ICT v Dundee Utd - Preview

      Teaser Paragraph:
dundeeutd_h.pngInverness CT after having 20 days of no football before last Saturday now enter an important stage of the season where they have 4 games in 11 days. This is where Brewster may use squad rotation and give players like Barry Wilson and Graham Bayne who haven't featured a lot recently, a game.

Dundee Utd are one of Brewster's former clubs and it is important that Inverness make home advantage count on Saturday. With David Proctor injured, Phil McGuire will more than likely step in. Whether Brewster decided to make anymore changes, we will found out just before kick off.

    A GAME TO REMEMBER

For this weeks game to remember we take you back to

    Inverness CT
’s first ever victory over Dundee Utd. In their previous 7 attempts Inverness had failed to beat the Terrors but the midweek CIS Cup match gave them another chance to break the duck. Only 2 minutes had gone when Liam Fox put Inverness CT into an early lead. And with 4 minutes left of the first half, Barry Wilson capitalised on a keeper error to slam the ball home making it 2-0 and very difficult for United to come back. If I remember correctly Barry Robson hit the woodwork 3 times during the match!! The 2nd half didn’t bring any goals giving Caley Thistle their first victory over Dundee United in history.
    Inverness CT
eventually lost in the next round away to Livingston . The attendance was 1919.

    The teams were as follows:

    INVERNESS CT
: Brown, Duncan, Dods, Munro, Morgan, Proctor, Hart, Fox, Wilson, Wyness, McAllister.

Subs- Black (for McAllister), Fraser, Parratt, Finnigan, Brewster.

DUNDEE UTD: Stillie, McCracken, Ritchie, Archibald, Wilson , Canero, Brebner, Duff, Robson, Miller, Fernandez.

Subs- Samuel (for Duff), McIntyre (for Miller), McInnes (for Canero), Kenneth, McLean.

The referee was John Underhill and there was only 1 booking on the day: Miller of Dundee Utd. Seven of the Inverness players who started the match still play for the club!

    FACTS BETWEEN THE TEAMS

    • All League meetings between the teams have taken place in the SPL.
    • Inverness CT have only lost two of the last 12 meetings in this fixture, the latest being a 3-0 loss at home in August 2008.
    • Dundee Utd never lost any of the first 7 meetings between the teams.
    • The biggest win was by 3 goals, earlier this season by Dundee Utd.
    • The teams have both scored 20 goals against each other.
    • After this game, Craig Brewster will have managed Inverness CT through 2 rounds of SPL fixtures since his arrival. His league record is P21 W11 D2 L8. Not bad just over 50% are victories.
    • The fixture produces an average of 2.2 goals per game.

    TEAM NEWS

Inverness CT: The highlanders will go into this game without one player, David Proctor. Whenever Proctor gets a chance, he is always unlucky as he ends up getting sent off or injured. Now, after covering for McGuire and looking good, he is now injured and Phil McGuire is over his 3 match suspension and ready to return. That may be the only change from the team that drew 1-1 away to St Mirren last weekend. Inverness scored their 1000th competitive goal last weekend, and it was fitting that captain Munro got it.

Dundee Utd: The captain of Utd Lee Wilkie is a doubt for Saturday’s match, due to a hamstring problem. Loan signing Jim O’Brien who was a loan target for Craig Brewster may feature.
