John Beaton and Tommy Cummings brought style to Columba FC in the Welfare League and the results showed it. Training was the most tactical and enjoying that I have ever experienced. Not just running and fitness - practising moves all over the pitch.

John Beaton is still on the go coaching football. I spotted him at the Bught on Tuesday night and although he isn't all that mobile these days he still seems to be going strong. Any mention of John Beaton to Invernessians of a certain generation must immediately be accompanied by Jackie Sutherland who is no longer coaching but is still doing his bit on ICT match days.

Let's not forget Hughie Douglas - a swearing Zebidee. At a Welfare Meeting they were discussing following the rugby rule of losing 10 yards at a free kick for any un gentlemanly comments - Hughie replied " **** that, we will end up setting up the wall in Kirkhill". An old Caley man who is now a Sevco season ticket holder !!

I have a dram and a blether with Hughie, father of Buenos Hornell, from time to time in the Caley Club. He is excellent craic.
