I thought we deserved the win and whilst we were pretty sound defensively I was disappointed at how toothless we were going forward. We didn't create much of note. Neither did Queens mind but very little to show from an ICT perspective.
Cracking free kick by Harper. It was in as soon as it left his boot. Only other real chance of note for us was perhaps the Mckay opportunity when he passed up a 1 on 1 in the second half.
Queens were desperately poor though. Whilst we had little attacking threat for most of the 90 minutes the home side were seldom able to muster a shot. Sheridan had a well struck effort saved at the start of the second half and Paton almost snatched a late equaliser when the ball dropped to him in the box but it seemed to roll down his shin instead of connecting with his foot and Ridgers saved easily.
Gives us a real chance to avoid the playoffs now but it's far from over.

For the benefit of those who think options such as Davidson, Imrie or Brown would have been much better than Dunc.
Since Dunc arrived he's picked up 31 points, imrie 36 points, Ayr 32 points and QP only 27 points.
If someone has the time and wants to go look at the exact points per game of those managers - Davidson, Brown and Imrie - go ahead as I acknowledge they haven't all been in place the exact same number of games. However the clear indicators are that that are all pretty similar in terms of outcomes in this league - whether that's because you see them all as good or crap thats individual judgements but for me none exactly are standing out as options that would have brought massively different outcomes.
Also notable mentions to Dunfermline 30 points, Airdrie 33 points and Arbroath 11 points over the same timelines.
All of which makes the calls of Morton, Dunfermline and Airdrie having fantastic seasons at various stages over the season seem wild and very instantaneously focused.
Ferguson has been in charge for 25 league games and won 31 points. An average of 1.24 points per game (PPG).
Imrie has been with Morton all of the season, 30 games, amassing 40 points an average of 1.33 PPG.
Davidson has been in charge for 12 games, collecting 19 points from 12 games an average of 1.58 PPG.
Scott Brown has been in charge for 10 games, bagging 18 points, an average of 1.8 PPG.
So Ferguson is clearly performing the worst out of those 4 managers on a PPG basis.- 1

I hope I am wrong, I really do, but I cannot shake the feeling that we are going to end up in serious relegation trouble this season with this appointment.
Went back through the thread to see what my thoughts were on Ferguson coming in.
Can't help but feel we need to empty him now to have any chance of avoiding relegation. He's absolutely clueless.

Think Ferguson is on a 2-year contract.
We can only afford to get rid of him if some other team wants him, which is most unlikely.
He's on a 3 year deal.

Striker stats:
Mckay - 1 open play goal (+ 1 pen from 2) in last 12 matches
Samuel - no goals in last 7 appearances
Brooks - 1 goal in 17 league appearances (most as sub)
Pepple - no goals in his 9 appearances (most as sub)
We really need one of the above to go on a scoring run. Someone, anyone!
Maybe one of the 52 defenders we signed in January is actually a secret goal scorer?
We're absolutely done for now. No chance we're overhauling any of the sides above us to get away from 9th.
Everyone else has been capable of going on short bursts of form to get away from danger whilst we draw and draw and the manager is, bizarrely, delighted with this seemingly oblivious to our increasingly precarious situation.
The board getting starstruck when hearing Ferguson was available looks like it'll haunt us for many years to come.

I can't see him staying beyond this season even if we do stay up. He will be wanting a half decent wage and he probably won't get that at ICT.
He's on a three year deal and there are rumours his salary is being (partly) covered by a director Niculae style.

If we get relegated with Large Duncan in charge I'd also say that could be the end of his managerial career.

Had an email back from one Monsieur David Fraser of the Aird and Loch Ness Ward simply stating "Thank you and I have noted your comments. As it is a live application, I cannot comment further". Can only assume all the councillors of the HC have been handed this cut and paste dialogue to reply with if they decide to
They obviously cannot say more than that otherwise it would (further?) prejudice the determination of the application before HC.

Looking at the league table:
Home: 9th with 12 points out of 42 in 14 games. Only Arbroath below us on goal difference but they’ve played one less home game. 11 goals scored, 4 less than anyone else.
Away: 3rd with 19 points out of 42 in 14 games. Only Dundee United and Raith Rovers above us. 21 goals scored.
It highlights exactly where our problem lies!
Of our 11 home goals, we’ve scored 3 twice, but in our other 12 home league games we’ve scored 1 five times and 0 seven times. We’ve failed to score in half our home games!
We’ve only scored in 1 home league match in 2014, drawing a blank four times!
We should switch our last four home league games to our opponents grounds!
Signing more defenders will help IMO.

Disappointing but not surprising. Hypocritical NIMBYs, as I feared. The bigger concern is that when it gets appealed to the Scottish Government, they will be very reluctant to overturn the decision and thereby discredit and humiliate their own politicians. We are in worse trouble than I previously thought.
The DPEA generally has no issue overturning decisions at a local scale provided there is justification for doing so. The concern would be if the DPEA dismissed an appeal and the club were minded to take it to the Court of Session then the chances of success there would be slim to none. Very few decisions by the DPEA get overturned in the courts.

Yeah that final paragraph is an embarrassing inclusion. Suspect someone bundled that on at the end but it's not overly helpful. The rest of it is a bit better in that it at least focuses on planning matters rather than petty point scoring.

Dunc’s son of course. 6’5” target man, was on loan at Forfar but struggled to get game time there.
He struggled to get game time because he was, according to some Forfar fans, one of the worst players they have ever seen and described as a "dumpling" by others. This is a very bizarre move.

Surely an appeal to the DPEA doesn't really need input from a KC?

Glancy was a loan signing!

Don’t think Glancy was a loan, I thought we paid about £25k for him, one of our highest transfer fees!
Ah yeah just checked and he was a permanent signing. Was sure he was a loan first then signed like Wyness. Ho hum.

In terms of raw talent loaning Scott Allan and Ryan Christie are probably up there as the best players we've loaned. Thinking about popular players in on loan I recall Martin Glancy being a bit of a fan favourite ("He's short, but he's fancy").

The Courier's daily briefing today has a section about the meeting. Below the intro piece is an invitation to "read more here". When you click on that, you get "Sorry, the article you have requested is no longer available". This article presumably contains a bit more than the basic statement which they published yesterday and which is still available on the Courier site. It may mean nothing, it may be a technical glitch or there may have been a reason why they pulled the article. Just seems a bit strange though.
I'd be surprised. The Courier and P & J largely regurgitate the same information already available in the public domain then have the cheek to stick it behind a paywall.

Presumably the meeting has been arranged to try and get fans onside and distract from the ludicrous position that we are in where a battery energy storage scheme is critical to the future of the football club.

Maybe we can still give Imrie the job before 1459 tomorrow.

Still find it bizarre we signed about 18 defenders in January when our defence wasn't that much of a concern and did precious little to strengthen our attacking options when we were so piss weak up front.

Harper probably in midfield for this one?
Anyway, I fancy us here. ICT 2 - 0 Dunfermline. Danny Devine hat trick.

Pretty sure the guys on the podcast didn't criticise him for fist pumping at the end of games rather doing it when we lost and hadn't played particularly well. Which is a little odd.
