With the votes now tallied for the final few games of the season, it can finally be confirmed that the winner of this season's CaleyThistleOnline Player of the Year award is striker Craig Dargo. Although Craig had it sewn up weeks ago, the race for the runner up spots was changing almost weekly. Darren Dods finished as runner up and Barry Wilson, Mark Brown and Ian Black completed the top 5. |

Darren 'The Machine' Dods, who won the supporters player of the Year award managed to hold off the challenges of Mark Brown and Barry Wilson to retain second spot and Ian Black, out injured for a few weeks towards the end of the season rounds out the top 5.
Special mentions must also go to 2003/04 POY winner Liam Keogh who only came back into the side after injury for the last few games and managed to amass 69 votes and 7 POY points and also to youngster Zander Sutherland who received 10 votes for the Falkirk game where he made his debut.
Unfortunately for Zander, 10 votes was not enough to get any Player of the Year points for this game as Tokely, Duncan and Keogh all got slightly more votes, but it was a good start for the promising youngster.
How Does it Work ? Started in season 2000/2001, the CaleyThistleOnline.com Player of the Year trophy is awarded at the end of each season to the player that supporters have voted to be the most consistent over a whole season.
After every League and Cup game of the season, supporters who were at the game can vote on who performed best in that match. The voting traditionally took place on the Player of the Year forum on the old SportNetwork site but since the redesign, we now run a weekly poll which is open for 7 days from the final whistle of any game. This allows website users to vote for the players they think were the top 3 performers in that match. The top player is awarded 5 'match points', the 2nd gets 3 'match points' and the third gets 1 'match point'. When the voting is closed, we tally up both the quantity of votes (regardless of whether they are 5, 3 , or 1 point votes) and also the number of points awarded.
The quantity of votes a player receives in any match is counted up and the player with the highest quantity of votes at the end of each month is deemed to be the CaleyThistleOnline Player of the Month. This allows consistent performers who may get loads of 1 or 3 point votes but not too many 5 pointers to be in with a shout at being Player of the Month.

Player of the year points are counted up over the season and the player with the highest POY points total receives the CaleyThistleOnline Player of The Year trophy at an end of season awards ceremony.
WELL DONE to Craig, who joins those who have previously won the trophy.
No player has been able to win it for two seasons in a row, so here's hoping that not only Craig but all of our top challengers from this season and maybe a few others will be around to try and win it next year ....
