Another club statement...

Difficult to comment without knowing what is alleged to have happened. I certainly didn't see or hear anything that would warrant this kind of response.  It's a fairly strongly worded statement though.

No doubt here more in due course.  For now, I'm heading off to the TCS for some gentle sweetie paper rustling.

Guess it was the idiots who came on the pitch after we scored.  More pathetic than threatening, the effeminate pitch  invader in the red top got a bit of a fright when when the keeper had a go back.  Unless something more serious happened club should ignore them, as it just gives them the attention they crave.

Heard at the game tonight that there was seemingly a bit of handbags between ICT and Sons fans in the main stand during half time. No idea how true that is though.

While yes some of the behaviour from some in the past has been a bit silly, these statements aren't helpful at all and just come across as cringey as hell.

If someone has broken rules or the law so be it, just deal with that person or persons no need to make a song and dance about it. 9 times out of 10 it's probaby just someone who's a bit over excited and there's no malice.

Only reason I can see why we repeatedly do this is because there's pressure from the authorities and we have to be 'seen' to be doing something about it.

That's why I remain sober and impeccably behaved at all games...

If something unseemly has occurred, surely if the club are investigating the "incident" they should tell fans, where it happened, when it happened and what the allegation is, so that fans can confirm or deny the "incident" occurred. Seems strange not to ask for witnesses to alleged wrongdoing.

I presume this relates to the young lads going on the park after the goal which was a bit daft but in no way warrants this sort of hysterical hand wringing, yet again.

This constant vilification of our dwindling support really does my head in.  Rae is presiding over an utter shambles off the park, and serious under performance on the park, and seems to be using these regular attacks on our own fans to deflect from these glaring shortcomings.  You can guarantee that there will be yet another negative article on the BBC website this afternoon which is completely unwarranted.

I'd be more interested in hearing when our emergency loan players are arriving or an update on the impact our COO and Commercial Manager are having on addressing the aforementioned operational shortcomings.

A statement on the status of our COO would be better ! Rumour going around the stadium is that he has been gone for months. Might explain the absolute shambles behind the scenes these days.

The alleged incident(s) took place in the Main Stand at the refreshment stalls where fans of both sides were mixing. Punches were thrown and scuffles broke out. Utterly embarrassing antics especially given the ages of the fans concerned.

It is difficult to know what the point of the statement is.  Inevitably there will be incidents from time to time which warrant some action and perhaps referral to the police, but which do not require any specific statement from the club, let alone the Chairman.  For the Chairman to get involved one would assume there was actually quite a serious incident.

If we assume there was a serious incident then the investigation  may or may not require further witnesses to be sought.  If it didn't (for example if the incident was on a coach where every potential witness was known and traceable) then simply carry out the investigation and report on any findings in the event of some significant action being required.

If further witnesses might be helpful to the inquiry then just make a civil request in a low key manner.  For instance, the club's statement about Saturday's  win "the cup's back in Inverness - congratulations!" could have come from the Chairman himself with just a brief mention of the allegations.  He could have written something along the lines of "unfortunately the day was marred slightly by the abusive behaviour of a small number of our supporters.  Complaints have been made and the club is investigating.  If anyone has information which might assist the investigation, the club would be grateful to hear from you."

As it is, the statement comes across as though we are all naughty school children getting a good telling off from the headmaster.  It also gives the impression that the Chairman is more intent on punishing the miscreants than on celebrating the achievement of winning the Challenge Cup.  As others have said, the Chairman should be issuing statements about what is actually happening behind the scenes at TCS.  There is a danger that issuing  this rather crass statement actually does more harm to the reputation of the club than whatever a small section of the support might have got up to.

Good question. I haven't seen Danny around in ages and he was nowhere to be seen in hospitality yesterday. Real shame if he is no longer around, was a nice friendly guy to chat with and seemed so passionate about improving the club.

Another pop by this board at our supporters yet when safety concerns are raised in regards to away fans at home games and threatening behaviour by them abuse received by them the board bury its head in the sand as its a money saving exercise no to open the south stand. If they are going to impose the rules consistency is required otherwise they are victimising an easy target.

My understanding is that SPFL rules prevent the same individual from being COO and Academy Director. Danny has hence moved entirely to the football side, overseeing Project Brave as well as other football matters, so is by no means "gone". The operational side, I believe, is being undertaken by Jim Oliver and there is some marketing input as well.

I am interested to note that Phenom appears so well versed with ICT's behind the scenes operations that he is in a position to write them off as "an absolute shambles"..... but at the same time he appears not even to know who does which job nor even who is or isn't in the employ of the club.

The practice I spoke about in an earlier post of comparing willies behind the bike sheds in the hope that yours will be the smallest so you can blame your parents for it seems to be alive and well.

It always seems to have to be somebody else's fault.

that seems a reasonable explanation. Just wondering why is seems such a big secret?

I was trying to stay out of this debate, but just have to bite at this one. sorry :

Charles - if this is the case with Danny then its a pretty significant change within ICT and seems to merit a press release far more than this most recent one. Hell, it doesnt even take more than a couple of sentences to portray the loss of the COO and - by your account - his replacement with the commercial manager in a positive light !!!  If you say something along the lines of "Danny is moving to be Academy director to oversee the Brave project, this will hopefully help develop more young players of the calibre of Ryan Christie or (in time we hope) Daniel Mackay that this club needs to survive. we will always be a selling club blah blah blah .... Jim Oliver will have increased responsibilities on the commercial side as we seek to further encourage that side of the business"  . This stops any rumours dead in their tracks and shows the board have a clear plan or vision for the future. MY only questions on this would be ICT or Highland Football Academy?

Instead we get another half-baked statement about fan behaviour that literally wags a finger and says nothing of note. If there was an incident then the security or police personnel at the stadium deal with it. If there are found to be ICT fans involved then the club can make a comment or take action later. issuing a statement like this - much like the twitter porn thing - simply alerts the press to make the most of what is typically a nothing story. There is a time to make statements, and a time to listen and gather facts quietly. I would suggest that the club consider using the latter a bit more.

Obviously I can only repeat what I have heard from a reliable source. Steps to make that known generally are obviously the board's. As far as I can see, Jim's role doesn't go as far as COO since it appears to be confined to day to day non-football operation and commercial activities while Danny, since he seems also to have oversight of first team activities, could possibly be said to be de facto Director of Football.

It could also be suggested that if the club had a working and viable fans' organisation, one of the many benefits would certainly have been the fans being kept better informed in a number of ways.

What troubles me at the moment is the desire among some fans to find, and even create, things to complain about. The old board got it, and now the new board is getting it. The old benefactors got it and now the current ones are. The old team management got it (OK, no real problem with that ) and the new management is getting it as well. What makes that whole sentiment especially difficult to swallow is that some reactions to difficulties seem almost to extend to schadenfreude.

It's possibly not what has gone wrong of late that is the remarkable thing, but that it took so long to do so and also the length of time that things went very right in the face of a raft of fundamental adversities.
