  1. good grief. Some of the negativity of posters on this forum beggars belief at times. Yes the last couple of months has not been great. But we are holding our own punching well above our weight in the Premier League. Those of us who remember standing at kingsmills or telford st with a few hundred others wondering if the 'scottish' league would ever deign to let the Highlands in really can see Ict are living the dream.Lets all pull together and get behind the team. Rant over.

  2. Can't comment on Munro's red card but had the perfect view of McArdle's challenge on Shinnie. I thought Butcher was going to nut McArdle himself, such was the tantrum he threw. It was a shocker of a tackle, studs up, foot off the ground, well late - a red card every day of the week. We've had some abysmal referees up here recently, but Steve Rentboy - sorry, Conroy - took the biscuit. I thought the players put in a good shift, and worked hard, even if some had better performances than others. Duff particularly stood out for me, he ran himself into the ground. I thought Rossco did a solid job back in the centre...though I continue to see Innes (with a turning circle the size of a bus) as a liability. Sometimes it's just not your night. Tonight wasn't ours, though it rarely is when it is 10 versus 12.

  3. Further to my earlier post, and picking up what Mike has said, I am not advocating cheating. To me, Sutherland was definately fouled and had he gone doww, would the referee have been more likley to give a penalty?. Given the ref's performance on Saturday, it's doubtful but to me it was a penalty whether Sutherland stayed on his feet or not. Put this another way, if the Hamilton player had stayed on his feet, which I think he could have, would a penalty have been given?. The guy knew he had no chance of getting to the ball and went down from the slightest of touches, to me, definately not a penalty. I still stand by what I said about being bullied by the likes of hamilton and the guys who sit beside me all agreed. We let them dictate what happened in the match, they tested the referee to see what he would give/let them away with and played on that all afternoon. Add on blatant timewasting, which they have done everytime they have come up here and I really hate the way Hamilton go about their business and would shed no tears if they were relegated. As I have said, not advocating cheating but, and I have said this since we were first in the first division, sometimes we are boys against men and we really have to wise up and become more streetwise. The only guys thta come close to doing this at the moment are Innes, and I don't rate him as a player, and Foran, both who have been around a few teams.

  4. Rooney had his best game for ages, and was unlucky not to score. Munro off??? Ask the linesman or that cheating little shiiiit Maguire. Don't be too harsh on the team if you were not at the game, as we gave Aberdeen a game with only ten men. Not disheartened, but certainly disappointed.

  5. Strangely we had enough chances to probably win the game, although Aberdeen also passed up a few on the break. Tokely proved (again) that he is our best centre half. You can see that Innes knows the job inside out, however he is too slow, lacks agility and when encountered with the ball seems to have a nose bleed and kick the ball away in a panic. Whilst I appreciate that replacements are not readily obvious, exactly how bad does Foran have to play until he is subbed or dropped? It seems to have been a good few months since he even looked like the player we know he is. Don't know whether Grant deserved a red card or not. Two straight red tackles, blatent diving and a deliverable hand ball all not dealt with properly by the ref.

  6. Interesting but cant help feeling that its experience we need now.

  7. It's ironic that Sky get all uppity about outdated, sexist attitudes when 5 of the 9 Sky Sports News presenters are young, pretty, blonde females. The most qualified applicants for the job, were they? Not that I'm complaining.

  8. Despite what the gloom merchants will say, we played well and for me, at the risk of sounding like Neil Lennon, the ref has ruined the game. Didn't see the Munro incident but mccardle should have walked and Blackman could also have gone. With 11 men it would have been very different. Keep the faith

  9. If it were a boxing match, I fear the ref would have stopped the contest in past 10 rounds!! Still think Terry will keep us safe this season, Just grateful for the great start to the season.

  10. One the one hand, the incident that started it all seems to be (crass) humour and banter between long-time friends/colleagues which was never intended to be broadcast. I am sure we all make "non-PC" comments to our mates at times which we would not necessarily repeat within other company or at work. In a male dominated sport, it may not be accurate, but it has long been a joke about women and the offside rule, so much so that women joke about it too. The one thing that stands out for me is that no-one seems to have indicated whether the female official was actually offended .... it appears to be yet another case of someone getting offended on behalf of someone else (at least initially) !!! On the other hand, the incident that caused the suspension, and the subsequent stories about previous comments made by AG show a pattern of behaviour that while maybe not misogyny do portray him as a bit of a chauvinistic dinosaur and also a touch inappropriate and sexist in terms of his behaviour and innuendo towards a female colleague. Perhaps he did need some form of punishment as well as 'sensitivity training' or whatever it is called these days ... or maybe the female presenter was also "one of the lads" joining in with office banter in the same way that Helen Chamberlain always did on Soccer AM ... we simply dont know, and again it seems to be someone else getting offended on her behalf ... it also seems strange that this was rolled out months later to justify or add credence to the sacking. I cant help going back to the earlier post in the thread dealing with the phone tapping story. I had not heard of it before this (not news this side of the pond) but reading about it, seems very interesting timing so I can see something in this, especially as the sacking was said to have been overseen by the top man at SKY Sports and not just some random executive or manager !!! I feel that Gray (and Keys) made inappropriate remarks and maybe deserved some sanctions of some kind, but sacking him after nearly 20 years may have been too harsh a punishment. I do not agree with his opinion, but as pointed out, there are talk shows in the UK (loose women) and over this side of the pond (The View) with panels full of misandrists, who are just as bad towards males !!! And finally .... on the actual subject of female officials ... I say, bring em on !!! The Canadian Championships for the last couple of years have had female officials involved in them not just as assistant referees but also as the referee. Toronto FC have had the same female ref in 3 of their games against Vancouver/Montreal. She was excellent and put many of her male MLS counterparts to shame. I cannot think of any controversy in any of those games yet most MLS games have at least one or two talking points because the refs are so dodgy. If the ref is competent, gender should not be a factor.

  11. We should play him up front with Richie. Doran and Foran.

  12. The guy's a plonker as well as a rubbish commentator, so excellent news he's gone. Don't shed any tears for him, he's been earning a seven figure salary for years. If you earn that kind of money a degree of professionalism is required, which Gray has clearly not got. His views might be his own, but they are completely out of touch with football and the world we live in now. So bye bye, take Keys with you. And if you wonder why this new footage came out now, just think of all the people who work on the shows who have had to put up with his unreconstructed behaviour, lording it over them for years, now they have their revenge. Don't make enemies on the way up, you might need them as friends on the way down. Uh-oh, too late Andy.

  13. If TB sees him as a player that is ready to go into the first team - and if he is a genuine winger - it will be interesting to see how this might affect the starting eleven. Might he consider moving Foran back into a striking role alongside Rooney and playing two of Duncan/Cox/Duff in the centre, with one slightly ahead of the other and Doran and Hayes on either side? Could lead to a more of the end product that has been lacking recently, as discussed on other threads.

  19. According to Butch, there has been no more offers or contact re Adam. Fair enough, it means he is a free man come June or he can sign the line with us, i would like to thinkl once its clear that he's going no where soon he will get his head down and concentrate on football.

  20. Get Tana Umanga and Jonah Lomu signed up now.

  21. Charlie Adam should be a lesson to regular visitors of the dump. He played in his shell in Scotland because of constant abuse from Rangers and St Midden fans, as well as opposition fans. He wasn't allowed the mental space on, or off the park to express himself properly. He always has had 100% technique, and just needed the belief/support of the supporters. He moved to Blackpool with no pressure, and now they have an outstanding play maker. I wouldn't say he's that much fitter, and he still moves at the same pace, he just believes in himself now. Maybe the next time Duff gets caught in possession, we could leave the huge collective sigh out, and just offer encouragement instead?

  22. A total fuss over absolutely nothing I like the thought of women referees and lineswomen I'd kit them out differently than the blokes though in something like this; http://www.yandy.com/Shopping/products/prod_637.asp dougal

  23. I don't see why they should be suspended. They were having what they believed was, and should have been, a private conversation and it should have been nobody else's business. I would say it was a far bigger crime to record someone without them knowing, and even worse to then place that recording in the public domain where they knew it would cause offence. There's not a person alive who doesn't hold a thought, view, opinion or who has made a comment in jest which someone else may find offensive. Should people be allowed to record us at will and place those views in public without our consent? Not justifying sexist opinions or views, but are these guys really sexist or were they just having a joke based around a "stereotype"...you know, in much the same way as we've all had a laugh at a Scotsman, Englishman & Irishman joke which played heavily on stereotype? We don't know and, given the circumstances, I think it would be dangerous to judge.

  24. To the loyal fans who go to near enough every game, home or away, or who've been buying season tickets for the last 5 years or more and have spent ridiculous amounts of money on supporting the club through thick and thin. The real fans.

  25. Completely agree with Renegade, persistently starting 4-5-1 at home is absolutely dire and doing nothing for us. Especially when the lone striker is playing with his head up his @rse at the moment. Simply has to be ditched, especially with Hayes back providing the service, and Sanchez proving he's more than capable of hitting the back of the net given a chance. I'd go: Esson Duff Tokely Munro Shinnie Duncan Hayes - - - - - Ross Foran Sanchez Rooney Subs: Tuffey, Proctor, Innes, McBain, Cox, Odhiambo, Sutherland Interesting to see a few calling for Foran to be dropped.. Lazy donut factor coming into play here maybe? Yet he has shown he's capable of scoring a few goals for us, and is the captain after all (not that I see that as a reason not to drop somebody). When he came on at HT against St J's he made a HUGE difference for us and was arguably our best outfield player on the park. He seems ineffective as a winger as he doesn't track back an awful lot, and the constant berating of Shinnie in every game can't be doing the young lad any favours. So I would have him in an attacking midfield role. This way he doesnt have to do much running to support the defence, and could still do the business for us in attack. Duncan coming back in to shore up the midfield is a no-brainer, and in the 10-15 mins he did get yesterday Hayes showed us the little spark we've missed from him in attack.. Great to have ya back wee man. Odhiambo being the obvious choice to make way.

  26. Since when is no wins in 10 and a **** poor, season long home record "punching well above our weight"? Thank feck we managed to scrape together an abnormal away run in the league up until recently, or we would have been right up sh1t creek!

  30. What I cant fathom is where's the cruelty and neglect. A sleeping child in a car. Is it any different to a sleeping child in another room in the house. I've left a child in the car in the past whilst nipping into a shop. I would think it more cruel to waken it up and drag it around the supermarket.

  31. Bronson, This is unfair and another reason why the team perhaps do not like playing at home. In away games there is 110% support. At home, elements of the home crowd are negative, silent, destructively critical, and forever pulling players down. Richie Foran is an inspirational leader who gives his all within the energy he has. No player, not even Rossco is superman.

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.

It's Now or Never: That's what Elvis used to say. We are in deep trouble up to our necks with no signs that we can turn this around. Defeat to Arbroath could be the final nail in our coffin with only fifteen points available to us ahead of this game. The play-offs are looking more likely by the minute, but it's not beyond the realms of possibilty that automatic relegation is still an option should Arbroath beat us on Saturday. With the long suffering fans rapidly losing faith in Big Dunc, it's crunch time as Arbroath head North to the venue they won at the last time they were here. Sadly they come to the Caledonian Stadium off the back of a 2-1 midweek defeat to Airdrie, and we could all but relegate them on Saturday with a win. However, that's nothing to gloat about as we could be next...

    • Partick 1-0 Inverness CT - Report
Big Trouble Down the Dump: Billy Mckay was back in the starting XI along with Samson Lawal with Pepple dropping to the bench and Shaw out for the season. Both teams had seven on the bench with Roddy MacGregor getting a rare seat. Scott Robinson scored the only goal of the game just before the break. Inverness were reduced to ten men when Cammy Kerr was sent off just after an hour. Despite creating more opportunities, the points just evaded us.

      Meh!
