  2. What a relief that game was. We still didn't create a great deal in terms of clear-cut chances, but the defence held its shape better and the midfielders closed down much more effectively than in recent games, and we never allowed Motherwell to get a grip of the game at any point. The original penalty decision looked a clear-cut handball, and fair play to Craig Thomson for ordering the retake for encroachment, which most teams do and expect to get away with. The Storey goal looked like it had wrongfooted Ripley horribly at the time, and apparently, according to Storey on Twitter, it was a big deflection. The Vigurs goal, however, was sublime - one of those where you could see him shaping to hit it as it fell to him, and it looked like it went in in slow motion. Vigurs didn't have a great game otherwise; Polworth, on the other hand, was superb from start to finish: fighting for everything, getting all over the park, and distributing the ball really well. He had a very good game earlier in the season against St Johnstone but since then seems to have been pretty inconsistent; hopefully him getting a run in the team has built his confidence and he might be able to establish himself as a first pick even when we have a fully fit squad. Tremarco was another player who has looked uncertain recently but who had an excellent game, and on the other side Lewis Horner looked fairly solid and didn't stop running all day. In the longer term, the most important thing about this game is that it has put more points on the board and stopped a potentially morale-sapping slump. There was nothing from today's game to suggest that we are likely to go on the sort of run that will get us back into the sort of position we were at the turn of the year last season; at the same time, I'm less worried than I was that we might end up getting cut adrift, with, say, United and maybe Partick. Yay for mediocrity.

  3. Great summary Maryhill, especially yer final paragraph. It was an important win for various reasons as you rightly pointed out, but we are still well short of resting on our laurels.

  7. you've got to take your hats off to the guys: Despite continuing to be dealt a shabby hand, they can still pull out a result like that! Rollercoaster of a season.

  8. Hope the injuries to Christie and Storey aren't bad ones. We've had more than our fair share of bad luck this season without adding two more of our best players to the injury list.

  9. Really good result by the sound of things...Well done ICT Just hope the injuries to Christie, Lopez and Storey aren't serious, besides we will be really struggling to get a bench next time out.

  12. What a week for integrity? Oldco Rangers confirmed as involved in massive multi million pound tax evasion. Rangers newco to retain various titles obtained by Oldco Rangers during the dark years (subject to possible appeal in the tax case but if not, SFA revisiting its rules to check if massive tax evasion is a reason to take a sporting integrity decision). Yogi disciplined for being honest.

  14. To be fair to the players, I notice some fans asking them on Twitter when they are due back and normally are very responsive with it - latest being Jordan Roberts who hopes to be back soon. I think it's unfair to blame the club for 'lack of information' when maybe the players themselves want to keep things under wraps. Yes football is an 'entertainment' however the players are also people like you and I. They will be ready when they're ready etc.

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.

It's Now or Never: That's what Elvis used to say. We are in deep trouble up to our necks with no signs that we can turn this around. Defeat to Arbroath could be the final nail in our coffin with only fifteen points available to us ahead of this game. The play-offs are looking more likely by the minute, but it's not beyond the realms of possibilty that automatic relegation is still an option should Arbroath beat us on Saturday. With the long suffering fans rapidly losing faith in Big Dunc, it's crunch time as Arbroath head North to the venue they won at the last time they were here. Sadly they come to the Caledonian Stadium off the back of a 2-1 midweek defeat to Airdrie, and we could all but relegate them on Saturday with a win. However, that's nothing to gloat about as we could be next...

    • Partick 1-0 Inverness CT - Report
Big Trouble Down the Dump: Billy Mckay was back in the starting XI along with Samson Lawal with Pepple dropping to the bench and Shaw out for the season. Both teams had seven on the bench with Roddy MacGregor getting a rare seat. Scott Robinson scored the only goal of the game just before the break. Inverness were reduced to ten men when Cammy Kerr was sent off just after an hour. Despite creating more opportunities, the points just evaded us.

      Meh!
