  1. Oh my. I didn't realise I was the only one who is totally embarrassed by our incompetence. The team has nothing to do with this but unless we get our act together we won't have a club to Support. I don't expect positive responses from anyone so blinkered.

  4. Charles, as you're "winding down" and "not all that fussy", can't you be a bit more explicit? Those of us with no more than a passing acquaintance with The Heathmount don't know what you're getting at.

  5. Dawn of a new Era The new season kicks off with the visit of Brechin City to the Caledonian Stadium for a Group A Betfred League Cup encounter, Robbo's first competitive game back at the helm. Brechin did well to win promotion having finished fourth in the first division, but they pipped Alloa in the play-offs to send them into the Championship. It's over thirteen years since we last played a competitive match against The City who now have former Caley Jags machine Darren Dods as their player manager. The last game ended in a narrow 1-0 victory for Inverness in the Highlands. John Robertson was our manager that day and Barry Wilson grabbed the only goal from the penalty spot. When we first entered the Leagues, Brechin held the upper hand over Inverness, winning two and drawing one, with ICT taking the last encounter in 1996. Since then, Inverness gradually got the better of the Angus club and in season 2003/2004 we won all five games against Brechin, scoring 17 goals in the process. However, although the manager remains the same at Inverness, it's all change on the park and there was little given away in pre-season to give us any indication of what to expect this campaign. Signings were arriving at the double with striker George Oakley coming in from AFC Wimbledon and Inverness lad Mark Ridgers via Partick where he was back up keeper last season. Collin Seedorf a nephew of the great Clarence Seedorf arrived from Dutch football and Ricardo Calder and Mathew Elsdon were next to wave the Red'n'Blue scarf above their heads whilst proclaiming their lifelong ambition was to play for Caley Thistle in the Championship. There is also an exciting prospect in Zak Elbouzedi coming in from the West Brom set-up, a flying winger similar to Jake Mulraney, so that could be interesting. Former Motherwell defender Joe Chalmers has been added to the squad gaining a two year deal. Alex Cooper has also been linked with a move to Inverness having featured in a couple of pre-season games. A lot has changed since the end of the season, chairmen, directors, managers, players, ball boys, tweeters and ticket sellers have all been removed. Some have been replaced and it's not easy to keep tabs on. Notable faces out or on their way are Richie Foran, Kevin McNaughton, Scott Boden, Alex Fisher, Larnell Cole, Josh Meekings, Owain Fon Williams and another as yet unnamed high earner (if there is such a thing at ICT), an endless list really. Struggling for information this early in the season, but apparently over the close-season Dougie Hill, Ross Caldwell, Gareth Rodger, Alan Trouten and Darren McCormack have all left the Hedge at Brechin. No doubt due to cuts and trimming the squad. However, Willie Dyer, Liam Watt, Aron Lynas, Finn Graham, Chris O'Neill, Gary Fusco and Elliot Ford are all staying. Top signing appears to be Ryan McGeever ex-Falkirk who has signed on as has Isaac Layne, defender Ewan Spark. Late arrivals from Livingston are midfielder Jordan Sinclair and defender Sean Crighton and winger Kalvin Orsi from St Mirren. All are expected to be in the squad for tomorrows game. We begin the season with a lengthy injury list. The aforementioned Zak Elbouzedi is out (he'll be just Zak from now on), his crutches a bit of a giveaway. Strikers John Baird and George Oakley are struggling with knocks, Carl Tremarco and Aaron Doran have longer term injuries. After that it's anyone's guess who Robbo will be selecting for this seasons opener. Brechin have Liam Watt out with a broken wrist. They also have a few suspended, allegedly, Chris O'Neill, James Dale and Finn Graham. Star signing Ryan McGeever is reported to be on holiday at the moment. Over to you Dods, you're on the bench, so who are the other two subs? Name yer team Machine.

  6. Caleyboy, Think you are becoming very focussed on all the faults we can find. We support a football team lets focus on their performance recruitment and management on the field rather than endlessly saying how terrible a club we are. Everytime you criticise or denegrate the club negatively you may impact a fan who may decide not to go. Absolutely identify what can be improved but pointless statements like 'shows what a joke we are ' just looses any positive response from myself.

  10. I would not be at all surprised if we show a very substantial loss for last financial year. From what I hear some players were earning big money and with our limited gate receipts I don't think there would be anything in the coffers. This would mean that the company needed cash from somewhere to cover wages etc. Where did we get that money from? Are we now due to repay this? Oh how I wish the board would come clean and tell us what kind of financial state we are in and give us the true reason they are calling this EGM.

  11. Come on, if it was nothing the EGM would not have been called! And BEFORE the accounts have been issued. Again we are not being given the True picture.

  12. Ok time to swallow the bitter pill and get better. Our club has been run exceptionally well over the majority of its history. With a small fanbase, limited cashflow , and multiple financial external issues that have heavily impacted other clubs over the same period. The same external issues have resulted in at least 4? Clubs becoming bankrupt/ morally bankrupt over the same period. Rangers, dundee, hearts, hibs who were all almost rubbed out. (I am sure some pedants will correct this) We have taken bob a job players and developed the majority of them and created some classy footballers. Rooney, shinnies, draper, christie, watkins etc. As they developed they have contributed to stunning performances in league and cup . Stable top 6 team , europe , cup semis etc. We created a dread for teams coming to the stadium which we have now lost. And for several years (3)? were the biggest thorn in celtics side . Taking the most points of them in league. We have the best song in the world that always makes me smile 'bridge and a castle' Yes there are things the club could do better but endlessly knocking the people who have given their time to run the club does not help and is not healthy. Yours positively

  13. If we are half as successful next season as we have been this last season we will be delighted . Ran a bus to every away game with no last minute cancellations and hope to achieve the same next season !!

  14. Sorry RiG, but the bit of your post I've underlined is simple unadulterated bull sh*t. I know that Don tried to recruit people (and did) after years of us - Don, Andy, Jack and myself - going to every game home and away to cover it, often at considerable cost and for precious little thanks. Do you know that a lot of the equipment used to give you highlights was bought by the people concerned? That they were paid not a single penny for their efforts? Got absolutely no freebies? Got hassle after hassle from people who really didn't want to be interviewed? Fought to get a better internet connection for the stadium so that we could broadcast highlights? And on a few occasions even paid their own petrol costs. Passwords? least of the problems. And then you tell us that we didn't want help? I'll tell you that I had actually tried to leave that media team so many times that Don and Andy were sick of hearing it because I was spending less and less time with family etc. I couldn't, simply because I could see on one on the horizon that would do the job and I didn't want yet more work foisted upon the rest of the team who are my mates. Don got new guys in and I went (to another unpaid, gladly volunteered matchday job) faster than snow off a dyke. Thanks for covering yourself with "maybe I've picked it up wrong etc." but that doesn't actually justify any of that rubbish. I'm raging that you can put utter tripe on this forum masquerading as considered opinion. It's not and a retraction would be nice. I'll wait.

  15. It could be any of the things you mention (apart from getting rid of the puddle!) or it could be nothing. It is very common even for companies with no immediate fundraising plans to pass these resolutions so that the board can, if they ever need or want to, allot shares and raise money quickly and easily.

    • Dundee United 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Hopes amongst the Caley Jags support were at rock bottom ahead of this one with the threat of relegation looming large. With all hands to the pumps, Shaw, Boyes and Ujdur were brought back into the squad whilst not really 100% fit. Shaw started as did Pepple and Boyes with Billy Mckay, Lawal and Danny Devine dropping to the bench. Cammy Harper was given the Captain's armband today. It's a daunting task going to the lions den to face title favourites but underdog is our preferred tag. Anyway, 252 of them turned up at Tannadice in eternal hope and Duffy heightened the intensity only for Louis Moult to level things up. That's how it ended, a result we would have bitten your hand off before kick off.

    • Inverness CT 1-2 Ayr United - Report
Having sat through one of the worst games for many a year there is little to hope for now apart from Arbroath to keep losing because we certainly appear to find it difficult to win. We have no game changers in our squad and our manager is playing the wrong type of anti-football to help our cause. Big Dunc thought we were the better team. Pleeeeeaaase, give me a break! We were second to everything and Ayr were always one step ahead of us after the first three minutes. SHOCKER springs to mind.

    • Inverness CT 0-0 Airdrieonians - Report
These two sides looked as though they could play for the whole of March without scoring. In terms of opportunities, the hosts probably shaded it, but when we did miss the first defender, crosses invariably went behind the incoming strikers. On the one occasion we got on the end of the ball Billy Mckay's flicked header was cleared away from goal by Kanayo Megwa.
Not the worst 0-0 draw ever, but scoring opportunities were at a premium. Neither keeper was overly troubled and this game had scoreless written all over it given the evidence of the first twenty minutes.

    • Inverness CT -V- Airdrieonians - Preview
Promoted Airdrie are sitting in fifth place in the table, just below the play-off places with former Caley Jag Nikolay Todorov getting amongst the goals and he will provide a big test for our central defence. We have found Airdrie a difficult proposition at times this season but we did win the last home encounter against them.

    • Morton 0-2 Inverness CT - Report
What a start for Inverness and Billy Mckay, who answered his abusers from last week by opening the scoring in the second minute, firing into the top corner after an assist from Cammy Harper. Robbie Muirhead looked to respond but Mark Ridgers was equal to his effort in the fifth minute. Ten minutes before the interval Sean McAllister curled in a low free kick from the edge of the box to double our advantage and open his scoring account at Inverness. Plenty of bookings but no further scoring saw Inverness pick up a vital three points in the relegation battle although we still remain in ninth spot but only two points from Dunfermline in fifth.
