  1. Yes, and he probably meant to press OFW, and missed it

  2. too much pessimism. We are a completely different team now, and you have to accept that. So we are starting all over again. We have defensive problems, but Robbo, as he said in the interview, is well aware of that. However, there is some promise in other areas of the pitch. We will improve, but I don't think it is unrealistic to consider us a mid table side at the moment, with the possibility that we can build on that and move up over time. This is the beginning of a new project, our previous success is now history. But there is no reason that it won't be an exciting ride once again, given a bit of time. Look at the St Mirren comments, they are far more positive than our own doom mongers!

  4. I tend to agree. Nobody took issue with fish and chips at Auchterarder when the team was generally winning under Butcher. It's important that the players are generally fit and, in general terms, eat healthily. However, whatever our problems are at the moment, they are not down to the odd pizza or the odd fish supper on the way back from away matches.

  6. At the open night, did Robertson not say that if Raven and Fon Williams were still here after the transfer window shut, they would then become part of the squad and would be available for selection? He is using Raven, probably only because Seedorf is injured, but Fon Williams seems to be a totally different situation. It was reported he was injured, then he wasn't injured! I think it's time for the club to come out and tell us what the real situation is. When we bought our season tickets, the club said that they were going to keep the majority of the squad from last season and get us back up at the first time of asking, well that never happened, but if we are not going to play our best available 11, the questions need to be asked why not? I am all for giving the new manager and players time, but if there are any petty personal squabbles between players or coaches, they must be put aside for the benefit of the club.

  7. Think some of these comments are a little OTT. Robertson is in the early phases of a massive rebuilding job. Our budget has been slashed, our best players have left, most of our new signings are inexperienced youngsters who need game time to develop, not 'the finished product'. Those who are writing Robbo and the lads off already are the kind of people who say they only watched the first 5 episodes of Breaking Bad but gave up as it was too boring.

  8. Dougal must be rubbing his hands at the thought of a thread reaching well into its second page after starting life on unsupported claims on Pie and Bovril about the alleged delivery to the ICT team bus of pizzas of unknown composition and hence also (given that many pizzas can be very wholesome) of unknown implications for health. However one or two interesting issues have been raised, including some of "sports science" in relation to football. Sports science is a very wide ranging discipline, embracing not only dietetics as prompted by the OP but also questions of general training, strength and conditioning, recovery, the effects of noxious and intoxicating substances, psychology and a good deal more. Compared with other sports, football is a relatively recent convert to some of these concepts, to the extent that they don't yet seem to be embraced universally by the game when maybe they should. Posters have also raised issues about professional sportspeople being meant to know what they should and shouldn't be doing, highly paid players going on the bash at various times and the likes of PSG being unlikely to behave "badly". These are all very valid observations... but they tend to pale into insignificance in the face of just two words - Wayne Rooney, or indeed Paul Gascoigne and not a few others. The norms adopted by many other sports, including those where there is no payment, are still very much "work in progress" in football. However there does seem to be a pretty deeply rooted "counter-culture" there which will take some time to dislodge. And allowing the likes of Rooney to get away with it, as he has so frequently done, is not going to hep that cause one iota.

  10. I would like to hear OFW's side of the situation. After the season ticket holders open evening, I had the impression that OFW was just hanging on for an unrealistic offer to arrive & he was, basically, taking the club for a ride. Now, I'm not so sure. Would he put his place in the Welsh squad in jeapordy (which he has now lost)? Being a part of the Welsh squad clearly meant a great deal to him. Would he not rather be playing regularly? He's said he's not injured, so are the club freezing him out or is he not willing to play? He did play through an injury for a part of last season (which would go some way to explaining some erratic performances), hardly the actions of someone who would down tools. What is going on??

  11. A complete non-issue and tbh a bit pathetic really. What next ? Having a moan because a player is seen in a good mood in public after a defeat ? Absolute riddy.

  14. Lets have a look at some Midden fans quotes from P&B Ridgers aside, I didn't think ICT looked as bad as their early form suggests. They certainly weren't as bad as Dundee Utd. What a keeper Ridgers is by the way, easily the worst keeper I have ever seen grace st.mirren park, garbage To be honest ICT impressed me they looked the best team we have played so far it wont be long before they climb the table. As for us especially the second half we looked like we could score every time we went forward. On another day it could've 4-4 or had Inverness a decent keeper we could've lost. It was a pretty end-to-end game. We weren't particularly brilliant yesterday and I thought Inverness looked a decent team, keeper aside. To be honest, I don't think we played that well today, and I don't think ICT were that bad. Two of our goals would have been stopped by a half decent keeper, whilst our keeper made 3 or 4 really good saves during the game. Samson gets a lot of stick on here, but I haven't seen a goalie play against us yet that I'd rather have right now.

  15. If this is true then surely there can be a compromise. He is getting no appearance bonus at all just now and no game time. We are deprived of the services of, when he's fit, the most competent 'keeper on our books. Ditch or very radically reduce the appearance bonus and get him playing and both parties are the winners. Right now, both parties are losing, in the case of the club, far too often liberally as well as metaphorically.

  17. I believe ofw is one of our highest earners and i also believe is on a ridiculous appearance bonus. Each time he plays he gets a bonus which isn't a kick in the arse of what is his weekly wage. Can you please edit this poll to include Esson? He would be my number one.

  18. So, we've lost to Falkirk, Dunfermline, DU and St Mirren so far this season....I know Falkirk was in the cup, but the point stands. These were the top competitors for honours this season and we've lost to the lot, sometimes heavily. I think we all have to wake up. This season is about rebuilding. OFW is a smokescreen- yes, he's tying up funds, but remind me when the transfer window closed and how many really good players are out there wanting to play for a club in turmoil? That horse bolted in July. We need to accept this is what we have and get some team spirit going with Board, players, manager and fans. It's time for siege mentality, fighting together and stop looking for scapegoats. If we don't, we'll be relegated.

  19. Full report tomorrow. Our defence other than Warren were an absolute disgrace. How many times did they back track and fail to tackle. Stain Midden deserved to win. It could have been 8-6 and Wullie Gollum was shocking. But what if Bairds early disallowed goal had counted, Warrens clear goal chance header and Polly's shocking miss had gone in ? Polly was my clear MOM and ran fer miles - whilst the luxury of Vigurs showed as he ran for centimetres. Calder is not a Feckin forward. Baird is not a lone front runner. Liked the look of Trafford and Bell looked lively. At 2-2 it could have gone either way. And why did Robbo only use one sub ? Midden were pacier, far, far more direct, played balls forward instead of our frustrating backwards and forwards. I would play Tremarco and Warren in central defence but we need a confidence inspiring goalkeeper. Ridgers lost us the points.

  20. I'd rather the sensible young fans (the vast majority of them, I'm sure) would disassociate themselves from the numpties, or at least stop trying to justify their behaviour...easier said than done, I know, but needs to be done - the small 'Ned element' will ruin it for us all (and I don't mean just the younger fans). They need to realise that they are representing the club (especially at away games) and tbeir actions reflect on us all. Just behave, guys & stop justifying the behaviour of those that don't)..

  21. Sorry but think your under a false impression that life is fair and proof required. Life is not a court of law. There is no onus on a service provider to give reasons for removal of access to a service . There is a requirement for people to meet minimum acceptable social standards whether renting a flat, working in a team or in a pub.

  22. And I suppose dropping litter & damaging a fan is ok then? The club is for everybody, young & old! I really couldn't care less if the club alienates wee boys who think its a laugh to vandalise a bus...if they apologised for their actions, fair enough but doubt that'll happen somehow....

  23. The only ranting seems to be coming from the likes of you complaining about the fact that those associated with the club are taking some actions against a handful of idiots whose behaviour damages the club. What Fraz is saying seems to be very much the same as me and others. The overwhelming reaction form older fans is simply one of sadness that the actions of a small number of idiots is harming the reputation of a lot of decent young folk who have been giving great support to the club. Of course the youth are the club's future! That is why it is important that actions are taken which mean they can continue to give enthusiastic support to the club without getting sidetracked into behaviour which which both damages the club and which might have serious implications for the youngsters themselves on a personal level. I don't know what your agenda is but the fact is that any suggestion that anyone in the club is trying to alienate the youth could not be further from the the truth.

  24. What would be the proper way to handle it? Where have I alienated anyone? I'm not upset. I never had to deal with it. Posting about a given subject in a thread is now a rant? Aye ok. Everything I've posted is accurate to the best of my knowledge. It just really pisses me off when folk have a go at the very few volunteers and organisers we actually have but never put themselves forward to take responsibility. Very easy to have all the answers behind a keyboard when you don't have to deal with the fallout.
    1 point
  25. It doesn't sound as though you have taken anything on board at all. You say "some of which they know fine well didn't do any damage." but my post was all about the fact that this is not just about the damage. It is about behaviour in general and the absolute need for the bus driver not to be distracted. I acknowledge that you have not defended the actions of anyone on the bus and I assume from that that you at least acknowledge some folk behaved inappropriately. What you seem unable to appreciate is the seriousness of this. I am sure you accept that sanctions must be taken against anyone causing malicious damage but the more pertinent issue here is what actions should be taken against those whose behaviour was not in any way malicious but which, nevertheless, was inappropriate and inadvertently put people at risk. My knowledge of events is only what I've read, but whatever the truth of what went on is, the key consideration here must be to ensure that this kind of thing does not happen again. It is clear that there are some at least for whom a ban is completely justified. It may be that there are several youngsters who got sucked into the bad behaviour by peer pressure and perhaps against their better judgement. It would be a great shame if they got banned when a talking to and getting them to appreciate the potential consequences of such behaviour might well do the trick. But then again, some of these lads may well have been warned before for all I know. What I do know is that the actions of the club and the Travel Club will be aimed at ensuring that safe travel is available for people who wish to support the team. If some innocent lads are being unfairly banned then the fault for that lies squarely with the morons who caused the trouble in the first place. The club tries to provide a service which offers as cheap and convenient transport to games as possible. Remember, people give up their own time to organise this on a voluntary basis for the benefit of others. If you want to use the service, you abide by the rules. That's the deal. And please don't spout that cr*p about the club losing a group of fans for good. If the club has lost a small handful of morons then good riddance to them. The genuine fans amongst the youngsters will keep coming to the games - because that is what fans do.

  26. They've not tried to hide behind anything. I've not seen anything from them saying that it was D&E's decision. However the reality from my previous experience is the they will have been given a warning about it if not an ultimatum. And who could blame them? It's a crappy situation and it's not a one off there were complaints and issues when I was involved over 2 years ago, most of which are dealt with at the time and we move on. You have to remember that everyone who runs and is a convener on every bus is doing so voluntarily and the pay for their seat like everyone else. They're not there to deal with people's behaviour, damage, complaints from drivers and bus companies, questions from the club/police, clearing up rubbish all over the place, vomit, missing games from taking drunk teens to A&E. I love the craic the lads bring and it's sad that it's come to this, I can only assume that they felt there was no other choice. Perhaps you could look into running a bus for the 30 excuded lads, you clearly feel strongly about it and there's obviously a demand. Out of interest what do you suggest they should have done differently?

  27. If people are causing the club and volunteers constant additional work, behaving in a way that disrupts the enjoyment of others, is risking the club being fined and/or meaning there's damage having to be paid for, then I hope they are gone for good. If others who know who the culprits are have been banned and refuse to speak up to help the club and themselves then they can have no complaint. These are not the actions of supporters, they are the total opposite. So good riddance to them. Maybe travel numbers will increase now a disruptive element is gone from them and away matches. Maybe those who use the service would prefer to pay a couple of pound more instead of being held to ransom by what appears to be an increasingly unsavoury group. Whatever way you look at it, dealing with this issue is not a bad thing.

  28. But it's not just about the damage. I don't know what the Travel club have decided or why, but there are general points which apply in any situation like this. The driver is responsible for the safety of everyone on board and for other road users. If the driver is briefly distracted then disaster can result. One only has to think of the tragedy down South recently when 13 people died in a minibus crash when it appeared that the driver did not realise soon enough that the lorry in the motorway lane in front of him was actually stationary. I personally had a narrow escape a few years back when stationary at traffic lights on the A9 Spey Bridge at Kingussie. The driver of a coach behind did not realise the traffic was stopped until too late. The driver slammed on his brakes whilst I looked in my mirror with increasing concern / horror about whether the coach was going to stop in time. As it happened, the last of the traffic going in the other direction had passed and the driver was able to move into the other lane and finally stopped level with me. It was a very scary incident with my life literally in the coach driver's hands. Whether people are guilty of damaging the bus or not , over exuberant behaviour, even when good natured can be distracting for the driver and puts people at risk. Most people understand that, but it seems that some of the youngsters have yet to grasp that simple truth. D&E may not have banned anyone but they may well have told the Travel Club that they will not be hiring out buses to us if there is any repetition of that behaviour. As for the mess: if I gave someone a lift and they left empty cans and bottles and chip papers (and probably a few chips) strewn around my vehicle, you can be pretty sure I wouldn't be giving them a lift again. I don't see why D&E should be expected to tolerate such ignorant and disrespectful behaviour The more mature and sensible lads amongst our young support will appreciate that the club and the travel club have absolutely no option but to take firm action here. I fully accept that some lads who are generally innocent of the bad behaviour may be affected by this, but the only people who are responsible for that are the the moronic ring leaders of the trouble. It is to them they should direct their grievances. Of course, if 30 are being banned from travelling with the Travel Club, that should be enough to hire their own bus and take the responsibility for that. They just might see things differently then. What a shame that the great job many of the youngsters are doing in providing enthusiastic vocal support for the team should be ruined by a small number of d*ckheads. Get rid of these morons lads, and get back to doing what you do so well.

  31. No ideas how long, the statement wasn't clear. Have they been banned though? I haven't seen any public announcement to that effect. I used to help run the buses and it's a thankless task. People moan it's too expensive, people moan if you don't put on a bus cos you know it's gonna lose money, people moan if it's too quiet, people moan if it's too noisy, people moan if it doesn't stop enough, people moan if it stops too much, people moan it leaves too early, people moan it leaves too late.... It's quite possible that the coach company threatened to remove their service (they have before I believe) if people who are causing damage, causing the driver hassle etc arr not dealt with as ultimately the driver and the hirer are responsible. There's no way the travel club will want to lose money and they defo want to get as many fans to games as possible but they're left in an impossible situation. Somebody has to take responsibility.

  41. I take onboard what you have said, and if you check my comments I have not defended the actions of anyone on that bus, it's the reaction to it since and how the travel club have tried to hide behind D&E for banning folk from the bus, some of which they know fine well didn't do any damage. Anyway, nothing will change and they will have lost a group of fans now for good

  42. I was referring to the travel club losing a group of fans that would not use their bus, not the football club. I know now the truth of what happened. However I feel this is getting nowhere. • Dundee United 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Hopes amongst the Caley Jags support were at rock bottom ahead of this one with the threat of relegation looming large. With all hands to the pumps, Shaw, Boyes and Ujdur were brought back into the squad whilst not really 100% fit. Shaw started as did Pepple and Boyes with Billy Mckay, Lawal and Danny Devine dropping to the bench. Cammy Harper was given the Captain's armband today. It's a daunting task going to the lions den to face title favourites but underdog is our preferred tag. Anyway, 252 of them turned up at Tannadice in eternal hope and Duffy heightened the intensity only for Louis Moult to level things up. That's how it ended, a result we would have bitten your hand off before kick off.

    • Inverness CT 1-2 Ayr United - Report
Having sat through one of the worst games for many a year there is little to hope for now apart from Arbroath to keep losing because we certainly appear to find it difficult to win. We have no game changers in our squad and our manager is playing the wrong type of anti-football to help our cause. Big Dunc thought we were the better team. Pleeeeeaaase, give me a break! We were second to everything and Ayr were always one step ahead of us after the first three minutes. SHOCKER springs to mind.

    • Inverness CT 0-0 Airdrieonians - Report
These two sides looked as though they could play for the whole of March without scoring. In terms of opportunities, the hosts probably shaded it, but when we did miss the first defender, crosses invariably went behind the incoming strikers. On the one occasion we got on the end of the ball Billy Mckay's flicked header was cleared away from goal by Kanayo Megwa.
Not the worst 0-0 draw ever, but scoring opportunities were at a premium. Neither keeper was overly troubled and this game had scoreless written all over it given the evidence of the first twenty minutes.

Promoted Airdrie are sitting in fifth place in the table, just below the play-off places with former Caley Jag Nikolay Todorov getting amongst the goals and he will provide a big test for our central defence. We have found Airdrie a difficult proposition at times this season but we did win the last home encounter against them.

What a start for Inverness and Billy Mckay, who answered his abusers from last week by opening the scoring in the second minute, firing into the top corner after an assist from Cammy Harper. Robbie Muirhead looked to respond but Mark Ridgers was equal to his effort in the fifth minute. Ten minutes before the interval Sean McAllister curled in a low free kick from the edge of the box to double our advantage and open his scoring account at Inverness. Plenty of bookings but no further scoring saw Inverness pick up a vital three points in the relegation battle although we still remain in ninth spot but only two points from Dunfermline in fifth.
