    ICT capture Welsh International

      Teaser Paragraph:

ICT Press ReleaseWelsh cap is Terry Butcher's new midfield capture from Norwich City -- and Austrian is cleared to play

Caley Thistle have agreed a one year contract with Welsh international midfielder Owain Tudur Jones with Norwich City manager Paul Lambert agreeing to cancel his registration.

The international transfer clearance paperwork on the transfer will hopefully be concluded in time for Jones to be included in the squad against Hibernian in our SPL first home game of the season on Saturday.

Norwich paid Swansea £250,000 for Jones in June 2009 and the six feet two inch tall player has made six appearances for Wales, having previously played for his country at under-21 and under-19 level.

Terry Butcher is delighted to land the 27 year old, who brings physical presence to the midfield area.

Bangor City signed Jones from Porthmadog ten years ago and he went on to fire 24 goals in 96 appearances for Bangor, with whom he tasted Intertoto Cup action against a Rumanian side.

Swansea signed him in the summer of 2005 and he racked up 21 league appearances and scored three goals in his first season.

Having spent the second half of the 08-09 season at Swindon Town, Jones' form attracted Norwich who forked out the £250,000 fee. Owain scored against Brentford in August but that was to be his only goal in five appearances for the Canaries.

In January, 2010, he spent three months on loan at Yeovil Town and in January of this year he was at Brentford for a month's loan.

Jones made his full international debut for Wales against Luxembourg in March, 2008, in a 2-0 win and he becomes the first Welsh cap to play for Caley Thistle.

Manager Butcher is also relieved that the drawn-out saga over the registration of Thomas Piermayr is over with international clearance being received so the former Austrian under-21 player, who can play right or left back and also in midfield, will be eligible to make his debut against Hibs.

Piermayr, who played for Linz last season, has impressed the manager in training and is looking forward to facing Hibs and trying to extend the Caley Jags' hoodoo over the Easter Road men at Inverness. In nine SPL games at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium, Caley Jags have dumped the Hibees seven times, with two drawn.

Ironically, this is Caley Thistle's first home game since Hibs' last visit on May 11, when Richie Foran scored just before the interval and Nick Ross added another in our 2-0 victory.

That Inverness lineup was Tuffey; Tokely Munro Hogg Gillet; Duff Ross Cox Foran; Sutherland Rooney. Subs were Esson, Doran, Polworth, Morrison, Odhiambo, Sanchez and Alex Macdonald. Quite a transformation between home games!
