Inverness CT -V- Morton - Preview

      Teaser Paragraph:

Morton have been dragged back into the dogfight for the relegation play off spot as Ayr United continue their mini revival.

With Inverness producing a stirring performance to overcome a stubborn Queen of the South in midweek, well Adam Rooney did, and Morton sliding downwards as form team Ayr scramble upwards, this could prove to be a difficult task for the home side. Morton know how dangerous the Inverness forward line can be, having lost seven goals already this season in the league, with only one goal hitting the Inverness net. Complacency however, is not something that Terry Butcher will encourage. He has been lavish in his praise of top scorer Adam Rooney but has also acknowledged the "real determination" shown by the rest of the team.

The weather has made last month look like a footballers winter holiday with neither team fulfilling their scheduled fixtures. This makes it difficult to compare the recent form, but as far as the Teuchters are concerned, (thats us) we are on an unbeaten league run that stretches for ten games, with five wins and five draws. Mortons last four games span six weeks, but despite beating Raith and Queens, they succumbed to Pars and close rivals Ayr United. Squads for this weekend Inverness chief Terence Butcher has lost the services of the workhorse that is Richie Foran. The fiery Irishman has been relieved of his duties by the SFL judiciary system. He is serving a two match ban which means he will also sit out the derby match next weekend. Other than that, Butcher has an almost full squad to choose from, with long term absentee Jamie Duff in recuperation after surgery. What does this mean I hear you say. It probably means that the team that played against Queens will play against the Ton with the exception of Foran, who will likely be replaced by the little dictator, Dani Sanchez. The other talking point will surely be whether Nauris Bulvitis comes back in at centre back or will Tokely be restored to his more natural right back berth thus relegating David Proctor to the bench. With Proc looking either rusty or nervous in midweek, my bet is for this line up.

Esson Tokely Bulvitis Munro Golabek Duncan Cox Hayes Sanchez Odhiambo Rooney
Morton charge hands have also to make do without an important player. Captain Stuart Greacen was sent off last week and misses this game. David McGregor looks the likeliest replacement. With information regarding the teams restricted to MI5 and Interpol this is the best I can muster, Mortons last line up was Morton: Stewart, McGuffie, Reid (Graham 73), Shimmin, Greacen, Tidser, Jenkins (Finlayson 64), Masterton, Weatherson (MacGregor 85), Simmons, McAlister. Subs Not Used: Cuthbert, Paartalu. tm4tj prediction I am certainly on a roll, (spelled it correctly this week) two out of two, and I'm tempted to go for the hat-trick now. Richie Foran will be missed but so will Morton's captain Greacen. I have the feeling that ICT will cope better than Morton will and another comfortable win should be on the cards. I don't doubt that the fans will be put through the wringer once more, but if you are an ICT fan you come to expect that, nothing is done the easy way.
