  1. The result wasn't declared null and void, it still stands and will show on the record books as a Dundee Utd victory so no we will not have played one game less, they were deducted three points due to their error - it just so happens that it is the same number of points as gained from the win. Hundreds of thousands of pounds? Hardly, if we finish 8th rather than 7th it's a difference of £52750.00, the attached explains the values to each position and how it is distributed (I checked various sites but this one explains it the best) - http://stv.tv/sport/football/1331865-spfl-sides-to-share-record-21m-prize-money-payout-in-201516-season/ Also on the back of the above if we do finish 8th rather than 7th it'll be our own fault and not that of a decision made by the SPFL for an error by an opponent. A season is played over 38 games and not just 1 game. I think it's about time as well that we ditch the 'It's that lot up there, f'''''' them' attitude as it benefits nobody and to bemone that belief only keeps it going and fuels it more, we should be concentrating on ourselves and what we are doing rather than anyone else.

  2. Really poor end of season affair lightened up by MacKinnon being a colossal ned and scrapping with his coaching staff as he was bundled off the pitch and one of the ICT fans charging across the stand to celebrate the Williams 'goal' before realising it had been chalked off For some reason, after turning in a wonderful performance against Partick, we seem to have returned to our timid, non threatening, slow passing game. Whereas Draper and others had been snapping at the heels of Partick players winning the ball and providing great support further forward for the likes of Storey we seemed significantly less inclined to attack with anyone other than Storey, Williams and Polworth. Draper and Tansey were lined up exceptionally deep with Meekings and Tremarco seldom supporting on the flanks. It was like we had put the brakes on for this one despite 7th place and some potentially important prize money up for grabs. The best move of the game for us came when Storey scampered free on the left flank and crossed for Williams who finished well but had apparently just drifted offside. Hard to tell from where we were. A quick free kick from Vigurs released Devine and he tackled the ball into the net. Decent finish for a defender. Hamilton had largely been restricted to shots from range with a couple looking like they flew pretty close to OFW goal. Second half was sadly a very timid affair from us in attacking sense best exemplified when Williams had the ball on the right flank and the ICT players alongside him stood completely still. There was little movement off the ball to create space for either a pass or for the player who had the ball. We seemed happy to knock the ball around and protect the one goal lead. Draper (I think) did find Polworth with a superb through ball but he shot right at McGovern. MacKinnon, perhaps the biggest ned in Scottish football, was sent off for clashing with Vigurs. Looked like he threw an elbow in the direction of Vigurs after a challenge which strangely brought only a yellow card before he then mouthed off at the red and was shown a second yellow. As he went off he clashed with the Accies coaching staff and was restrained before appearing to launch himself at however was holding him back. Bizarre. For most of the latter part of the second half we were defending deeper and deeper as we clung on to the lead. Hamiltons best chance came when a clever and quick free kick nearly caught us out but somehow the final shot from an Accies player, from about 3 yards out, was ballooned into the retail park. Not going to complain too much about a win but having seen what the team can do when it is set up correctly it seems bizarre to put the brakes on and reign the side back.

  4. How entertaining our football is appears to have little bearing on our attendances. We played some wonderful stuff last year, the most attractive and entertaining style we've ever had, and yet our attendances this year haven't improved and may have dropped.

  5. Lot's of what if's which become irrelevant if we beat dundee on Saturday...I do hope ICTFC officials have reserved clubs position though. Some our SPFL counterparts have made mountains out of much smaller molehills.

  6. Sheer speculation! From the moment Coote came on, nothing that did happen in his 16 minutes on the pitch would have happened had an eligible player been there instead. Coote didn't need to score to change the game, he just needed to position himself half a yard from where the alternative player would have been and it might cause an ICT or DU player to have played a different pass and from that moment, everything is different. That's why in football these days, the result never stands. Today's ruling is outrageous! It doesn't matter that we might feel we didn't play well or deserve to win, but we all know that football matches can turn on the slightest thing. We are the wronged party here, and the punishment dished out today does nothing to rectify that and give us the chance to play against a fully eligible team. At the very least we should be entitled to replay the game, and if there is no time for the fixture to be replayed, a win should have been awarded to us.

  7. What happened to all those flags that were waved at our Cup final or the party in the park the following day? Will any be on show for the last game of the season, the only ones I've seen were either side of Dave the Raves banner. Go on bring them along.

  8. Hi folks, Sorry if this isn't the correct place to start this thread, please move it if so. There is a growing feeling in Scotland that the OBFA has failed and is criminalising chiefly working class football fans. Campaigns are being put together up and down the country and some of us believe it is time that we have a campaign against it up here in the Highlands. If anyone is interested in taking part in this campaign please get in contact with me - conor.cheyne@outlook.com

  9. Of course they could have replayed it. Had the match been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch then nobody could seriously suggest that even the SPFL would end the season without some teams having completed their fixtures.

  11. A few seasons back a Celtic fan when walking past said f**k the queen. If he had said that to a Rangers fan a big slagging match would have kicked off. I think the problems have been introduced to football by a bunch of numpties who bring their bigotry to the match. Apart from a minority of the old firm I would say supporters of football are all mutch and such the same.

  12. I once saw a drunk bloke throw his pie but it disintegrated over spectators before it reached the pitch, like a meteor breaking up in the atmosphere but with out the flames, or the spectacular lights, or the noise, or trail that follows, OK it was kind of like a pie falling apart.

  13. It's to do with the old transfer deadline date. Any player joining a club after 1st April 2016 (appropriately enough) is unable to play for that club until the following season. The two Utd players rejoined the club at the end of the season for the clubs they were loaned to, which was after the 1st of April. It's not surprising Utd were caught out - it's not as if anyone at the club held a senior position within the SPFL when the breach occurred.

  14. Another insipid display, if a decent result. Please field an exciting side against Dundee - last home game and a chance to encourage some season ticket sales. I'd take a 3-3 draw over a drab 1-0 victory! Not sure I'd stretch to preferring a 4-3 defeat, though (hypocrite!)

  20. I don't think there will be much support here as we are a usually quiet bunch (sweetie rustlers) and don't normally shout abuse apart from this season where it is mainly been at John Hughes

  21. Even if an ineligible player stays on the bench you can't say it made no difference. Had an eligible player been on the bench instead, the circumstances of the game may have led the manager to have made different substitutions to those that were made. You have to have clear and consistent rules and then stick to them.

  23. I think that's still the case! They still have use of their section of the Bught next season, but after that they'll have to find a new ground! As you say, there doesn't appear to be any specific reason for the lease not being renewed.

  24. The above sums it up excellently, however the more time has passed and I've thought about it and seen how Raven has been out of the picture rightly or wrongly for the last few months, I do want to see more of Horner. I've been critical of him at times defensively especially when he made the 2 mistakes when we drew 2-2 with DUtd earlier in the season, but he does contribute well going forwards and gets into the box and dangerous areas. Devine while making mistakes has been overall steady, he is prone to the odd error but I do wonder if this is partly due to the changes around him, we have played Horner, Warren, Meekings, Termarco & Williams in various combinations this season and I'm not convinced that Fon Williams commands and organises the defence like Brill used to - last year Devine came in with a settled Raven, Warren, Meekings, Shinnie combo around him and I think its fair to say looked very comfortable at this level. I'm not sure of the solution going forwards as Meekings isn't the best at crossing and definitely performs much better at CB alongside Warren, but then where does Devine fit in - as above he is young and a player I think has shown enough that we should keep to try develop - perhaps having a settled configuration around him will help? Not having enough cover around the park is a concern though and if Raven is a high earner and his salary can be better used to bring in a couple of youngsters as cover or shore up the top end of the park then its a means to an end hopefully. We do have a lot of under performing players or those brought in who haven't stepped up but these were gambles and cover for injuries - with the budget next year reverting back to 'normal' levels then trimming is inevitable - its a shame as I think Raven can do a job for the next 2 years and play at this level but Horner/Meekings/Devine are at an age where they will only get better whereas sadly Raven will inevitably fade. I'll be disappointed to see him go but I do hope that Yogi appreciates what he has done at the club and gives him a game on Sat so the fans can show their thanks - its the least he deserves.

  25. There seems to be a consensus here that:- a) Josh Meekings is a better central defender than right back b) David Raven is a better right back than Josh Meekings c) Josh Meekings is a better central defender than Danny Devine d) Garry Warren looks a better player when playing alongside Meekings rather than Devine and that therefore - e) David Raven should be playing at right back and Josh Meekings should be playing in central defence. Having said that. it has rather slipped under people's radar that we have the 5th best defence in the league. We may not be able to understand the reason for current selection policy but the fact remains that our defensive record is pretty decent this year. I think some people are being a bit harsh on Danny Devine. Sure he has made some errors, but who hasn't? He has also done a lot of good work. He has started in more games than any other outfield player this year and the fact is that we would not have the defensive record we have if he was as much of a bomb scare as some would have us believe. He's an important and valuable member of our squad and it is unfortunate, to say the least, that he is being given the stick that he is in order to support the campaign to keep Dave the Rave. The fact of the matter is that we have very little defensive cover. Williams can play at left back but he is off to Dundee. A back four of Raven, Meekings, Warren and Tremarco would leave only Devine and Horner as cover. Draper and Polworth can play in defence (albeit out of position) and after that we are down to un-tested youngsters. The bottom line is that regardless of where Meekings is better or whether Raven or Devine should start, we really need both of them in the squad. The Board's recent statement indicated that the budget for next season is similar to last season's initial budget which, in turn, was significantly more than any previous manager has had to work with. Unless Hughes has something a bit special up he sleeve, then I cannot for the life of me see any reason why he isn't doing all he can to keep both these players at the club. And remember, Garry Warren is 31 and Devine only 23. Looking to the future, a central pairing of Meekings and Devine could be a very useful central partnership for years to come. The manager clearly wants to keep Devine at the club and I would certainly support that. But we need Raven too. Come on Yogi - it's a no brainer!

  26. Agree with this. Not just this league, but fitba in general. This has already become an overused phrase but...Just look at Leicester....or Man City, with all their money etc they may have a season where they win nothing, and possibly not even 'win' a champions league place. i am a supporter of ICTFC therefore I will be renewing my season ticket, and I will be hoping for but not expecting a good season. And if we get relegated then I will again renew my season ticket and once again hope for the best. This is what being a fan/supporter is all about. If we start talking like only attending if we are winning we are in danger of being like Celtic and The Rangers and Man Utd fans.....#facepalm

  28. No takers on trying to explain the apparent massive financial black hole in the SNP manifesto then? This, remember, is the same party which during the Independence campaign wowed the voters with the promise of between £6.8 and £7.9bn of oil tax revenues in 2016/17. The reality is that last year the net oil tax revenues were just £35 million and this year the forecast is that support from Government to the oil industry will exceed tax receipts. In other words, far from having the multi billion windfall from offshore oil and gas which the SNP promised, the industry is being kept alive as a result of Government subsidy. Thank goodness the people of Scotland had the sense to vote "NO", but why, oh why are people being taken in again by the SNP's fantasy economics?

  29. Does anyone know what happened to that security guy from our last home game? Was any action taken? As I heard from several sources(including other security staff) that it is not the first time he has kicked off for trivial reasons. I should note the other security staff tackled a tricky situation rather well. For anyone wondering why the security guard felt the need to give the young lad in the North Stand hassle, he took issue to the fan wearing a scarf and hood on his head whilst sitting quietly in the stand.(it was a cold day and the young team there where not causing any trouble) When he refused to remove the scarf the security guard threatened to throw the fan out, at which point I stood up and approached the security staff member pointing out it was cold and the fan was doing nothing wrong. He then threatened to throw me out of the stadium for defending the young lad, I told him to calm down and the security teams supervisor came over and calmly removed the security staff member from the location he was working and replaced him with another. I'm not one to call for people to lose jobs or anything, and I am not suggesting that, but I seriously hope he was at least given a proper talking to as I was visibly shaking with anger when he threatened throwing me out for defending a fan and asking him to use his head.

  31. While you are right to an extent re' simply criminalising all football fans, in my experience campaigning against this Act there have been instances where guys have been arrested for shouting "**** Hamilton" yet little more happened as they paid a fine on the spot. However, on many occasions young fans who cannot afford to do that havery been kept in the cells over the whole weekend with a court case looming over them for some time. It's nothing to do with the OF. This is about football fans being criminalised for something which is completely legal outside the football ground. Fans from Motherwell, Hibs, Hamilton, Partick, Hearts to name a few have all suffered from this. But even if it was simply to keep the OF fans in their place, it's still outrageous. I will take you back to Boxing Day two years ago. A 17 year old Celtic fan had his door kicked down at 4:30 in the morning with his Mum and young siblings in the house. He was taken to the Police Station and kept in their for 4 days. Why? Because he shouted "We hate ******* Rangers" at a football match 5 months previously. That young lad had to worry for a long time about his life being ruined due to this. Fortunately when the court case finally did come up, it was thrown out by the judge. So no, it's not ok to simply keep OF fans in check.

  32. I'm with your main thrust but can't quite grasp the need to make the class distinction. If a law applies to everyone, then I don't see how the "working classes" (stupid term anyway since almost everyone apart from those living on benefits works) are specifically discriminated against. My main issue with this law is that it discriminates against football. Meanwhile the likes of the Orange Order - whose raison d'etre is aggressive anti-Catholicism - strut the streets with their umbrellas and bowler hats and with total impunity. On the other hand, if this legislation is merely a means of getting the Old Firm to behave themselves, then maybe it's got something to commend it. And if the claim is that this is discrimination against the OF - well let's just look on that as a a quid pro quo for the preferential treatment they get elsewhere!

  34. Since the result has been declared null and void, we now have a situation where Inverness will finish the season having played one less fixture than everyone else. With potential swings of hundreds of thousands of pounds at stake for final positions, the SPFL thinks this disparity isn't a problem? Give me a break. There's no way such an anomaly would be so callously dismissed if it were affecting an Old Firm club challenging for the title. A case of, "It's that lot up there, f""" them."

    • Dundee United 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Hopes amongst the Caley Jags support were at rock bottom ahead of this one with the threat of relegation looming large. With all hands to the pumps, Shaw, Boyes and Ujdur were brought back into the squad whilst not really 100% fit. Shaw started as did Pepple and Boyes with Billy Mckay, Lawal and Danny Devine dropping to the bench. Cammy Harper was given the Captain's armband today. It's a daunting task going to the lions den to face title favourites but underdog is our preferred tag. Anyway, 252 of them turned up at Tannadice in eternal hope and Duffy heightened the intensity only for Louis Moult to level things up. That's how it ended, a result we would have bitten your hand off before kick off.

    • Inverness CT 1-2 Ayr United - Report
Having sat through one of the worst games for many a year there is little to hope for now apart from Arbroath to keep losing because we certainly appear to find it difficult to win. We have no game changers in our squad and our manager is playing the wrong type of anti-football to help our cause. Big Dunc thought we were the better team. Pleeeeeaaase, give me a break! We were second to everything and Ayr were always one step ahead of us after the first three minutes. SHOCKER springs to mind.

    • Inverness CT 0-0 Airdrieonians - Report
These two sides looked as though they could play for the whole of March without scoring. In terms of opportunities, the hosts probably shaded it, but when we did miss the first defender, crosses invariably went behind the incoming strikers. On the one occasion we got on the end of the ball Billy Mckay's flicked header was cleared away from goal by Kanayo Megwa.
Not the worst 0-0 draw ever, but scoring opportunities were at a premium. Neither keeper was overly troubled and this game had scoreless written all over it given the evidence of the first twenty minutes.

    • Inverness CT -V- Airdrieonians - Preview
Promoted Airdrie are sitting in fifth place in the table, just below the play-off places with former Caley Jag Nikolay Todorov getting amongst the goals and he will provide a big test for our central defence. We have found Airdrie a difficult proposition at times this season but we did win the last home encounter against them.

What a start for Inverness and Billy Mckay, who answered his abusers from last week by opening the scoring in the second minute, firing into the top corner after an assist from Cammy Harper. Robbie Muirhead looked to respond but Mark Ridgers was equal to his effort in the fifth minute. Ten minutes before the interval Sean McAllister curled in a low free kick from the edge of the box to double our advantage and open his scoring account at Inverness. Plenty of bookings but no further scoring saw Inverness pick up a vital three points in the relegation battle although we still remain in ninth spot but only two points from Dunfermline in fifth.
