Here is a link to the Dragon Boat Festival held once per year in Vancouver, B.C. Canada :

This is a boat race , held with heats, that pits 16 racing boats against each other and comprising 2,000 rowers. It' seems to be held over an approx. 400 meters course and is a big deal. Hope this link works.

Cheers

S.P.

It's funny, listening to the news they got as far as "A 63 year old man" and it instantly clicked who it was before they got to the name which was stated in rather more politically correct terms than those used by much of Hilton for decades, and before that by residents of Dalneigh in the 60s when he was the most notable among a number of notables in that notorious top end of Laurel Avenue!

I've seen many threads go of topic over the years but usually theres a link between subject and diversion. How do we get from a shooting in Hilton to a boat race in Canada?

From Mackay Road take a left onto Cauldeen Road across to Burn Road, onto Merlewood Brae, across the Ness Islands over to the canal, down Loch Ness, out to the open sea and go west - better ask for further directions

(not from CTO) from then on.

If I am going hopefully it will be via Paris Hilton

Hmm.  Could be a bit of a rough ride.

Simple:

He hustled down to the harbour where he

hopped onto one of Captain Friesen's old float planes ,

heard Canada was a good place to hide out in the wilds etc,

hot footed it to Vancouver B.C. with the keystone cops in.....

hot pursuit,

happened to see the Rio Tinto Alcan boat race in full flood and

had an inspiration that he could get lost in the shuffle of all the people milling around, so he

handily parachuted down from 3000 feet,

hit the water hard and,

by happenstance, was  hammered by a paddle and was promptly

hustled to hospital where he is currently under close surveillance and is awaiting.....

hextradition.

he claims that h-only the lonely would have done what he is claimed to have done and hopes for leniency and that he will live

happily ever after.

Have a good day, a hot toddy ...and

Hallowed be thy Name. :canada:  :scotland:

Laurel avenue! FFs. Danger zone.

Bloody right back in the 60s Lauraness... and I suspect for quite a few years after that. There were three families in that top end of Laurel Ave - let's just call them the Fs, the Ks and the Ss - who were especially feared. I lived in St Andrew Drive, so on the way home needed to cross the Laurel Ave - Dalneigh Rd roundabout. When cycling home you ALWAYS accelerated somewhat and looked left to ensure safety and if on foot.... well why the hell do you think I became a runner!!
