    Butcher exits for Easter Road

      Teaser Paragraph:

    Butcher & Malpas Leave Inverness

Inverness boss Terry Butcher has finally made his decision to leave Inverness Caledonian Thistle to start a new job in Edinburgh. He takes with him his assistant Maurice Malpas to leave Inverness searching for a new gaffer once more. He will take over at Easter Road after the departure of Pat Fenlon left the Leith club managerless.

Butcher has been in charge at Inverness since Craig Brewster took the club to the brink of relegation in season 2008/2009, taking over the reins on January 27th, 2009. His appointment then was too late to salvage the season left in tatters by Brewster, but he did the next best thing by bouncing straight back up the following season, overturning a massive points gap to overhaul Dundee and jump straight back into the SPL.

The next two seasons saw Butcher build his squad and consolidate Inverness in the SPL and by 2011 Inverness just missed out on a top-six finish. Better was to come though and last season Inverness managed to get into that coveted top-six position, and just missed out on Euro Football on the last day of the season.

This season, Butcher's boys have got off to a flyer. Sitting second in the SPFL and looking good for another top-six place and the possibility of European Football once more. Crushing Butchers new side at the weekend and looking good into the bargain, however, it appears that money does talk and the inevitable has happened. Disappointing really after Butcher turned down the option to join Barnsley last season, giving everybody at the club a lift. This protracted decision is not going down well with most of the support, but Inverness Caledonian Thistle have suffered setbacks before, and this won't be the last one.
