At least there wasn’t any Monday night football!! Aberdeen kept up the pressure on 2nd place with a well deserved 2-0 over St Mirren. Darren Mackie got a much needed 2 goals for his club keeping up the form of Aberdeen and pushing St Mirren further down near the bottom of the table. Celtic eventually stopped any chance of Caley going Ballistic at Celtic Park. A Dods own goal, Hesselink and Jarosik gave Celtic a 3-0 victory after a closely fought first half. Had Inverness CT gone in front in the 1st minute when they created a great chance, it would have been a different story. Inverness CT are yet to beat Celtic in the SPL, but I am sure it will happen eventually. Dunfermline look set for a bright future as their new manager Kenny watched this game from the stands. Craig Levein lost his first game as Dundee Utd manager as they lost 2-1. Robson opened the scoring for Utd but Shields and Mason gave the Pars the much needed 3pts to take them level with Motherwell. Kilmarnock came from behind as well to beat Falkirk 2-1. Again the away side took the lead through, yes you guessed it, Anthony Stokes. Hay and an O’Donnell own goal gifted Killie the win. Colin Nish was sent off for Kilmarnock after 88 mins. The result of the day however came from Fir Park where Motherwell were completely brushed aside by a fast flowing Hibernian side. John Collins already seems to be continuing the good work of Tony Mowbray, especially after this 6-1 victory. Goals from Brown, Killen, Sproule 2, Jones and Shiels secured the trouncing even though Maguire scored a consolation for the Well. Malpas must be wondering how long he can survive especially after losing by such a considerable score line. He will have to lift the players before next weeks home match against Falkirk or could end up bottom on their own. On the other hand, this isn’t a better time for Hibs to entertain Celtic next week. Well done John Collins after a terrific start as manager!! On Sunday, there was a pulsating match at Tynecastle between Hearts and Rangers. There was only one goal however, and it came from Nacho Novo for Rangers with 12 mins to go. A total of 7 players were booked but none were sent off. 5 were for Rangers with only 2 for Hearts. So after 15 games, Celtic lead by 15pts and Dunfermline and Motherwell are bottom by 2pts. Steven Pressley (Hearts): The (possibly ex) Hearts captain is a rock solid Scotland internationalist who is one of the main reasons behind Hearts success in the last few years. Although after he spoke out about the turmoil, he has been dropped for the last 2 games with apparently his armband stripped from him.
