  1. Very surprised at £200,000. May be we now sign George Moncur.
  2. According to local sources Miles has turned down contract offer and joined Aberdeen. Not yet confirmed on official site.
  3. I think that we can ask a development fee since he is under 24 years. I would not think we would ask the earth and these matters are often settled by tribunal.
  4. Very pleased for you and hope Miles helps you into Europe. Best wishes to all, Mickeyr
  5. Thanks CaleyMax. Down here he had little media coverage, rarely played, and is generally dismissed by the fan base. He was not given a squad number at season start, is not listed as a player on the official website and never played in the role he does for you. Run the opposition ragged? No chance. Play him as a lone centre forward or out wide and never give him the ball. I doubt he will play for us again and truly hope that our loss is your gain.
  6. The Swindon Advertiser fell out with Lee Power sometime back so their articles are basically rehashed local radio interviews. Miles has never been a regular at Swindon but few will forget his back heeled goal against Aston Villa. His spell with you is by far the best of his career. Many down here will simply say that the level of Scottish Premier League is so poor that if he can't perform there then he can't do it anywhere.(???). The truth is he wants to be with you and I don't think that Lee Power will deliberately scupper a move. Lee apparently played , at Hibernian, with Yogi so they know one another. Miles is one of several loan players whose deals expire at Swindon in the next few days which could explain delay. It appears that under league rules no player can play for more than two teams in a season so Miles can only sign on a permanent deal for any other club other than yours.
  7. I should not think so Alex because it was Chairman Lee Power who commented on Miles. It is such a pity for Martin Ling: he suffered from anxiety and depression but felt he was over it. It is just a game but pressure on and criticism of managers is enormous. We are just a small, low budget but now self sufficient club but some supporters seem to think we are still Premier League. We are still recovering from our season there.
  8. Lee Power, our Chairman, spoke a little about Miles on local radio yesterday. It seems accepted that Miles wants to be with you and a loan extension until season end appears certain. He then comes out of contract at that time but, because of his age and time spent at club, Swindon can ask a fee albeit that this may be set by a tribunal. This could lead to a clamour for his signature (?). It seems to me though that if your Chairman made a non derisory offer then a permanent deal would be a formality. One another note during our dismantling by the mighty Gillingham F C yesterday a fox ran the length of the pitch and disappeared through the seats at the empty away end. Even men with steel hearts love to see a fox on the pitch.
  9. Miles Storey joined Swindon during Paolo DiCanio's time and signed a further contract after he left. Miles was always promising but seemed never to fit Mark Cooper's plans. He was loaned out, with little success, several times. Martin Ling has never mentioned Miles since becoming manager and our strike force is currently well balanced. It has been said that Miles is for sale if a fee is involved. His time with you is by far and away the best of his career and has expressed the wish to stay with you. I expect to hear he signs for you in January, I wish him well and will continue to visit this site to see how he does. Happy Christmas and New Year to you all. Mickeyr
  10. I guess Miles' immediate future is now down to a couple of factors. He must be able to show your manager that he will be an asset to your side and be able to provide a valuable contribution when he, inevitably, will have a slow scoring time. You may be aware that our manager has just been relieved of his post so it will be interesting to see if this changes the Club's view of Miles' ability. I will let you know if I hear anything of interest. Best wishes to all, Mickeyr
  11. Miles is certainly very quick but I can't remember him being given too many killer passes here. The manager tended to play him out wide, not that he fancied playing him at all. It could just be that Miles has now found the ideal place to restart a promising career. I hope so.
  12. Sorry PerfICT but you must make allowances for shell shocked STFC supporters, It is hard to remember who actually plays for us just now. Away to Millwall tomorrow ... that should be fun.
  13. Thanks for the replies. Duncan Shearer is a true Swindon Town great and will never be forgotten. Adam Rooney scored a few goals but was not exceptional. Lee Cox appeared to be a good player but, like Miles, was never really given a chance. Owain Tudur Jones joined us on loan, started brightly then faded and moved on after his loan spell. Maurice Malpas was appointed manager when a wealthy Consortium took over at a point when it looked as if the club would fold: not an envious task. He was appointed by the then Chairman whose aim was to make the club self sufficient. It was a difficult job for Maurice and he earned the tag of emotionless. We ended up with Paolo DiCanio but that is a different story. Don't worry Ronaldo, Miles could score close to a goal a game and Mark Cooper would probably consider this underachieving and when the goal return fell back to say one in two then he would be right. Sorry to go on a little. Best wishes to all.
  14. Thanks for your reply. You are right: our form is abysmal and 12 players are on the injury list. I doubt that things are anywhere bad enough for the manger to recall Miles. He was not even given a squad number at start of season. If Duncan Shearer is still with you I cannot think of a better mentor for Miles.
  15. Good evening, I am a Swindon Town supporter and would be interested to hear how Miles is getting on. He has scored a few for you so hope he is impressing you. His most memorable game for us was against Aston Villa, We were 0-2 down when he came on as a substitute and scored two very quick goals to level the tie. One was an exquisite back heel which took out the whole Villa defence. It was a strong Villa line up that night and they scored a third to win the match. Since then Miles career has faltered and current manager just does not seem to like him and loans him out whenever possible implying that he does not suit the "Swindon way of playing". That may be true but a lot of us feel that he has not been given a proper chance and are very pleased to see that he is scoring for you. Do you think he will remain a starting regular and would you think he may tay beyond his loan period? Best wishes, Mickey
