  1. Also, how is the new 'General manager' post going to work? Is it similar to director of football & the new boss being more of a head coach, rather than a manager? E.g. will the general manager be doing the player contracts, etc? Or is it more of a business role? Will have an impact as to what sort of a manager we will be looking for..
  2. Fair enough, I wasn't necessarily meaning an ex-player (I'm probably as guilty as the rest for focusing on ex-players for the job), I'm just saying that I don't want a manager who is only applying because they aren't wanted elsewhere. I want an ambitious manager who wants to drive us on, not just paper over the cracks. Robbo was like this when he was in charge - drove us onto a challenge cup, scottish cup semi-final & promotion. Please don't think I'm advocating a return for Robbo - I'm not! Just using the example of a fresh & fairly young manager (at the time) who improved us. Different situation this time around though - we have had to hire managers due to the success they've had, rather than poor results (Brewster 2nd time around apart, of course), so maybe experience is more important this time. I'll keep an open mind!
  3. Why not indeed? CC stayed with the club after standing down from the dugout (although I realise the circumstances are totally different - but there IS a precedence). I wouldn't be against RF having some involvment with the club in the future - a legend as a player, will always be gutted for Richie that it didn't work out for him as manager..
  4. That is my worry just now - without a manager in place, will some players walk rather than wait around in case the new gaffer wants to give them a vontract?
  5. We need a manager who wants to manage ICT ,as opposed to a manager looking for a job, if that makes sense?
  6. Not forgetting Ossie Ardilles, of course.. Would only say 'Jimmy Calderwood' or 'Mark McGee' to say 'nooooooo'!!!
  7. Who would blame him for negotiating a compensation package? Richie does have a family to support & might give him some breathing space after a bruising season for us all.
  8. Not that keen on Hartley, given his alleged reluctance to move here last time he was interviewed - decent manager, though. Don't know of Paul Telfer, but Darren Dods would be a decent appointment too
  9. I'd like Jack Ross, but would he leave St Mirren who, to be fair, are at the same sort of level as us right now?
  10. Interesting...guess we will all have to wait & see. Maybe it will be someone totally unexpected..
  11. Definetly - think we should get a decent standard of applicant, although think Alan Stubbs may fancy Dundee rather than us.
  12. Wasn't Richie Foran a foreign manager (technically..)? Nitpicking aside (sorry!), I'd rather someone with a good knowledge of Scottish football.
  13. Paul Sheerin has been touted heavily & I think that would be a good shout.
  14. I wouldn't have minded if the club had offered him another post within the club, to be honest.
  15. A sad day for a true club legend but the right decision..almost feel guilty now for wishing that RF would go! Paul Sheerin for me..failing that, Darren Dods. Rather either of them than Hartley or McCann..
  16. Likewise - I really wanted Richie to succeed, but it just hasn't worked. Lets remember Richie as an inspirational player & captain. He isn't the 1st player to struggle with the move into management (Franck Sauzee & Willie Miller spring to mind) and both are, rightly, still regarded as legends by their respective clubs. Lets do likewise with Richie & wish him all the best for the future
  17. Can we add Neil McCann to the short leet then? For me, not..
  18. Waiting for the next statement re moving forward with baited breath...
  19. Second that...I'm turning blue holding my breath here...
  20. Dumbarton - heading out to Balloch (not the Inverness-shire one, the Loch Lomond one ) & Helensburgh. Used to work down that way, will try & make at least 1 of those away games). Quick drive down the A82...
  21. Yeah, that's my understanding as well - there's a statement from Richard Smith (former director) on another thread in which he says (words to the effect of) we shouldn't worry about the club finances & that the gifting of the north & south stands from Tulloch is worth about £250k per annum to the club. I'm just saying this off the top of my head, would need to read it again to confirm this.
  22. I I know the sweet sum of FA about DIY (as my Wife would testify to...), would be happy to do it as part of a group though..although basic maintenance of the stadium is something that should be a regular thing for the club to do anyway..I don't know how the club is set up for maintenance - do they have someone of staff for basic stuff or do they contract in..
