    Hibernian v ICT - Preview

      Teaser Paragraph:
hibs_h.pngFinally Inverness CT got their first win of the season against Arbroath on Tuesday. However, they have still to get off the mark in the league. Craig Brewster's first spell at the club started away to Hibs and his first league game on his return to the club is the exact same. Inverness CT have a surprisingly good record against Hibs winning 5 out of the last 7 meetings.

Will Craig Brewster play himself; surely a place on the bench would be the best option. Will Dean McDonald get a chance? Grant Munro and Richard Hastings are both likely to miss the match meaning the defence picks itself with McBain at left back again. Will there be any new signings making their debut for the club?? Maybe tomorrow's game would come too soon for any signings but hopefully we have 1 or 2 before midnight on Friday. Rumours have it 36 year old Lee Bullen is on his way!

    A GAME TO REMEMBER

For this weeks game to remember we take you back to one of the biggest wins in this fixture. It took place at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium in the SPL on the 02/03/2005. This was Inverness’ only second game in Inverness in the SPL after ground sharing with Aberdeen for the first half of the season. Inverness out played Hibs for the whole game and deserved their 3-0 victory. Goals came from Juanjo, Brewster and Wilson. The attendance was 4443.

    The teams were as follows:

    INVERNESS CT
: Brown, Tokely, Munro, Dods, Golabek, Wilson, Hart, Duncan, McBain, Brewster, Juanjo.

Subs- Proctor (for Hart), Bayne (for Brewster), Fatai (for Juanjo), Fraser, McCaffrey, Hastings, Prunty.

HIBERNIAN: Simon Brown, Whittaker, Caldwell, Smith, Murphy, Orman, Antonio Murray, Ian Murray, Scott Brown, O’Connor, Riordan.

Subs- Shiels (for Orman), McDonald (for A.Murray), Sproule (for I.Murray), Brown, McCluskey, Morrow, Konte.

The referee was John Underhill and there were three bookings on the day all for Hibernian: Antonio Murray, Murphy and Ian Murray. Seven of the Inverness players who started the match still play for the club (including Brewster who has returned).

    FACTS BETWEEN THE TEAMS

    • All League meetings between the teams have taken place in the SPL. There have been no cup ties between the teams.
    • Inverness have won five out of the last seven meetings. In the five wins, Hibernian have only scored once.
    • Barry Wilson is the top scorer in this fixture with 5 goals.
    • In Craig Brewster’s first spell at the club, his opening game was away to Hibernian. Now in his second spell in managing the club, his first league game is at the same place. The last time we lost 2-1, lets hope for a reverse this Saturday.
    • In the last meeting between the clubs, Inverness CT won 3-0 at home on 21st January 2007. Two fantastic goals from Roy McBain and Barry Wilson and a Craig Dargo goal ensured a result which was not expected.
    • Inverness CT are probably Hibernian’s bogey team!!
    • Hibernian currently unbeaten this season.
    • Inverness CT have no points in their opening 4 games, and now face Hibernian (A), Celtic (A) and Hearts (H). Easy or what!!

    TOP SCORERS

    5 goals: Barry Wilson (ICT)

    3 goals: Derek Riordan (Hibs)

2 goals: Juanjo (ICT), Fletcher (Hibs), Dargo (ICT)

1 goal: Brewster (ICT), Proctor (ICT), Wyness (ICT), Dods (ICT),

Beuzilin (Hibs), Killen (Hibs), McBain (ICT)

    PLAYERS TO WATCH

Steven Watt (Inverness CT): The Swansea City defender joined the club on a season long loan deal last week. He made his debut on Tuesday night in the 3-1 CIS Cup victory over Arbroath due to an injury to club captain Grant Munro. From reports he appeared to have an ok game, obviously short of match fitness but that will come. A needed addition to add competition for places in the defence. Looks likely he will have to play this Saturday as well due to Munro still being injured

Marius Niculae (Inverness CT): The Romanian striker finally got off the mark against Arbroath on Tuesday. After going three games without a goal he scored 2 goals to open his tally for the Highland club. Hopefully this will trigger more in the coming weeks. He is starting to get his match fitness back and looking like a skilful player.

Dean McDonald (Inverness CT): Come on Brewster, give the guy a chance!!!

    INJURIES

Grant Munro (back strain), Richard Hastings (muscle strain) and Markus Paatelainen all miss the game on Saturday.

    FUTURE FIXTURES

Saturday 8th December 2007 @ Tulloch Caledonian Stadium

    Saturday 23rd February 2008 @ Easter Road
