  1. Ladies and gentlemen/ It 's wonderful to be be back in touch with Caley and the great fans. I have had a very hard time of it over the past few years. Yes, i am retired and just stumbled upon this site by chance (or the Good lord obliged me to do it) but I sure am glad that I have come back, it's just like a homecoming.Memories of yesteryear bring  back so many  nostalgic thoughts.

My wife  Liliya from Ukraine got cancer badly. They say it came from Chernoble just up the road a few hundred miles from the most southern port of Odessa (where she had lived)but I have my doubts and think that It may have run in the family. However she passed away in the very beginning of last year after she and I travelled all over British Columbia to visit several different hospitals but this awful disease never turned a hair and continued to grow. My wife Liliya had fitted in very well into Canada and was well liked. If any of our good punters would like to read her novel, "Destinies in Motion",  I think that you will enjoy it thoroughly since I did and that convinced me to do the editing of the book since I was so impressed by the content and illustrations. Unfortunately Liliya did not live to enjoy the acceptance of her wonderful book which for me was a very sad situation but I did my best to ensure that her wishes were taken into account as I completed this task.Frankly, it's a wonderful book and contains many illustrations all done by herself as well.  And I want to take this opportunity to thank Scotty for his assistance and encouragement and support .

As for my love of Caley and the fans that never wavers and I will try very hard to keep in touch as I used to and I wish all our supporters the very best of times and joy as we continue on our always exciting  journey with Caley.

May I also just wish you all in  Inverness  the very kindest thoughts for the coming season and hope and pray that Caley will achieve what thy deserve finally and win the league. Cheers guys and don't forget to look me up if you ever want to come to Western Canada for a holiday. It's a great country and where we live is also very beautiful.  Roderick Rhodes

  2. Manfer is a dedicated and very skilful commentator on this and that at Caley thistle. I would not miss his reports for the world.

Hi, sorry for being slow to reply. I don't know that area very well , but my oldest boy lives in Brough which is closer than me. I am on South of the river in North Lincolnshire a few miles from Humber Bridge

  5. 5 STARS FOR THAT COMMENTARY , MANNIE. Excellent INSIGHT AND SUMMING UP.

  6. Just been reading the thread for the St Johnstone match. I read your post and yes, it's disappointing,

But if you read what Richie has just said maybe he can achieve something by bringing in some better defenders. Mind you we have been unlucky with injuries and , well, things just happen.

By the way, did you ever get a chance to finish reading the book. Liliya and I  are interested in hearing the comments or reviews from any relatives of friends you may have lent the Destinies in Motion novel to.

Hope you are well and keep up the good work.

    Kind regards , Roderick (S.P.)

  7. Hi Jock

As you may well know "Hackey"  is the favorite sport in Canada. And I have just witnessed a tremendous game  for the world cup between Russia  and Canada , needless to say the Canadians won the cup in the final in a best of 3 game plan. Boy can they skate...faster than a speeding bullet and faster at turning on a dime than a ballet dancer. Aye!

Onyhoo, since you are 6 years older than me and I am fond of  older fellas 'cos they remind me of my youthful appearance,  I thought I would just send you a  wee note to cheer you up.

Seriously, does it get any easier as you age? Certainly not for me ..after retirement my tendency has been  to go to seed and a lot of pain in the body   from too much sitting around. So, after this, I am going fro a wee nap followed by a 6 mile jaunt on the indoor bike which invariably  perks me up and gets the blood flowing again. Wee willie likes it too since that gets him ready for his annual action,

    Cheers Rod (aka S.P.)

But yah cudna be as bad as this un, who has just had a chunk cut oot o' his ear - skin cancer !!!!!!!!!

      Onyhoo, keep on pedalling !!!!

  8. Interesting name you have Rhoda. My name is Scarlet Pimple but in real life my mother was also named MacBean and my actual last name is Rhodes. So you will be able to see the similarities. I was born in Inverness in 1938 so please say ..."you must be an oldie but Goodie" for me.  Smile.
Now,mother  lived with my 3 uncles in Rose Cottage  in Culcabock together with my Grandmother right next to King Duncan's well,  an area you may know. Then she met my father Thomas Henry (Harry) Rhodes who was born in Yorkshire and he settled in Inverness and became a business man.

I am very curious as to whether this resonates with you at all? According to research done by my cousin in America after she came over to Scotland to visit all the churches around to examine their records of births, marriages and deaths, she produced a genealogical record of our forbears on the MacBean side which , believe it or not, indicates that my side of the family is directly descended from the chiefs. The current MacBean chief is located in the U.S. and I have compared his geneaologic records from his website and they co-incide with ours. His site is not a bad one at all and many of his statements regarding the clan, forbears etc. are correct and accurate.

So, there you are, today's surprise contact for you. Have  a great day from beautiful British Columbia , Canada,

    Roderick

  9. Hi IHE

I have just been reading the thread about crowd figures being published and remember that I sent you a message a few days ago asking if you knew the crowd at the recent game, since, for some reason I just couldn't find it showing anywhere, not even on the SPL site. I always check this since it keeps my spirit uplifted if the crowd is up because we desperately need a the money to survive.

To date you haven't replied and I kind of wondered why not i.e. - assuming that we are still on good terms are we not?

One of my thread responses hasn't up-set you by any chance has it? I never hurt anyone deliberately so just making strange and bizarre remarks only means that I am either bored in retirement or just trying to lighten the load by reminding myself that time is passing and  there is far too much viciousness and grief in the world at this time to remain very serious for long. If you did you would go mental. Like ******* Basher Al Assad killing children for fun and agreeing with Russians  bombing humanitarian lorries and aid workers.

Talk soon I hope. Kind regards Itchy..

    Auld S.P. at your service.

      IMMORTAL HOWDEN ENDER

I thought that I had replied. It was 6181 which probably included at least 2000 Cellic. NOTHING upsets me !!

  10. John

For the life of me I can't find the crowd number at the Celtic game a few days ago at HOME anywhere on the internet. Can you please advise ? Thanks!

    1. IMMORTAL HOWDEN ENDER

      IMMORTAL HOWDEN ENDER

It was 6 thousand 1 hundred and (I think) 61 - 6161 - Cellic end was full and they also had the wee "West Stand" too - so that is about 2000.

What's happened to your Out Sneck /Outdoors photos. They allow me to reminisce and re -think where these places are and thus are so enjoyable.

And all these photos that you seem to magically produce out of nowhere--where do you get them from.?
