  1. One of the biggest things that was said to be coming with the new administration was transparency and communication. Changes in senior positions would be a simple thing to communicate to fans. Scotty has outlined this above. Fan's organisation or no should have no bearing on this. As far as I'm aware the club have never used CJT as a direct method of communication. The club have a bigger reach and means than CJT ever would regardless. I don't think this is about bashing the club for the sake of it. Just nice to be kept in the loop as paying fans.

  2. I was trying to stay out of this debate, but just have to bite at this one. sorry : Charles - if this is the case with Danny then its a pretty significant change within ICT and seems to merit a press release far more than this most recent one. Hell, it doesnt even take more than a couple of sentences to portray the loss of the COO and - by your account - his replacement with the commercial manager in a positive light !!! If you say something along the lines of "Danny is moving to be Academy director to oversee the Brave project, this will hopefully help develop more young players of the calibre of Ryan Christie or (in time we hope) Daniel Mackay that this club needs to survive. we will always be a selling club blah blah blah .... Jim Oliver will have increased responsibilities on the commercial side as we seek to further encourage that side of the business" . This stops any rumours dead in their tracks and shows the board have a clear plan or vision for the future. MY only questions on this would be ICT or Highland Football Academy? Instead we get another half-baked statement about fan behaviour that literally wags a finger and says nothing of note. If there was an incident then the security or police personnel at the stadium deal with it. If there are found to be ICT fans involved then the club can make a comment or take action later. issuing a statement like this - much like the twitter porn thing - simply alerts the press to make the most of what is typically a nothing story. There is a time to make statements, and a time to listen and gather facts quietly. I would suggest that the club consider using the latter a bit more.

  3. It is difficult to know what the point of the statement is. Inevitably there will be incidents from time to time which warrant some action and perhaps referral to the police, but which do not require any specific statement from the club, let alone the Chairman. For the Chairman to get involved one would assume there was actually quite a serious incident. If we assume there was a serious incident then the investigation may or may not require further witnesses to be sought. If it didn't (for example if the incident was on a coach where every potential witness was known and traceable) then simply carry out the investigation and report on any findings in the event of some significant action being required. If further witnesses might be helpful to the inquiry then just make a civil request in a low key manner. For instance, the club's statement about Saturday's win "the cup's back in Inverness - congratulations!" could have come from the Chairman himself with just a brief mention of the allegations. He could have written something along the lines of "unfortunately the day was marred slightly by the abusive behaviour of a small number of our supporters. Complaints have been made and the club is investigating. If anyone has information which might assist the investigation, the club would be grateful to hear from you." As it is, the statement comes across as though we are all naughty school children getting a good telling off from the headmaster. It also gives the impression that the Chairman is more intent on punishing the miscreants than on celebrating the achievement of winning the Challenge Cup. As others have said, the Chairman should be issuing statements about what is actually happening behind the scenes at TCS. There is a danger that issuing this rather crass statement actually does more harm to the reputation of the club than whatever a small section of the support might have got up to.

  4. I presume this relates to the young lads going on the park after the goal which was a bit daft but in no way warrants this sort of hysterical hand wringing, yet again. This constant vilification of our dwindling support really does my head in. Rae is presiding over an utter shambles off the park, and serious under performance on the park, and seems to be using these regular attacks on our own fans to deflect from these glaring shortcomings. You can guarantee that there will be yet another negative article on the BBC website this afternoon which is completely unwarranted. I'd be more interested in hearing when our emergency loan players are arriving or an update on the impact our COO and Commercial Manager are having on addressing the aforementioned operational shortcomings. "Barley Chatterman to thread, Barley Chatterman to thread....unacceptable social malaise in the bagging area."

  5. That was sweet revenge for the travesty of the opening game of the season. We were never in danger and really should have been out of sight. My boy George ( see what I did there?) had a great game, obviously got bored of waiting for something to happen and decided to make something happen instead. The first time he went in a run and at least drew a save, he then somehow cocked up a free header, but then went on another run, leaving defenders in his wake and creating the goal. He could possibly have had a tap-in in the second half, if Daniel had opted to cross instead of shoot. There was a palpable buzz around the ground when Daniel came on, a bit crazy the impact that this young lad has, but he's fearless, direct, and things happen when he's on the pitch. He had a mad few minutes, shot saved (should have squared it), got booked, then failed to connect with another cross. His best chance was when somehow we ended up 3 v 2 but the keeper made a great save, from a difficult angle. I'd love to see him and George get a full 90 minutes together. I suspect it would be carnage. Austin - jury is out for me. Showed some good touches, by all accounts his effort was going in before Oakley "intervened". But - he's made of crisps. Pretty sure he was hobbling about prior to being subbed? I'm bemused by the vitriol from certain North Standers to Vigurs. Sure, he might not be quite as good as he thinks he is, and a lot of stuff doesn't come off, but pretty much everything comes through him. He bossed the cup final, and he was never far from the action last night. Donaldson, Warren and Ridgers were solid, and we never looked like we were going to let them score. I was surprised to see that Utd edged the possession, because we were so comfortable, I'd have had it at least 60/40 in our favour, apparently not. Who cares, 1-0, job done, let's do St Mirren.

  6. nope thats a complete cop-out. The status of CJT or any other body is irrelevant. The club should be communicating through their website, twitter, facebook, instagram, email mailing lists or any other customer Db they have. If they choose to publicise information through CJT, CTO, traditional media ... or any other interested third parties or some combination thats fine too but it should not be their primary tool. When they seemingly go OTT on something that seems trivial on the face of it and then have complete radio silence on a matter that many fans and shareholders might find interesting or indicative of our future plans or direction then this just opens the whole floor up to the conspiracy theorists to wonder why it happened and why there was nothing said? Your explanation makes sense, so why not just say that ....

  7. Aside from the mystery "incident" in the main stand, the mini pitch invasion after the goal did bother me in terms of the possible repercussions for the club.

  8. While yes some of the behaviour from some in the past has been a bit silly, these statements aren't helpful at all and just come across as cringey as hell. If someone has broken rules or the law so be it, just deal with that person or persons no need to make a song and dance about it. 9 times out of 10 it's probaby just someone who's a bit over excited and there's no malice. Only reason I can see why we repeatedly do this is because there's pressure from the authorities and we have to be 'seen' to be doing something about it. That's why I remain sober and impeccably behaved at all games...

  9. Well, for me, that was the best team performance at home this season. Lacking maybe in goals but no lack of application and energy. All over the pitch we were 100% committed to pressing and picking up loose/2nd balls. Deserving of a wider margin of victory. Utd were played off the park and their threat snuffed out. Difficult to pick out a man of the match. Doran must start more. Mackay needs more game time. Almost wish the season was just starting now. Well done all!

  10. I think Charles hits the nail on the proverbial head on this. If CJT ever gets functioning properly again, then they could play a huge role in getting better communication between club and fans and it is much easier for the club to communicate on the bigger issues with one supporters body. I have no issues with the club pursuing any other avenues of communication such as Facebook etc but for major issues, having a representative supporters body is a must. Was not at Perth and have no knowledge of any incident but we do have an element of fans who are, frankly, a disgrace and who appear to want to become our version of casuals. I have no issues with the club statement what so ever and some of the criticism of the board on here is embarrassing. If people think they can do better, then try to get on the board and change things which brings me back to CJT.........

  12. Obviously I can only repeat what I have heard from a reliable source. Steps to make that known generally are obviously the board's. As far as I can see, Jim's role doesn't go as far as COO since it appears to be confined to day to day non-football operation and commercial activities while Danny, since he seems also to have oversight of first team activities, could possibly be said to be de facto Director of Football. It could also be suggested that if the club had a working and viable fans' organisation, one of the many benefits would certainly have been the fans being kept better informed in a number of ways. What troubles me at the moment is the desire among some fans to find, and even create, things to complain about. The old board got it, and now the new board is getting it. The old benefactors got it and now the current ones are. The old team management got it (OK, no real problem with that ) and the new management is getting it as well. What makes that whole sentiment especially difficult to swallow is that some reactions to difficulties seem almost to extend to schadenfreude. It's possibly not what has gone wrong of late that is the remarkable thing, but that it took so long to do so and also the length of time that things went very right in the face of a raft of fundamental adversities.

  13. Too early to write Meekings off, but I think we had the best out of him, before his injury. Although I don't follow Dundee closely, it would appear that Meekings is nowhere near the player he was.

  15. My understanding is that SPFL rules prevent the same individual from being COO and Academy Director. Danny has hence moved entirely to the football side, overseeing Project Brave as well as other football matters, so is by no means "gone". The operational side, I believe, is being undertaken by Jim Oliver and there is some marketing input as well. I am interested to note that Phenom appears so well versed with ICT's behind the scenes operations that he is in a position to write them off as "an absolute shambles"..... but at the same time he appears not even to know who does which job nor even who is or isn't in the employ of the club. The practice I spoke about in an earlier post of comparing willies behind the bike sheds in the hope that yours will be the smallest so you can blame your parents for it seems to be alive and well. It always seems to have to be somebody else's fault.

  16. Agree with RiG, nothing remotely like 2300 there. It's a shame because it was an good game to watch. For the rest of the season we should be seeing some good games I think. For our part, with the threat of relegation getting more and more distant we should be able to play with a bit less fear. If we still have ambitions of the play offs then we have to win games. But other teams in the mix also need to win rather than draw games so I think we are going to see pretty open games. Win, lose or draw these games, I think there will be good entertainment as our rebuilt team continues to develop. It seems to me there is every reason for folk to come along and enjoy the last few games of the season.

  17. If something unseemly has occurred, surely if the club are investigating the "incident" they should tell fans, where it happened, when it happened and what the allegation is, so that fans can confirm or deny the "incident" occurred. Seems strange not to ask for witnesses to alleged wrongdoing.

  19. Yes a great result...and it could count for more. A play-off place is maybe an outside possibility, but it's better to look up than down, and remember St Mirren's almost certain promotion is very much off the back of a brilliant run in the Spring last year taking them from bottom to clear of the relegation play-offs. A good finish to the season has positives all round.

  20. Terrific result and a terrific three days. Hopefully that will quieten the relentless doom mongers for a while. You can see the shape of a good team emerging. I think all the postponements and injuries halted the progress we were making by the Christmas period, but now we are getting back on track. A few astute ins and outs over the summer and we should be good for a strong campaign next season. Especially if the auld enemy join us

  24. February 4th 1977. One of the buildings to be demolished was the Bonded Warehouse on Millburn Road. I was able to take some photographs inside in near-darkness (so they are a wee bit grainy), but a fascinating insight to a building to which very few people have access. I often wonder what happened to the cast-iron staircase that went from ground level to the top of the building!

  26. This. I get that they were excited. But there's no need to go on the pitch and definitely no need to confront the other team's players. That's just idiotic behaviour and there is no justification for it.

  27. I'm not at all suggesting that CJT is the whole answer, nor even a substantial part of it, but it's far from irrelevant. One of the important functions of a fans' organisation is to keep comminications open with the board and to chivvy them if necessary if they feel information is thin or deficient. They have at least a "Tesco role" - every little helps. For instance, I am absolutely certain that someone within a properly functioning CJT would have got wind of the Danny thing a while ago and done the "What's this all about?" bit. This, remember, is a board which has never known being called to account by a fans' organisation since there has never been a functioning one during its tenure. When I heard that there had been some kind of change, I asked around and indeed I have been a bit surprised that this rearrangement - albeit apparently consistent with SPFL rules - hasn't been placed in the public domain, given that Danny's original COO appointment had been well documented.

  28. I don't want to sound negative, but this is what's probably required to do this:- with 9 games remaining.... pull back 8 points on QoS with 3 games in hand PLUS 9, maybe 10 points on Dunfermline with 3 games in hand PLUS 11 points on DU with 1 game in hand OR 12, maybe 13 points on Morton with 3 in hand. (The "maybe" qualification is where goal advantage may not be pulled in as well) That's a lot of points to be pulled back on a lot of clubs and, as I've said before, all that's preventing me from being even more categorical is the 2010 run-in.... which itself depended on the collapse of just one rival club.

    • Inverness CT -V- Raith Rovers - Preview
The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.

It's Now or Never: That's what Elvis used to say. We are in deep trouble up to our necks with no signs that we can turn this around. Defeat to Arbroath could be the final nail in our coffin with only fifteen points available to us ahead of this game. The play-offs are looking more likely by the minute, but it's not beyond the realms of possibilty that automatic relegation is still an option should Arbroath beat us on Saturday. With the long suffering fans rapidly losing faith in Big Dunc, it's crunch time as Arbroath head North to the venue they won at the last time they were here. Sadly they come to the Caledonian Stadium off the back of a 2-1 midweek defeat to Airdrie, and we could all but relegate them on Saturday with a win. However, that's nothing to gloat about as we could be next...
