  1. Sorry it's taken 10 days and is slightly off topic but my mane point is that since Ritchie has taken over the reins he has got the bit between his teeth and is trying to create a stable, balanced team despite the handicap of limited funds. Furlong term success the board need to keep the St Ledger balanced and not saddle the club with debt. I think they've done pretty well despite the previous manager trying to stirrup trouble - it mustang er them! A top six finish will be grand, national cup competitions are important so Ascot tish Cup run would be Good woodn't it. Winning a local Derby or too at a canter would also help keep our Premier League status in tack t.

  2. We've been signing non league players up until now .. I'll happily take a young player with pedigree from a Championship team. No risk for us in a 6 month loan .. if it doesn't work out then he leaves at Christmas. We needed some sort of signing to get kids interested in ICT again since they can't even buy a football strip! Imagine being in school and saying the guy ICT signed was in the same youth team as Pogba (the most expensive player in the world)... Will make them proud to say they support ICT .. I'm buzzing ffs! Fans deserve some hope and a reason to turn out to games. It's why I keep banging on about the importance of investment in the team .. It can pay for itself

  3. Nobody seems to have picked up on the news item about Richie Foran supporting an initiative to help players who may have mental health problems. Inverness manager supports mental health initiative for footballers http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/scotland/37225204 In this story it is really good to hear that as team captain Richie would visit players who were out with long term injuries recognising that this can be very depressing. He also talks about the importance of recognising that some unusual behaviour on or off the park can often be a symptom of a problem. We moan often enough about what players get paid these days, but it is important to recognise that it can be emotionally very difficult for these young lads. They are often living away from friends and family, they are subject to the pressures of high expections from the club and to oftenunfair criticism from the fans and media. The mental health of the players is therefore a vitally important issue and it is brilliant to see our new young manager providing some leadership here. Well done Richie!

  4. Raven / Horner / Vigurs could all do a job at LB. Their services won't be required though as Tremarco is indestructible.

  5. The shirt does have a short shelf life so the later it comes in the less I would expect them to sell. They will already have lost out on lots of kids birthdays etc. Customer Champions is a bit ironic lol

  6. Agree to a large extent with almost every post above ... which seems paradoxical maybe. However, Yogi's reign at Inverness was paradoxical ... on the one hand unprecedented cup/league/Europe milestones/achievements etc probably never to be repeated, often attractive passing football ... on the other hand petty fall-outs/benching fans' favourites, stubborn refusal to change approach, sideways tippy/tappy when having off-days, dodgy/unbalanced player recruitment. The interview was strangely much the same ... plenty has been said of the negative above (which I agree is disappointing) ... but there was also positive ... he said he loved his time up here, "great bunch of lads" (should be his epitaph lol), acknowledged budget restraints were real, the Scottish Cup winning day was his happiest (or joint) in football and, notably post-departure, he jumped off his sofa in celebration hearing Meekings' winner go in on Saturday. Over the piece, the positive times shared with Yogi far outweighed the negative times and that is good to hold onto.

  8. Played in good company.. same youth squad that produced Pogba, Lingard, Ravel Morrison, Will Keane and Tunniclife .. so must have something. This could be a great wee signing If we keep a hold of Tansey and Meekings then this could be a very decent window told you there was money to spend!!!!

  10. Great to see Foran getting involved in this initiative. Mental health doesn't seem to have been an issue that has been addressed much among sportsmen in Scotland until recently, and there does seem to have been a certain amount of fear, ignorance and prejudice around the issue, if the case of Jimmy Calderwood's bullying of Ryan O'Leary is in any way representative.

  12. we are a fickle bunch aren't we? we **** and moan that the board doesn't tie up players onto long-term deals so that we don't lose them for free, then when we have a chance of making some money off of a transfer, we don't want to let go! the likes of Tansey, Drapes and Meekings etc. will start to get very expensive in terms of wages when renegotiating; i suspect that the board will have to make the tough decisions about when it's best to cash in or see if we can sustain the wages long term....hmmm...if only it was as simple as ChampMan!

  13. the best and most sustainable way of improving cash flow into the club is to increase the fanbase. no idea how this can be done more than it already is - winning apparently doesn't help long-term. Still too many OF families in the area.

  14. This season we have been working really hard to get local businesses on board to sponsor the buses to enable us to run a bus to every game. We have a few on board so far and hope to confirm a few more soon. This will help keep the prices down for travelling supporters. There is also a lot of fundraising done to keep prices down while the cost of hiring the bus goes up every year!

  15. I can't say I ever particularly noticed that and if he did, he always kept it well hidden. Terry Butcher used to give us unprecedentedly long answers to questions which were great because you could sometimes get a couple of quotes or soundbites out of each one. However when John Hughes arrived, his answers turned out to be even longer than Terry's and he would even digress into providing answers to questions that he hadn't even been asked. I would have thought that someone who loathed speaking to the media would have kept things as short as possible, although conversely short answers aren't necessarily a sign that an interviewee doesn't like speaking.

  17. It is worth remembering that Yogi always loathed talking to the press - he knew he wasn't very good at it, and often came across badly - especially when printed ad verbatim. So I'm tempted to give him the benefit of the doubt with the Foran comments. That being said, his claims that his departure was nothing to do with the budget are rubbish. He clearly tried to talk his way to the sack at the end of last season - his repeated comments to the press about money were no accident and made his position untenable. This interview is little else other than him advertising himself for a new job, claiming that anything that went wrong at the club was someone else's fault.

  19. I don't think it's bitter at all - just honest. And I always had the impression that JH was an honest guy. I suspect it'll be many years before ICT reach the heights that he took us to and I'll always remember him for those achievements - undoubtedly our best manager so far! And didn't he achieve his highest finish in Scottish football when he was with us? For a while ICT was good for John Hughes and John Hughes was good for ICT. Don't forget that!

  20. The fact is that JH is now part of our past and, due to his own actions, a somewhat tarnished part of our past at that. We now have a new manager who is admittedly inexperienced but is learning all the time, who is happy to listen to and respect the views of senior players. I suspect that Yogi would have regarded the recent players meeting as dissent rather than as a positive thing as Richie clearly does. A manager who is happy to be here, who has a good relationship with the board and chairman, who does not leave out key players out of petty revenge and who is content with his budget which is the maximum we can afford and is not to stubborn to change things when they are clearly not working. ICT and Richie Foran have a bright future in the game. I doubt that the same can be said for John Hughes.

  21. How does anyone become a coach anyway, by doing the badges (which we all know Richies done) and then getting actual hands on experience. Hows anyone meant to get that without actually doing the job! Way I see it is, if Yogi managed it, and managed it for 14 years+, anyone can!!

  22. Hope we tell Aberdeen that Tansey as a clause in his contract to sell him for £500,000, let Aberdeen bid that much for him then tell them to f'ck off just to wind them up.

  28. And did you not know that although many of the maximum of 250 who voted against the merger 20 odd years ago have always come to games.... at least 6000 of them are still boycotting the Caledonian Stadium? If Dougal was here he would tell you, Sunny Chim!!!

    • Dundee United 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Hopes amongst the Caley Jags support were at rock bottom ahead of this one with the threat of relegation looming large. With all hands to the pumps, Shaw, Boyes and Ujdur were brought back into the squad whilst not really 100% fit. Shaw started as did Pepple and Boyes with Billy Mckay, Lawal and Danny Devine dropping to the bench. Cammy Harper was given the Captain's armband today. It's a daunting task going to the lions den to face title favourites but underdog is our preferred tag. Anyway, 252 of them turned up at Tannadice in eternal hope and Duffy heightened the intensity only for Louis Moult to level things up. That's how it ended, a result we would have bitten your hand off before kick off.

    • Inverness CT 1-2 Ayr United - Report
Having sat through one of the worst games for many a year there is little to hope for now apart from Arbroath to keep losing because we certainly appear to find it difficult to win. We have no game changers in our squad and our manager is playing the wrong type of anti-football to help our cause. Big Dunc thought we were the better team. Pleeeeeaaase, give me a break! We were second to everything and Ayr were always one step ahead of us after the first three minutes. SHOCKER springs to mind.

    • Inverness CT 0-0 Airdrieonians - Report
These two sides looked as though they could play for the whole of March without scoring. In terms of opportunities, the hosts probably shaded it, but when we did miss the first defender, crosses invariably went behind the incoming strikers. On the one occasion we got on the end of the ball Billy Mckay's flicked header was cleared away from goal by Kanayo Megwa.
Not the worst 0-0 draw ever, but scoring opportunities were at a premium. Neither keeper was overly troubled and this game had scoreless written all over it given the evidence of the first twenty minutes.

    • Inverness CT -V- Airdrieonians - Preview
Promoted Airdrie are sitting in fifth place in the table, just below the play-off places with former Caley Jag Nikolay Todorov getting amongst the goals and he will provide a big test for our central defence. We have found Airdrie a difficult proposition at times this season but we did win the last home encounter against them.

    • Morton 0-2 Inverness CT - Report
What a start for Inverness and Billy Mckay, who answered his abusers from last week by opening the scoring in the second minute, firing into the top corner after an assist from Cammy Harper. Robbie Muirhead looked to respond but Mark Ridgers was equal to his effort in the fifth minute. Ten minutes before the interval Sean McAllister curled in a low free kick from the edge of the box to double our advantage and open his scoring account at Inverness. Plenty of bookings but no further scoring saw Inverness pick up a vital three points in the relegation battle although we still remain in ninth spot but only two points from Dunfermline in fifth.
