I'm sure some of you may have seen the pictures in the press this weekend of wee Lewis who sadly lost a finger because of this disastrous incident. Lewis and the family have had a very difficult time of it since this accident and it has been really hard for Simon and Luisa getting to terms with this.

What some of you may not know is that Lewis' dad is one of the posters on here,Bronson, and this tagic incident will change all their lives forever.

Hope all goes well for the future Bronson.

Wow. hadnt heard about this at all.

Sounds like an extremely horrible time for Lewis (especially) and also for Simon and Luisa who must have been frantic with worry every day since it occurred. 15 ops in a year, and more to come !!! It doesnt bear thinking about if you envision going through something like that yourself let alone having it happen a one year old toddler.....

Thoughts and best wishes with Lewis, Bronson, and Luisa.

what an ordeal! Read the story in the paper. Hope things get better soon for all the family. As for all the horrid folk commenting in the sun well I ber they are always perfect - not. When one of mine was little he scalded himself with hot tea. I felt I was to blame but it was a split second accident and we dont have eyes in the back of our heads. Get well soon Lewis.

Thanks for the kind words folks.

We decided to go to the press in a bid to raise awareness regarding the dangers of hot water in the home. There is currently no legislation in place about the safe temeperature of taps however baths are required by law to have thermostatic mixers that prevent temperatures from going above 48 deg

We are determined to fight to make a change in legislation across the country. And if we can prevent one child from going through what Lewis has endured then it will have been time well spent.

Unfortunately some papers seem to have highlighted on the possibility of legal action which is a seperate issue entirely. This is due to the fact that we have had numerous problems with our hot water tank and heating system over the last 3 years since Luisa bought the house and we have been assured on several occasions that it had been fixed and was working correctly.I was astounded that the response from the house builder in the press was along the lines of they had found no fault.

It has been a very difficult time for us as a family and the support our friends and family have given has been amazing.

Regards,

Simon, Luisa, Isla and Lewis

Around 120 degrees is what is recommended here. I usually turn the thermostat down lower because it saves gas consumption and then the tank does not burn out too quickly. And the risk of serious injury is much less.

Very sorry to hear about this terrble misfortune to Lewis. All the very best for a speedy recovery.
