Watkins to Hearts?

This rumour did the rounds in Jan as well. More likely now they have the league secured so a looking to strengthen for next season.

Shame if he does as I like him playing as an out and out striker and think he could really excel in that position for us.

You obviously didn't make the Partick game then...  he was gash.

The tactics used at Partick didn't help Marley which made him so isolated up front. I thought he done alright off the ball and getting past their defenders, he just never had any support.

One man who definitely won't be joining Hearts is Inverness Caley Thistle winger Marley Watkins. Neilson said:

“Marley Watkins is a name that has been linked with us a few times as he is out of contract at Inverness.

“He is not a player I am looking at, though. I have young guys who have come though our system so we’re well stocked in that position.”

I'd pick a donkey with bad eyesight and 2 left feet before Tremarco.    he is awful.

Well sounds like someone has never been to a highland derby

Been to dozens of highland derbies over many years...      Are you familiar with the saying ' One swallow does not make a summer '

Tremarco was very very lucky he never got a straight red during his only derby, All I am saying is that he is no way good enough to replace Shinnie, It would be a huge drop in quality and detrimental to the team.

Whilst Tremarco may not have the same quality that Shinnie has, I'm struggling to see how it would be detrimental to the team by having Tremarco in the side.

When called upon Tremarco done well in my opinion especially the end of December- end of January period that he was in the team this season. I have no qualms about him replacing Shinnie.

Tremarco has had 8 starts this season in the league.  We have won 5, drawn 1 and lost narrowly to both Celtic and Aberdeen.  In those matches we conceded just 5 goals and never more than 2 in the same match.  It seems to me that we have done pretty well when Tremarco is in the side.  I

Guest Shaun

What have I started lol.

All I did was say that Tremarco is in pole position to replace Shinnie and now arguments have started over Tremarco's ability.

So, I am guilty for last few posts after mine; RED DOT hahahahaha.

Dean Brill??????   but you miss the point, Tremarco is a basic footballer, he does things simple, no flair, no skill, we need a player to replace Shinnie or we are heading backwards,  just my view that's all...

I can't compare Shinnie and Tremarco as they both have very different qualities. However, I would have absolutely no hesitation in using Tremarco as our first choice left back simply because I feel he is a very good defender.

I'd be delighted to see Tremarco become first choice LB.  It could be argued that he's perhaps not as versatile as Shinnie when it comes to being played in other positions (although I say that on the basis we've never seen him played elsewhere), but as a LB he's every bit as capable, IMO.

He was played at centre half a couple of times last season and did well in the games. He also played in an advanced left sided player on a couple of occasions (not so great) but the whole team suffered at that time.

Back on topic and here's one that might get folk riled up but I'll say it anyway...

I don't think that Watkins is worth a new deal, certainly not one that is on (significantly) more money than he is on now. I think he believes he is a lot better than he actually is and in recent weeks he has not been performing that well to justify a really good contract offer.
