Stuart McCall quits Motherwell

The bookies have reacted at last and McBookie have opened their book on the next manager.

Derek Adams installed as early favourite at 3/1 just ahead of Terry Butcher 4/1.

As Roughie tipped, Owen Coyle is in there at 6/1 alongside Ian Murray. The other candidate with short (< 10/1 odds) is Gary Locke.

Further down come the more outsider names - Jimmy Calderwood (I'd forgotten he'd been 'caretaker' there), Craig Brown (I thought he'd retired!) and Alex McLeish (seemingly doing a fine job in Belgium).

With the international break after our Hamilton game, it's very likely the new manager's first game in charge will be against us. If it were Deek or Tel, the extra interest would add a few to our routinely expected gate that day!

Be careful Alex...many a word spoken in jest, et al.

I hae mah doots about Richie coming back in early  course.

His injury is in the worst body part possible and he might just consider retirement into management to be a strategically- blessed move in view of his age as well.

Then I think he might turn out to be a very useful manager away from ICT because ah also hae mah doots that any place will be available to him at Tulloch .

I wonder if Motherwell may go for a cheaper option and see the likes or Lasley step into management or assistant - he's been injured, doing his badges and getting on a bit.

Every year they trim the team and cut costs yet perform at the similar level, McCall resigning is a surprise as you would think he wasnt under huge board or fan pressure and could have turned it round? Perhaps he asked for money in January as he saw the squad was too weak to maintain the previous levels and has decided to walk based on that answer?

It's a beauty business I think.

Scarlett, I think there will always be a place for Richie at ICTFC. He showed a lot of loyalty when Terry and Mo jumped ship.

Yes ocg just round from the Courier Office

Just wonder if there's any significance to the timing of Billy Stark 'stepping down' as manager of Scotland's U21s?

I'm sure the 'well fans would be looking for a more imaginative or high profile appointment but perhaps the board see Stark as an experienced guy who knows the Scottish scene inside out. A safe pair of hands, employed simply with the mandate to 'keep us up this season' and if successful an extended contract would be on the table.
