  1. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/feb/08/love-me-for-a-season-boyzone-set-to-become-face-of-non-league-chorley-fc I can only think that IHE ruled himself out. How could he not be "the face"?
  2. Ian Broadfoot would have written "Going Electric"!
  3. I didn't follow his career as an assistant manager, nor his brief tenure at FGR. (And I note that FGR have already gone through two other managers since he departed.) But that is a valid question, and one which I have been asking myself recently. Yes, he must still be learning, but we could just be finding out that he's simply not a good manager. I sincerely hope not!
  4. Most of them have. 3 newcomers today? 4 if you count Samuel. BBC says we have had 15 shots, and Queens have had 3
  5. > I give you Aribusitamunoipirim Emmanuel "Aribim" Pepple. Thank heavens that's his forename. Imagine getting that on a jersey! Looking forward to seeing the line-up tomorrow. As you say, we can probably count on Ridgers in goal, but after that...
  6. I go away for a few minutes, and they score a hat-trick Give the match ball to Samuel now!
  7. Better bring them on now, then
  8. Yup, that's it. We were in the top flat at the left hand end as you would have looked at the building. We had four windows - from left to right they were a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and another bedroom. So you wouldn't have seen much life, even in the kitchen, because it had a deep window sill and then the sink, so you couldn't get close to the window. The flat downstairs had a back door, which they did use all the time. To reach it you went along a narrow passageway between the house and the wall, but you wouldn't have seen anything because of the height of the wall. I remember that one of the houses on Temple Crescent - a few doors up from you, I think - was occupied by the mother of Lloyd Arthur who was an officer in or perhaps captain of the 9th (Hilton) BB. My Dad was an officer in the 5th, and knew Lloyd quite well, and hence his mother too. As I said above, we converted part of our loft into my bedroom. One night my Dad woke me up, took me downstairs, and into his bedroom, where we could see, just a few feet away, that one of the houses on Temple Crescent was well ablaze! Looking at Google Maps just now, I reckon it would have been number 14. Can't remember if that was Mrs Arthur or not. My parents thought it best to get me down in case anything came our way and we had to evacuate, but fortunately we didn't. No one was hurt, but the Temple Crescent house required substantial rebuilding. Much later on, my parents used to moan that one of the group Wolfstone was living in one of the Temple Crescent houses. They said "the guitarist", but I never found out who it actually was. Their complaint was that he used to practise a lot in his shed. which wasn't soundproof.... My grandparents lived at 13 Daviot Drive, which, if you are going up the road, is the last one before you turn the corner. Just round the corner at number 11 was Mrs Christie, who was Charlie's grandmother. I don't know if she was widowed or how many of the family lived there. She was a very pleasant lady, and got on well with my grandparents.
  9. I just hope they have registered him correctly.
  10. Well, Samuel's long going to remember his debut now Wny would you ask a loan player to take a penalty a day after he signs?
  11. If any other exiles are interested in this book, the Trust's website now has a mail order option. (Though I haven't tried it with a non-UK address). They have good stock of the book. Many thanks to Mark Watson at the Trust for his help!
  12. Right??? He's so left-footed, his right one is only there to make up the numbers
  13. Exactly what I said to my wife! Not impressed by Carragher. Too many safe, easy passes that did nothing, and lucky not be booked. But that's not where the problem is. I have a can of 3-IN-ONE that has more penetrative power...
  14. Well, giving someone a free is often a sign of appreciation by a club - not standing in the way of a move that the player wants. With a more business-like hat on, it may be that even a small fee might have scuppered the deal, in which case we'd have been paying his wages until the summer.
  15. Takes that long to process the queue of hopefuls at the stadium?
  16. BBC: "David Carson (Inverness CT) is shown the yellow card for a bad foul.". Back to full fitness, then
  17. Caledonian Thistle comes off the tongue better than Thistle Caledonian. But I wouldn't be surprised if Jock McDonald was behind the ordering in the company name!
  18. Why the need to change it? Plenty of companies are registered under names which are mostly or wholly unrelated to their trading names or brands.
  19. Only a couple of months until I next see the Peatbogs....
  20. The only pickup option is collection from the stadium shop. Please add mail order for exiles like me! Or include it in the club's online shop. PS I have used the "contact us" email link on the Trust's website. Automatic reply - out till 08 January
  21. Waited until we had put away four goals before making the subs. A lesson learned from last week, I think - don't disrupt the team if they're playing well.
  22. That would only work if the ball was on the ground. And you can't have one law for when it's on the ground and one for when it's in the air! There are no easy answers - no cheap ones anyway.
