  1. Great news so many travelling!

  2. As fans who choose to pay a great deal to support the club I think it's entirely reasonable to discuss what our players are paid considering it also relates to term long term financial viability of the club. Remember that in addition to a weekly wage there's also appearance and/or win money paid.

  3. It is very difficult to compare players when they have such different styles. Chalmers has been slotted into a role where he provides a bit of a base for others to do the more eye catching stuff. Since he started in his midfield role we have been firstly more solid defensively and latterly more creative going forward. I'm not suggesting this is all down to him (far from it) but if he was not doing his role well we would be seeing more pressure on the defence and getting less ball to the attacking players. What he does well is to make himself available to receive the ball and then move it on safely in the right direction. Defensively he is not a particularly great ball winner but he has good positional sense, closes players down quickly and generally makes it difficult for opponents. It's a pretty anonymous role but an important one which he is steadily growing into. He may not have caught the eye like Calder did yesterday but he had a pretty decent game.

  4. Fares are now as follows: under 16, full time students, 65+ and concession £10 per head. Everyone else £20. There will be a special deal for Members towards the end of the season. Also watch out for date for Adult £20 and children go free.

  5. Unfortunately while Billy got a good number of goals first time around and developed into what looked a promising player, his career has steadily migrated backwards. While he has had some injuries, its also a case that it worked for him due to our style of play and the creativity that players like Watkins, Christie, Ross, Shinniesta etc could provide him - unfortunately other clubs haven't had this level of quality around him and on paper his career is on a downward path. If RC are relegated (or not) with his poor record of goals again this year his next move will probably be Championship - unless his form and more importantly number of goals turn. Seems a decent guy but been unlucky places he's went.

  6. that's a pity but Hibs will be making a substantial investment to their system so maybe the result should have been expected. well done.

  8. Speculating on players wages is crass and low-class. Players wages are no ones business but their own and regurgitating "what you've heard," is just stupid. Unless of course you lead by example and post your salary?

  9. We got Coll Donaldson to commit to a 2 and a half year deal. No reason why someone like Bell couldn't do similar.

  10. If agree we have the nucleus of a really good team and need to get the guys signed up now to keep them to build for next year.

  11. There was not a failure on the pitch for us today and, until Vigurs had to be substituted, the old guard of Vigurs, Polworth and Doran were running the show and oozing class. Perhaps some of those who have been on Polly's case all season will now cut him a bit of slack. A special word for the manager. When he came in, I was not alone in having my doubts. He had been out of management for a very long time and out of full time management for even longer and his record since he left us almost a decade ago was hardly inspirational. However, after a sticky start, he has now introduced a system which is both entertaining and increasingly effective. As far as recruitment is concerned, while there have been a couple of failures, his recruits are much more effective than those of either Hughes or Foran and on a fraction of the budget. Well done to the players and the manager. We are not quite there yet and it may take until next season to genuinely challenge for promotion but we are on the right track and have, by and large, the right squad and the right Steersman at the helm.

  12. Vigurs deserves the MoM award! A great performance from him. What an asset he has become and it’s great to see him celebrating towards the fans for his goal. A lot of criticism was given to him in the past (not least by me!) but today his defensive run from penalty box to penalty box exemplified his change in character on the park. I thought he showed restraint by not reacting to being floored, only to be booked! No wonder Robbo went mental at the ref.

  13. TBF it's no more than a goal a game....and three of those games, we were down to 10men, the settled backline that had that great record, hasn't been settled in those 6 games, so I think it's still a solid run, defensively...seems that Calder has settled in and looked good past couple of games, and if Seedorf could stay fit he has real potential. Great to see Doran score today. he looked pretty good against Falkirk as well...it's almost like a new quality signing Has to be said after a shambolic season last year and a difficult summer and start to the season, the team has come on leaps and bounds, and in Donaldson, Bell, Chalmers, Oakley, Seedorf, Ridgers and Calder we are seeing additions that are looking worthwhile having been given a bit of time (I think Trafford is in the same category, but hasn't played much recently, Baird I think has done OK, Austin obviously to soon to tell). Both Mulraney and Brad Mckay seem to have kicked on this year, and for all the criticism of him Polworth looks an increasingly important player for us. Vigurs and Tremarco have been stella for us, but I'm looking at the newbies and the youngsters Not only am I up for the Falkirk home game in March...but I have managed to sort another trip up for our last home game against Dumfermline, my gut feeling is we'll have secured a play-off position by the end of that game, the play-offs are of course a marathon if you finish in 3rd/4th, and I don't think it's been done very often, but I can see us going the whole way (which I didn't expect to be saying a few months ago) if we are lucky with injuries, and suspensions.

  14. I was very critical of Vigurs when he got sent off a couple of games ago, so it is only fair to congratulate him on a great performance today. He and Polworth dominated the middle of the park. Connor Bell's work rate was an example to all

  15. That was a pretty good all round performance. Star of the show for me was young Calder who did a terrific job at left back. He got a bit of stick earlier in the season for not getting stuck in enough but he didn't duck out of challenges today. Instead he played a mature and assured game and seems to have had a good deal of confidence instilled in him. He got forward well and put in several decent crosses. He seems to have the ability to get a cross in where other players look to take an extra touch first. Tremarco won't get back in the side if he keeps that up. Donaldson and Vigurs were again excellent. Vigurs' headed goal was a thing of beauty - it wasn't powerful but he had the composure to pick his spot and the skill to put it precisely there. Bell and Oakley worked very well up front and with Doran and Polworth zipping about well, there was a lot more movement up front than we have been used to. If Vigurs' goal was a thing of beauty, Chalmers' wasn't. The BBC refers to him "firing" in the 2nd goal. If that was "fired" then it was certainly a slow burner. He seemed to miss-hit his shot from the edge of the box and the direction and probably a bobble or two deceived every one and it crossed the line in seeming slow-motion. They all count! Queens started the day in a play off place and they looked a pretty decent side to be fair. The fact that we managed to beat them pretty comfortably is a measure of how much progress we have made.

  16. I suspect that most of the refs like the teams we play from down south don't like coming to Inverness, or Dungwall for that matter. That seems to have been the situation since we came into the Senior Leagues in 1994. Add to that the standard being poorer when dropping down a level then it's no surprise we are getting a raw deal. Robbo is quite right to demand an explanation for the performance of the ref on Tuesday v Livingston on the Vigurs second yellow incident.

  17. Presumably that's one you also formulated on the Grassy Knoll, although the evidence does seem to suggest that refereeing standards aren't great. Have you been on to Alex Ferguson's lad at Doncaster in search of a solution out of the Book Depository stable?

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.
