many star players have left for nothing making it extremely hard to replace them adequately. Hopefully with different voices on the board these things can be looked into.

    • Dundee United 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Hopes amongst the Caley Jags support were at rock bottom ahead of this one with the threat of relegation looming large. With all hands to the pumps, Shaw, Boyes and Ujdur were brought back into the squad whilst not really 100% fit. Shaw started as did Pepple and Boyes with Billy Mckay, Lawal and Danny Devine dropping to the bench. Cammy Harper was given the Captain's armband today. It's a daunting task going to the lions den to face title favourites but underdog is our preferred tag. Anyway, 252 of them turned up at Tannadice in eternal hope and Duffy heightened the intensity only for Louis Moult to level things up. That's how it ended, a result we would have bitten your hand off before kick off.

    • Inverness CT 1-2 Ayr United - Report
Having sat through one of the worst games for many a year there is little to hope for now apart from Arbroath to keep losing because we certainly appear to find it difficult to win. We have no game changers in our squad and our manager is playing the wrong type of anti-football to help our cause. Big Dunc thought we were the better team. Pleeeeeaaase, give me a break! We were second to everything and Ayr were always one step ahead of us after the first three minutes. SHOCKER springs to mind.

    • Inverness CT 0-0 Airdrieonians - Report
These two sides looked as though they could play for the whole of March without scoring. In terms of opportunities, the hosts probably shaded it, but when we did miss the first defender, crosses invariably went behind the incoming strikers. On the one occasion we got on the end of the ball Billy Mckay's flicked header was cleared away from goal by Kanayo Megwa.
Not the worst 0-0 draw ever, but scoring opportunities were at a premium. Neither keeper was overly troubled and this game had scoreless written all over it given the evidence of the first twenty minutes.

    • Inverness CT -V- Airdrieonians - Preview
Promoted Airdrie are sitting in fifth place in the table, just below the play-off places with former Caley Jag Nikolay Todorov getting amongst the goals and he will provide a big test for our central defence. We have found Airdrie a difficult proposition at times this season but we did win the last home encounter against them.

    • Morton 0-2 Inverness CT - Report
What a start for Inverness and Billy Mckay, who answered his abusers from last week by opening the scoring in the second minute, firing into the top corner after an assist from Cammy Harper. Robbie Muirhead looked to respond but Mark Ridgers was equal to his effort in the fifth minute. Ten minutes before the interval Sean McAllister curled in a low free kick from the edge of the box to double our advantage and open his scoring account at Inverness. Plenty of bookings but no further scoring saw Inverness pick up a vital three points in the relegation battle although we still remain in ninth spot but only two points from Dunfermline in fifth.
