Caley Thistle have not been beaten by Dundee United in their last 6 meetings, lets hope that the streak continues, but with Brewster gone and Levein now in his place, United seem to be performing better so it will be yet another hard game for ICT.

 PAST MEETINGS

The teams have played a total of 12 times (9 League, 3 Cup) with 28 goals (15 Inverness CT, 13 Dundee Utd) between them.

Inverness CT: 3 wins (2 League, 1 Cup)

 Draws: 6 (5 League, 1 Cup)

Dundee Utd: 3 wins (2 League, 1 Cup)

 A GAME TO REMEMBER

 For

this weeks game to remember we take you back to Inverness CT’s first

ever victory over Dundee Utd. In their previous 7 attempts Inverness

had failed to beat the Terrors but the midweek CIS Cup match gave them

another chance to break the duck. Only 2 minutes had gone when Liam Fox

put Inverness CT into an early lead. And with 4 minutes left of the

first half, Barry Wilson capitalised on a keeper error to slam the ball

home making it 2-0 and very difficult for United to come back. If I

remember correctly Barry Robson hit the woodwork 3 times during the

match!! The 2nd half didn’t bring any goals giving Caley Thistle their

first victory over Dundee United in history. Inverness CT eventually

lost in the next round away to Livingston. The attendance was 1919.

 The teams were as follows:

INVERNESS CT: Brown, Duncan, Dods, Munro, Morgan, Proctor, Hart, Fox, Wilson, Wyness, McAllister.

Subs- Black (for McAllister), Fraser, Parratt, Finnigan, Brewster.

DUNDEE UTD: Stillie, McCracken, Ritchie, Archibald, Wilson, Canero, Brebner, Duff, Robson, Miller, Fernandez.

Subs- Samuel (for Duff), McIntyre (for Miller), McInnes (for Canero), Kenneth, McLean.

 The

referee was John Underhill and there was only 1 booking on the day:

Miller of Dundee Utd. Nine of the Inverness players who started the

match still play for the club!

 FACTS BETWEEN THE TEAMS

 •	All League meetings between the teams have taken place in the SPL.

 •	Inverness CT are currently unbeaten in the last 6 meetings between the sides.

 •	Dundee Utd never lost any of the first 7 meetings between the teams.

 •	The biggest wins were by Inverness CT 2-0 and 4-2 last season.

 •	Craig Dargo (Inverness CT) was the last person to score in the fixture.

 PLAYERS TO WATCH

 Stuart

McCaffrey (Inverness CT): The ex-Aberdeen and Hibs player has been

subjected to the bench since he got sent off against Kilmarnock in

October 2004, only making rare starts. This is all because of a very

solid ICT defence which has kept out Golabek aswell. However with Dods

getting sent off last week this gives McCaffrey a chance in getting a

place in the defence, in the same way Dods did it 2 years ago. Stuart

has played the majority of reserve games this year and is eager to gain

his place back. Stuart has made over 180 apps for the club and is keen

to get playing regular SPL football again.

 Noel Hunt (Dundee

Utd): Craig Brewster signed Hunt during the summer transfer window of

this year. However Noel failed to shine under Brewster’s guidance,

although still managed a couple of goals. With the new arrival of Craig

Levein though, he has started finding the goals again and will return

 from injury for Saturdays game.

 FUTURE FIXTURES

3rd Mar 2007 at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium

 NOTE:

The Scottish Cup 3rd round draw takes place on Saturday shortly after

5pm at the Meadowbank Stadium where Edinburgh City v Stirling Albion is

taking place. Inverness CT will be number 20 in the draw which takes

place live on BBC Scotland TV and Radio.

However, fast forward 7 days to last week and it was Motherwell handing out the 'doing' at Fir Park by beating Falkirk 4-2. With the visiting side winning each of the last 5 fixtures between the sides (3 wins for ICT at FP, 2 for 'Well at TCS) its a difficult game to predict. Andrew Fraser supplies the preview.

 A GAME TO REMEMBER

 For

this weeks game to remember we take you back another one of Inverness’s

great cup killing shocks. On the 6th March 2004 in the Scottish Cup

Quarter finals, Inverness CT were drawn away to Motherwell. Inverness

were going strong in the league and we full of confidence heading to

Fir Park. What we didn’t know was that Barry Wilson was to score a

wonder goal. Both teams started the game well but after 10 mins,

Inverness took the lead thanks to goal of the season by Wilson. Barry

received the ball 35 yards+ from goal and he chested it and striked a

half volley that dipped over Marshall. By far goal of the round.

Motherwell never really got going throughout the match and Inverness CT

had a few chances to finish the tie in the second half but they

eventually held out to reach the semi-finals for the first ever time in

their history. The look on Barry’s face at the end of the game showed

how much it meant to him as he was delighted. The attendance was 7930.

 The teams were as follows:

INVERNESS CT: Brown, Tokely, Mann, McCaffrey, Golabek, McBain, Duncan, Thomson, Wilson, Ritchie, Keogh.

Subs- Munro (for Thomson), Proctor (for Ritchie), Fraser, Hart, McMillan.

MOTHERWELL: Marshall, Quinn, Corrigan, Craigan, Hammell, Lasley, Adams, Fagan, Burns, McDonald, Clarkson.

Subs- O’Donnell (for Fagan), Wright (for Clarkson), Corr, K.McDonald, Kinniburgh.

 The

referee was Kenny Clark and there were NO bookings on the day. Eight of

the Inverness players who started the match still play for the club.

 FACTS BETWEEN THE TEAMS

 •	All League meetings between the teams have taken place in the SPL.

 •

Only twice has a team scored 3 or more goals in this fixture and both

teams have had the joy. Inverness CT were the latest in the last

fixture winning 4-1 away at Fir Park.

 • In games between the two

teams, not a lot of goals have been scored so don’t expect a goal fest

this weekend, but if the last game is anything to go by, we may see a

 few goals.

 OVERVIEW

This is a big match for

both teams. Motherwell bounced back last week after getting hammered

6-1 by Hibs the week before. They beat Falkirk 4-2 after another high

scoring game. Motherwell are putting in a mixture of different

performances and know that they need to get a run of victories to ease

any relegation worries. Scott McDonald managed to score the 5000th SPL

goal last week which will give him confidence. They have had 16

bookings in their last 6 games but no player has scored in two

consecutive games in these 6 games.

 Inverness CT have not won

since they beat Falkirk 3-2 at home on the 21st October. This sounds

like a worrying statistic but Inverness are still in a contention for a

top six and to be fair, their fixtures in November (Aberdeen, Hibs,

Celtic and Hearts) were very tough. Christie will be looking for his

players to turn some draws into wins in December with a decent set of

fixtures against teams around about them. Inverness CT haven’t scored

in 283 minutes of football and they will be looking to end this early

in the match on Saturday. They have had 24 bookings in their last 12

games and one red card. I don’t think Christie cares who scores on

Saturday, as long as somebody does and it gives the Highlanders the

 three points.

FIXTURES

Saturday 25th November:

Dunfermline v Aberdeen

Inverness CT v Hearts

Motherwell v Falkirk

Sunday 26th November:

Dundee Utd v St Mirren

Hibernian v Celtic (Setanta, 2pm)

Rangers v Kilmarnock

SPL ROUND-UP

Only 12 goals were scored in the 6 games last weekend. At least there wasn’t any Monday night football!! Aberdeen kept up the pressure on 2nd place with a well deserved 2-0 over St Mirren. Darren Mackie got a much needed 2 goals for his club keeping up the form of Aberdeen and pushing St Mirren further down near the bottom of the table.

Celtic eventually stopped any chance of Caley going Ballistic at Celtic Park. A Dods own goal, Hesselink and Jarosik gave Celtic a 3-0 victory after a closely fought first half. Had Inverness CT gone in front in the 1st minute when they created a great chance, it would have been a different story. Inverness CT are yet to beat Celtic in the SPL, but I am sure it will happen eventually.

Dunfermline look set for a bright future as their new manager Kenny watched this game from the stands. Craig Levein lost his first game as Dundee Utd manager as they lost 2-1. Robson opened the scoring for Utd but Shields and Mason gave the Pars the much needed 3pts to take them level with Motherwell.

Kilmarnock came from behind as well to beat Falkirk 2-1. Again the away side took the lead through, yes you guessed it, Anthony Stokes. Hay and an O’Donnell own goal gifted Killie the win. Colin Nish was sent off for Kilmarnock after 88 mins.

The result of the day however came from Fir Park where Motherwell were completely brushed aside by a fast flowing Hibernian side. John Collins already seems to be continuing the good work of Tony Mowbray, especially after this 6-1 victory. Goals from Brown, Killen, Sproule 2, Jones and Shiels secured the trouncing even though Maguire scored a consolation for the Well. Malpas must be wondering how long he can survive especially after losing by such a considerable score line. He will have to lift the players before next weeks home match against Falkirk or could end up bottom on their own. On the other hand, this isn’t a better time for Hibs to entertain Celtic next week. Well done John Collins after a terrific start as manager!!

On Sunday, there was a pulsating match at Tynecastle between Hearts and Rangers. There was only one goal however, and it came from Nacho Novo for Rangers with 12 mins to go. A total of 7 players were booked but none were sent off. 5 were for Rangers with only 2 for Hearts.

So after 15 games, Celtic lead by 15pts and Dunfermline and Motherwell are bottom by 2pts.

PAST MEETINGS

The teams have played a total of 8 times (7 League, 1 Cup) with 15 goals (7 Inverness CT, 8 Hearts) between them.

Inverness CT: 2 wins (1 League, 1 Cup)

Draws: 3 (3 League, 0 Cup)

Hearts: 3 wins (3 League, 0 Cup)

A GAME TO REMEMBER

For this weeks game to remember we take you back another one of Inverness’s great cup killing shocks. On the 26th January 2001 in the Scottish Cup 4th round, Inverness CT were drawn away to Hearts. Nobody predicted a shock, but Inverness weren’t listening. A tremendous display from the inform 1st Division side gave the Highlanders another giant cup killing act to add to their collection. Ross Tokely’s opener was cancelled out just before the break by Gary Wales of Hearts. A few thought that was the chance of a shock gone but Inverness showed the world how to play football in the second half when Dennis Wyness and David Bagan both slotted perfect goals to gift Inverness CT passage to the Quarter-final. Man of the match was Hearts fan Ross Tokely. The attendance was 12016.

The teams were as follows:

INVERNESS CT: Walker, Tokely, Mann, McCaffrey, McBain, Munro, Duncan, Chrisite, Robson, Ritchie, Wyness.

Subs- Bagan (for Christie), Calder, Bavidge, Golabek, Stewart.

HEARTS: Niemi, Webster, Severin, Mahe, Maybury, Flogel, Gronlund, Fulton, McCann, Fuller, Wales.

Subs- Kirk (for Webster), Simmons (for McCann), Adam (for Wales), McKenzie, Kazcan.

The referee was Alan Freeland and there were two bookings on the day: Duncan and Robson both of Inverness CT. Six of the Inverness players who started the match still play for the club and one is now the manager!

FACTS BETWEEN THE TEAMS

• All League meetings between the teams have taken place in the SPL.

• Paul Hartley is the top scorer in the fixture with 2 goals.

• Inverness CT have never beaten Hearts at home. They have played 3 times in Inverness resulting in 2 draws and a 1-0 win for Hearts.

TOP SCORERS

2 goals: Hartley (Hearts)

1 goal: Tokely, Wyness, Bagan, Juanjo, Dods, Wilson, Bayne (all ICT), Wales, Skacel, Pinilla, Mole, Driver, Aguiar (all Hearts).

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Dennis Wyness (Inverness CT): The ex-Hearts man has been on the sidelines for Inverness the past few weeks after an injury that has kept him out since August 26th. He could finally get called on from the start on Saturday after Caley Thistle going goal-shy upfront in the last two games. A great player who set up a great partnership with Craig Dargo last year is eager to get back into the starting 11 and score his first goal of the season on Saturday.

Steven Pressley (Hearts): The (possibly ex) Hearts captain is a rock solid Scotland internationalist who is one of the main reasons behind Hearts success in the last few years. Although after he spoke out about the turmoil, he has been dropped for the last 2 games with apparently his armband stripped from him. If the Jambos were to lose this guy, it would be a big loss and one the management team might just regret.

Manager (Hearts): Whoever it may be. Will there actually be a manager on Saturday? Who knows!!

SPL ROUND-UP

It was another 3-day SPL weekend last week and not a lot of high scoring games. Aberdeen continued climbing the table after a deserved 2-1 win at home to Motherwell. Smith and Miller for the Dons and an own goal by Hart which was a bizarre one, gave Motherwell some hope.

Craig Levein is showing that Dundee Utd can perform after another good home performance. They beat Kilmarnock 1-0 thanks to Noel Hunt. It was a deserved win which means Levein has already equalled the amount of wins Brewster got in the SPL in 10 months!!

Hibernian controlled the game against Inverness CT but the highlanders had a strong defence throughout the first half and created the best chance with Dargo and Bayne having a great chance but the Hibs keeper, Malkowski was on form which meant Inverness couldn’t find a way past him and eventually lost 2-0 with goals from Fletcher and a Killen penalty. Mark Brown was sent off meaning Michael Fraser will get a very rare starting place at Celtic Park this Saturday.

Rangers finally got a much needed victory with a 2-0 win at home against Dunfermline. Boyd and Smith scored for the Gers and gave Le Guen a much needed 3pts but they will have to play better to keep a hold of second place in the next few weeks.

Onto Sunday and a surprise hat-trick hero in Thomas Gravesen at Love Street. Celtic beat the hosts 3-1 with Gravesen just walking through the Saints defence at times. John Sutton got the consolation for St Mirren in a one-sided affair.

Monday night football produced another 1-1 scoreline. Hearts were without Pressley for some strange reason and the turmoil at Hearts just keeps going on and on and on. Velicka opened the scoring for the Jambos but the never too old Russell Latapy equalised with 6 mins remaining. It was an even game which both teams could have won.

PAST MEETINGS

The teams have played a total of 10 times (7 League, 3 Cup) with 30 goals (11 Inverness CT, 19 Celtic) between them.

Inverness CT: 2 wins (0 League, 2 Cup)

Draws: 2 (2 League, 0 Cup)

Celtic: 6 wins (5 League, 1 Cup)

THE TWO FAMOUS NIGHTS

08/02/2000 (Scottish Cup 3rd Round) Celtic 1-3 INVERNESS CT:

This game will always be remembered for all Inverness fans as this is regarded as the biggest result of Caley Thistle’s history so far. The original game was postponed due to apart of the roof falling off. In 16 minutes Barry Wilson headed in Paul Sheerin’s cross to the home fans shock. Mark Burchill scored a minute later but Bobby Mann restored the lead (some people say it was an own goal, but I call it Bobby’s goal!!). 10 minutes into the second half Paul Sheerin slotted home a penalty to the travelling fans delight. Steve Patterson was quoted as saying- “I think this is the moment Inverness arrived in Scottish football”. It sure was with the headline from the Sun reading “Super Caley Go Ballistic, Celtic Are Atrocious!!!!!!!”.

The team for Inverness was as follows- Calder, Teasdale, Golabek, Mann, McCulloch, Hastings, Sheerin, Tokely (Byers 89), Wilson (Glancy 87), Christie and Wyness (Bavidge 79).

23/03/2003 (Scottish Cup Quarter-Final) INVERNESS CT 1-0 Celtic:

Was lighting going to strike twice? It certainly was as even though Celtic had just beaten Liverpool, Inverness always believed they could do it. Even Bobby Mann mentioned before the game that he thought there would be another Highland Fling!! The only goal of the game was when Richie Hart pulled the ball across for Dennis Wyness to slot home. The second half seemed to last a life-time but eventually John Robertson had copied the heights of Steve Patterson. Two people’s performances I want to mention are Stuart McCaffrey for marking Larsson sensationally well and Mark Brown for making good saves and getting the Man of the Match.

FACTS BETWEEN THE TEAMS

All League meetings between the teams have taken place in the SPL.

Inverness CT have never won a league match against Celtic.

John Hartson is the top scorer in the fixture with 7 goals.

Dennis Wyness is the top scorer for Inverness CT with 3 goals.

If Celtic beat Inverness CT on Saturday, they will have gone a clean sweep of 11 SPL victories.

The Highlanders were the last team to take a point of them, securing a 1-1 draw at home.

TOP SCORERS

7 goals: John Hartson (Celtic)

3 goals: Dennis Wyness (ICT)

2 goals: Barry Wilson (ICT), Craig Beattie (Celtic), Alan Thompson (Celtic), Shaun Maloney (Celtic)

1 goal: Sheerin, Ritchie, Moravcik (own goal), Dargo Hart, Munro (all ICT), Burchill, Petrov, Sutton, Bellamy, McManus, Pearson (all Celtic).

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Michael Fraser (Inverness CT): Fraser is normally the first name everyone expects to see listed on the subs bench, but on Saturday he has a chance to shine against Celtic after Inverness’ number 1 Mark Brown got sent off last weekend. Michael has only ever started 1 game for Inverness, against Falkirk last season in May, however what a chance he has if he has a good game against Celtic to get a run in the side. From reserves games, he looks like he has the potential to succeed. Good luck to him on Saturday as we all know it will be tough.

Thomas Gravesen (Celtic): The ex-Real Madrid midfielder was a superb signing by Gordon Strachan during the Summer transfer window. Although it has taken him a while to shine in the green and white but after last Sunday’s hat-trick against St Mirren, he is in superb form and eager to continue impressing. Currently has 4 SPL goals and has superb skill on a good day. Will be keen to play against Man Utd on Wednesday.

SPL ROUND-UP

During

last weekend, 3 games were decided by late goals and a double hat-trick

for a Falkirk player. Celtic increased their lead at the top of the

table thanks to a last gasp victory over Hearts. Hearts had taken a

deserved lead after 72 mins with Velicka scoring. However Jarosik

equalised on the 86th minute and an own goal by Craig Gordon gifted

Celtic the 3pts and another big step closer to the title.

There is

nothing stopping Anthony Stokes, as he bagged his second hat-trick in

as many games to help Falkirk defeat Dunfermline 3-0. The Republic of

Ireland player has been called up to his countries B squad next week

against Scotland.

John Collins 1st game as manager of Hibernian

finished 2-2 against Kilmarnock at home. Both teams were leading at

some point but a draw was about right. Motherwell and St Mirren

produced a stalemate at Fir Park with John Sutton missing a penalty for

the Saints.

Craig Levein’s first game as Dundee Utd manager on Sunday

couldn’t have gone better. Rangers took the lead through Charlie Adam

on 50 mins, but Rangers starting sitting back and Utd eventually got

the equaliser through Gary Kenneth and secured 3pts with a late winner

by Lee Mair. If Rangers fans thought this was bad, little did they

know, they would lose at home to St Johnstone on Wednesday.

On Monday

night, it was a northern derby with Inverness looking to beat Aberdeen

for the first ever time. After a dull first half, the game livened up

in the second and Caley Thistle deservedly took the lead through a

header by Graham Bayne. All was looking good for 3pts until Steve

Lovell scored a last minute goal with his knee as Inverness didn’t deal

with the cross. Not bad attendance either!!

So after 13 games,

Celtic are looking odds on to win the title after bookies have started

to pay out. The relegation battle looks exciting as long as Inverness

CT don’t fall into it which I don’t think will happen.

PAST MEETINGS

The teams have played a total of 7 times (7 League, 0 Cup) with 16 goals (11 Inverness CT, 5 Hibernian) between them.

Inverness CT: 4 wins (4 League, 0 Cup)

Draws: 1 (1 League, 0 Cup)

Hibernian: 2 wins (2 League, 0 Cup)

A GAME TO REMEMBER

For

this weeks game to remember we take you back to the biggest win in this

fixture. It took place at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium in the SPL on

the 02/03/2005. This was Inverness’ only second game in Inverness in

the SPL after ground sharing with Aberdeen for the first half of the

season. Inverness out played Hibs for the whole game and deserved their

3-0 victory. Goals came from Juanjo, Brewster and Wilson. The

attendance was 4443.

The teams were as follows:

INVERNESS CT: Brown, Tokely, Munro, Dods, Golabek, Wilson, Hart, Duncan, McBain, Brewster, Juanjo.

Subs- Proctor (for Hart), Bayne (for Brewster), Fatai (for Juanjo), Fraser, McCaffrey, Hastings, Prunty.

HIBERNIAN: Simon Brown, Whittaker, Caldwell, Smith, Murphy, Orman, Antonio Murray, Ian Murray, Scott Brown, O’Connor, Riordan.

Subs- Shiels (for Orman), McDonald (for A.Murray), Sproule (for I.Murray), Brown, McCluskey, Morrow, Konte.

The

referee was John Underhill and there were three bookings on the day all

for Hibernian: Antonio Murray, Murphy and Ian Murray. Nine of the

Inverness players who started the match still play for the club. Only

Craig Brewster and Juanjo have left.

FACTS BETWEEN THE TEAMS

All League meetings between the teams have taken place in the SPL. There have been no cup ties between the teams

Inverness have won four out of the last five meetings. In the four wins, Hibernian had only scored once.

Barry Wilson is the top scorer in this fixture with 4 goals.

Hibernian have had the same manager in all 6 fixtures, until today when

John Collins take charge against Inverness CT for the first time.

Inverness CT have had 3 different managers during the 6 matches.

TOP SCORERS

4 goals: Barry Wilson (ICT)

3 goals: Derek Riordan (Hibs)

2 goals: Juanjo (ICT)

1 goal: Brewster (ICT), Proctor (ICT), Wyness (ICT), Dargo (ICT), Dods (ICT),

Beuzilin (Hibs), Fletcher (Hibs).

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Graham

Bayne (ICT): The Caley Thistle forward has just signed a new 2 and a

half year deal and after scoring against Aberdeen on Monday will be

looking to continue adding to his tally. The ex-Ross County man is

always seen heading the ball and has a good shot. He has never scored

against Hibernian and will be looking to break his duck against them on

Saturday.

Chris Killen (Hibernian): The striker is a great

player with a lot of potential. He currently has scored 7 SPL goals and

is a Graham Bayne like player. He has taken over the scoring boots

after Riordan and O’Connor left and John Collins will be working hard

on lowering his crime count with already 6 yellows and 2 reds this

season. Also has never scored in this fixture.

SPL ROUND-UP

Again,

only 4 games took place on the Saturday; with the SPL fixtures now

spread over 3 days. It was the same fixtures that took place on the

opening day. Craig Brewster’s reign as Dundee Utd manager ended quicker

than Santa Clause could save him. He lasted from Janurary to November

so he didn’t even survive a Christmas or a whole year showing that he

couldn’t break the ICT curse. Anyway back to last Saturday, Dundee Utd

were thrashed 5-1 at the Falkirk Stadium. I really feel for Malky

Thompson who was happy at Inverness and now has no job. The highlight

was Anthony Stokes hat-trick which won him young player of the month

for Falkirk. If that wasn’t enough for a weekend, Hearts were told by

Romanov that the whole team would be put on the transfer list if they

didn’t win against Dunfermline. The game ended 1-1 but no Hearts

players have left this week. Although with the comments of the chairman

and a caretaker manager who needs an interpreter on the touchline,

Hearts fans aren’t very confident. Motherwell became the second team in

a row to leave Ibrox with something. Boyd scored for the Gers but Kerr

equalised for Motherwell, giving the Well a valuable point against a

lacklustre Gers performance. At Love Street, St Mirren and Inverness CT

fought out a 1-1 draw aswell. Dargo got his 5th goal of the season for

Inverness in the first half but Kean deservedly equalised in the second

half. Inverness are now 6 games unbeaten in the SPL which has won

Charlie Christie manager of the month for October. To Sunday, and

Celtic came from behind to beat Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. Nish opened

the scoring but Nakamura and Miller got the 3pts for the Celts. And on

Monday night, Aberdeen scored a last minute winner with a potential

goal of the season for Scott Severin. Aberdeen won the game 2-1 after

Hibernian had been in the lead through Killen. So in other words, not a lot happened last week!!!!!!!!

PAST MEETINGS

The teams have played a total of 11 times (7 League, 4 Cup) with 19 goals (5 Inverness CT, 14 Aberdeen) between them.

Inverness CT: 0 wins (0 League, 0 Cup)

Draws: 5 (4 League, 1 Cup)

Aberdeen: 6 wins (3 League, 3 Cup)

SOME

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

08/08/1998 (League Cup 2nd Round) INVERNESS

CT 0-3 Aberdeen: In the first game between the sides it was a Billy

Dodds hat-trick that gave the top-flight side the win. Inverness CT was

a 2nd Division side at the time.

20/02/2000 (Scottish Cup 4th Round) INVERNESS CT 1-1 Aberdeen:

After the excellent achievements of beating Celtic at Parkhead in the

previous round, the gift was a home-tie against Aberdeen which was

screened live by Sky-Sports. Bobby Mann’s header looked as if it would

have taken the Caley Jags through but Cato Gunviet scored with 10

minutes remaining meaning a replay was to be played. Both scorers got

yellow cards during the match. Aberdeen won the replay 1-0.

16/10/2004 (SPL) INVERNESS CT 1-3 Aberdeen (Pittodrie):

With all the media hype about Aberdeen playing away at Pittodrie was a

joke before this game. Inverness were paying Aberdeen £30,000 for the

day plus Aberdeen didn’t need to travel to Inverness. And plus they

still got the victory thanks to 2 penalties. Roy McBain got the goal

for Caley Thistle which was a great goal.

FACTS BETWEEN THE TEAMS

•	All League meetings between the teams have taken place in the SPL.

•	Aberdeen are unbeaten in all fixtures between the teams.

•

The biggest win in the fixture was when Aberdeen won 3-1 on 16/4/2004

away to us at Pittodrie! McBain scored Inverness’s solo goal.

• Inverness CT are currently on a 7 match unbeaten run.

•	Aberdeen have lost their last 2 away matches in the SPL.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Barry

Wilson (ICT): The Caley Thistle right winger is a key member of the

Highlanders side. He hasn’t scored since Inverness last played Aberdeen

but his contribution is vital to the team. An experienced player, who,

on his day, can still produce a few effective, runs down the right hand

side causing defences many problems. He is looking to enter coaching

after his playing days are over and hopefully he will join the ICT

coaching staff.

Lee Miller (Aberdeen): The ex-Dundee Utd striker

has still to find his scoring boots at Aberdeen since his arrival on

the last day of the summer transfer window. He currently has only 1

goal to his name and wants to get a run of goals going to cement his

place in the starting eleven.FUTURE FIXTURES13th Jan 2007 at Pittodrie Stadium

SPL ROUND-UP

Last

weekend began the Monday night football by Setanta meaning only 4 games

went ahead on Saturday. Aberdeen overcame Dundee Utd to increase more

pressure on ex-Inverness manager Craig Brewster. Mackie and Nicolson 2

was enough to secure a 3-1 for the Dons. Robson scored for Utd. Celtic

narrowly beat Motherwell by 2 goals to 1. Zurawski and an own goal were

just enough for the 3pts for the league leaders. McDonald scored for

the Well. Kilmarnock stunned Hearts at Tynecastle with goals from

Invincible and Wales giving Killie an unlikely win. The drama however

occurred at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium. Falkirk went 2-0 up with a

double from Anthony Stokes but an inspired half time team talk from

Christie gave the Highlanders a lift with Dargo scoring on 70 mins.

With 8 mins left Rankin scored his first ever goal for the club with a

well placed freekick. He did the same 4 minutes later to give Caley

Thistle an astonishing comeback to sneck the 3pts. Inverness CT are now

6 games unbeaten and in 5th. On Sunday another 3-2 scoreline in the

match between St Mirren and Rangers. Rangers managed to pick themselves

up after last weeks home defeat to Inverness with goals from Adam,

Buffel and Novo. A Sutton double wasn’t enough for the Saints. On

Monday, a comprehensive 4-0 victory for Hibs live on Setanta. Sproule,

Benjelloun and a Killen double gave the caretaker manager Mark Proctor

a chance of getting the job.

After one round of matches, Celtic lead and Dundee Utd prop up the table.

PAST MEETINGS

The teams have played a total of 21 times (17 League, 4 Cup) with 62 goals (44 Inverness CT, 18 St Mirren) between them.

Inverness CT: 12 wins (8 League, 4 Cup)

Draws: 5 (5 League, 0 Cup)

St Mirren: 4 wins (4 League, 0 Cup)

A GAME TO REMEMBER

For

this weeks game to remember we take you back to the first ever match

between the teams. It took place on the 10th of August 1999 in the

Scottish Challenge Cup. Inverness CT won the match 1-0 thanks to an

88th minute Mike Teasdale goal. The attendance on the day was 1334.

The teams were as follows:

INVERNESS

CT: Fridge, Mann, Tokely, Hastings, Golabek, Teasdale, Christie,

McCulloch, Sheerin, Stewart, McLean. Subs- Robson, Shearer, Glancy.

ST MIRREN: Roy, McLaughlin, Turner, Baltacha, Nicolson, Murray, Drew, Kerr, McGarry, Brown, Yardley. Subs- Mendes, Lavety, Ross.

The

referee was Garry Mitchell and there were no bookings on the day. Three

Inverness players still play for the club and there is one who is now

the manager of the club.

FACTS BETWEEN THE TEAMS

•	All League meetings between the teams have taken place in the First Division so far apart from one.

•	Inverness CT have won all cup meetings between the sides.

•	Inverness CT’s Paul Ritchie is the top scorer in the fixture with 8 goals. Next is Dennis Wyness with 6.

•	St Mirren’s top scorer in the fixture is Yardley with 3.

•

The biggest win in the fixture was when Inverness CT won 5-0 on

6/5/2000. McCulloch got 2, with Xausa, Wilson and Bavidge all getting

one goal.

• The last meeting was on 29/7/2006. It was the first ever

SPL game between the sides at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium. St Mirren

managed to win 2-1 after Dargo heading Inverness infront. Kean and

Sutton scored for the Saints.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Ian

Blacks replacement (ICT): Inverness will have to make at least one

change to the starting line-up this week. Ian Black starts a two-game

suspension and the competition for his place is tough. Russell Duncan

has been made to give up his place to John Rankin this year and only

made sub appearances in the SPL so far with two or three starts. He did

well for us last season and he may get a chance this weekend. Liam

Keogh is another hard working midfielder looking for chance on

Saturday. Keogh has managed to come back from a lengthy injury spell to

be in contention again. However, my guess is Richie Hart. The ex Ross

County man came on as a sub last week and made a tremendous impact on

the game. A player who has pace and a shot to trouble any keeper from

distance. It’s good to see the healthy back up for just one place in

the team but it is up to Charlie who gets it. Another option could be

moving McBain into the middle and putting Morgan on the left but I

think Hart will get the nod.

Ross Tokely (ICT): We are playing St Mirren. Enough said.

John

Sutton (St Mirren): The brother of Chris Sutton has started to find his

scoring boots in the SPL. He managed to score two goals last week

against Rangers at home. His tally currently stands at 6 goals and will

be looking to add to it this weekend against Inverness CT.
