Hartlepool Uniteds 6'4" teenage striker Greg Rutherford jumps at the chance to go out on a months loan to Inverness Caledonia Thistle and team up with his old boss Yogi Hughes.

I will do some research to see how true this could be and if so how good he could be.

Most of our best players we got from the English Premiership of course, including Vincent (Chelsea), Warren and Draper (both Manchester United) and who could forgot Dean Brill's dramatic Champions League match in goal for Arsenal when he kept a clean sheet versus Barcelona.

Some other sad teams are probably going even further down than League Two into non-league football.  Hope we never get to that stage.

League 2 is gash. No thanks

Billy McKay

Indeed. Draper, Warren etc all came from below that level and have turned out pretty decent. However our shorter term signings and loans haven't been too hot sadly.

Should of phrased it better

An barely tried league 2 player = Rutherford

An average striker from league 2 who had proven he could work hard = Mckay

If we are going to take youngsters on loan from such a low quality league Yogi may aswell just leave and we can let Englands 4th tier laugh at how an untried player in their league i wanted by a 1st tier team in Scotland.

Once again, although you seemed to have grasped the message, Draper and Warren were regulars and arguably too good in the Conference.

What would you class the Scottish Premiership? To me its a low quality league where only one team will ever win it and the rest will take turns in the relegation zones. Around the world our league is seen as a joke with no competition for the top slot.

Our short term signings are always pretty bad, but that's always going to be the case.  If they were any good they wouldn't be short term....we'd snap them up for long term.

After slating Gary Warren's credentials before he signed i'll never pass judgement on a player again,  Gary has turned out to be one of the best centre backs to play for us and he came from the conference i think?

Arsenal?!  Hell no - Arsenal have had dodgy keepers for years now.

Deano played in the Champions League for Chelsea against Barca - it was when Petr Cech was injured.  He fell off his unicorn if I recall correctly.

League 2 is so wonderful that Sean Clohessy was a star there, Andre Blackman and Steven Craig currently get games in the wonderful League 2. Dont forget Eoin doyle of course!

Eoin chose to go there to work with Paul Cook at a time of unrest and instability at Hibs. Is that such a bad thing? Instead of slagging of lower leagues perhaps its time to slag of the big leagues who are dominating the football finances. Prize money for PL £17m, for L1 and L2 around £25k. Thats one helluva discrepancy. Just like the discrepancies between the OF and the rest of Scottish football. For players they have to make a living and choose where best to play, bearing in mind that only an exceptional few have what it takes for the top flight and theres more players than jobs around. Perhaps thats why your involvement in the game revolves around obscure never heard of clubs in obscure never heard of leagues.

Fair point about Doyle, i didnt know why he'd left, so i accept I was wrong there.

I just think despite the money, Scottish Premiership is of a higher standard than League 2. Also i think you may have been linking the Doyle-Cook relationship tot he Hughes-Rutherford relationship, fair enough, if Yogi wants to bring him, I cant stop him. On comparison to other teams and such lower teams in the table to us right now, i think considering some of those teams are bringing in Prem/Champshp loanees in we should be looking at a higher standard then League 2 to bring in a young player.

Rival, we have found some good players in the lower English leagues. We also get them at a wage we can afford. It would be great to be in a position to afford the players you'd like to see but, with our turnover, it aint likely to happen. we had loanee's from higher standard league and what happened to them?

David Davis- Active member in wolves first team

Sam Winnal- scoring for fun

Roberts- Okay he wasnt very good

And so on, some have been succesful, some havent, but you dont have to fully pay loanees, and if we cant afford them, no point getting them.
