GOING TO APPEAL

Caley Thistle have today received the detailed minute of the FIFA meeting which last autumn ruled that former player Marius Niculae, now of Dinamo Bucharest, was due over £100,000 from the club.

The arrival of the detailed findings is the trigger the club requires to lodge an appeal to the Court of Arbitration in Sport (CAS) with a hearing likely in Lausanne , Switzerland , in three to four months time.

Chairman George Fraser says:"We have been in limbo since the FIFA panel announced its decision. We were unable to pursue the matter until the arrival of their written reasons for that decision.  The paperwork has now been received and our legal team have today been instructed to lodge the appeal to CAS.

"Our lawyers, who drew up the standard SPL  contract agreement, certainly feel we have good grounds for appeal and we can now proceed with a view to finally resolving the matter. The CAS is a much more legally-oriented body than the FIFA panel."

Niculae joined Caley Jags in summer 2007 and scored 10 goals in 37 games before in summer 2008 he refused to join a pre-season training camp in Denmark and instead flew to Bucharest where he signed for Dinamo.The issue CAS will decide is whether Niculae 'initiated' his own transfer.
