After a Pitch Inspection, tonight's ICT -V- Dundee United match scheduled for a 7:45PM kick-off has been called off.
The club called for a pitch inspection earlier in the day and it was set to happen at 4:30PM.
The rain had dried up somewhat by then but not early enough for the pitch to be playable in the match referee's opinion.
Later in the afternoon, ICT issued a press statement regarding the postponement ...
ICTFC phoned the SPL at 1pm to request an inspection as the pitch was water-logged with water lying on the surface. We wanted an early inspection to avoid any unnecessary travel by Dundee United, their fans and of course our own fans.
Unfortunately the SPL told us that an early inspection was not possible because there was no Grade 1 Referee in the Highlands and we would have to wait until circa 4.30pm as the Match Referee was on his way from Glasgow. The Referee arrived at 4.45pm and carried out a thorough and extensive inspection. He called the game off at 5.20pm.
Caley Thistle would like to take this opportunity to apologise to Dundee United and all home and away fans for this late call-off but it is hoped that with the above information, all parties will fully appreciate that we made every effort to get an early inspection but matters were outwith our control.”
Weather permitting, ICT will face Morton at home in the 5th Round of the Scottish Cup on Saturday.
