    Rooney signs 3 year deal

      Teaser Paragraph:

ROONEY02med.jpgAdam Rooney has become a CaleyJag not on loan but for three years in a move that has surprised a lot of people.

Rooney accompanied the first team squad on the pre-season tour of Denmark and manager Craig Brewster made no secret of the fact that he wanted to bring him in on loan, the player also seemed keen so it was a bit of a blow that things seemed to be dragging on as ICT and Stoke appeared to be at odds over the length of the loan and how much ICT would pay.

However, fair play to ICT and manager Craig Brewster, the delay seems to have been more to do with the fact that Caley Thistle have now signed the player outright for a reputed fee of around £50 000

According to the official ICT website, Craig Brewster had this to say "I am delighted to have finally secured Adam after a patient wait to get the deal done. He looked impressive for us during the Denmark pre-season trip and I am confident he will do well over the duration of his three year deal."

The player himself was equally enthusiastic "I am really pleased to be here after enjoying my time with the squad in Denmark. I am desperate to prove myself at SPL level and can't wait to get playing."

Rooney (20) signed for Stoke City in the summer of 2005, after having trials at Bolton, West Ham United, Nottingham Forest and Reading. In his first season at Stoke, Rooney made his debut at academy and reserves levels, before making his first team debut as a second-half substitute against Tamworth in the FA Cup. Rooney scored his first goal for Stoke against Reading on April 17, 2006 and in only his second full start for Stoke scored a hat-trick against already relegated Brighton in the final fixture of the 2005-06 season to become Stoke City's youngest ever hat-trick scorer.

Adam made 15 appearances for Stoke, scoring 4 times. During his two years there he was also loaned out to other teams for experience and played for Yeovil, Chesterfield and Bury. He has also played twice for the Ireland U21 team.
