  1. I rarely comment on here for fear of my opinion getting shot down in flames by some! Yesterdays game was poor from us but i have every confidence in JR to sort it we have to remember the mess left behind by Foran and the fool who let him make the mess so there will be players low on confidence but my we have a Gem in Seedorf who stood out yesterday and i thought Vigurs stepped up to the mark yesterday never thought id be writing that! Teams like Falkirk & DU will be the "big games" this season so lets take yesterday as a trial and move on and learn from it.

  2. I didn't hear John Robertson's interview, but I'm a bit uneasy with the idea that he's publicly criticising his players so early, even if there is some truth in what he says. With so many changes in the squad, it's surely imperative to try to foster a sense of unity and team spirit - a few seasons ago, we'd often hear players commenting on how close-knit the squad was, and how essential team bonding is in a relatively remote place like Inverness. Inevitably that closeness will have been lost to some extent with so many players moving on, and if it is to be rebuilt, then it probably has to come from the top. I don't think the process will be helped by the manager questioning players' professionalism when so many of them still barely know each other, or each others' games. Re. yesterday's performance, I echo what most people have said about Seedorf being our best player both defensively and in an attacking sense. Baird worked hard enough without really threatening, offside goal apart. Oakley did look more effective than Zschusschen when he came on, but in the past our strikers have often been slow to come on to a game, and Zschusschen needs to be given the opportunity to develop an understanding with his team-mates. Elsdon looked naive positionally for Falkirk's opener, but given how inexperienced he is, this is hopefully something that will develop with time. Overall, there was certainly a lack of fluency about the team compared to those of a few seasons ago, but it's still far, far too early to make any meaningful predictions about how we might do this season based on these games - many of the players barely know each other, and even the manager won't really know the players' strengths and weaknesses in a match context until he's seen them play several more times and tried out several more line-ups. It'll be September at least, and probably later, before any of us can really feel familiar with the players' games and know what our most effective formation and starting line up are.

  3. Lets just do f***k all then and watch RC take the iniative. We need to to at least try and connect with the city, have a presence. Debenhams and Zoo was a half arsed attempt, surely in this day we could try and do better.

  4. Strange how last week's win over Brechin brought dancing in the streets from some folk, yet when we lose to Falkirk those same people claim this competition is just glorified friendlies...

  5. Foran's main excuse was certain players influencing others in a negative manner. It would appear that these "excuses" may still be around. Robbo is rightly flexing his muscles and the clear message is "Cut it out, play for the shirt or ship out". Nothing wrong with that in my book. It is no wonder that there is no fluency or apparent cohesiveness. That will take time. This is a different league, a different approach, a new management and practically a reformed squad. From my perspective we need to stay in the hunt in the early part of the season. I fear that Kenny and Foran left a bit of a mess.

  6. Two home games so far this season and on both occasions the attendance figure has not been published in match reports etc. Not even the 'official' SPFL web site can provide the figure. Surely there is someone there that count above 20 . Is someone finding it difficult with the count because they can't use season ticket holder numbers? How does the count work? Turnstile figure or guessimate? Note to participants of Gringo's NPL: Please be patient with updates. Until the club gets its act together regarding this issue it could take an age to produce. It's in their hands (and toes).

  7. We were garbage. What was Ridgers thinking for that 2nd goal? One maybe 2 of our crosses into the box reached an ICT jersey. 0-2 was a fair result.

  8. There will be further dwindling crowds if they don't sort out this ticketing policy with no pay gates, absolute shambles yesterday even with pre-ordered tickets. I'm a season ticket holder so this only affects me on cup games, however this apparent desire to operate without cash turnstiles is one sure way of driving potential new/casual supporters away due to the inefficiency shown yesterday. Lets have a common sense approach to this, we are now a Championship side so lets operate like one until we hopefully return to the Premier Division, this should also apply to access to the Main Stand facilities from the North Terracing as well, one week it's open the next some weegie jobsworth's saying 'yer no getting in'

  10. Oh, and Cable Guy, you were given 3 red dots early on for a post in which I could not find much wrong at all. Seems clear that it was just a good, open and honest expression of your feelings. A red dot seems to bring with it and reflect dark negativety which usually doesn't achieve much. If people don't agree with you then let them tell us why and not try to crush you for offering an honest other viewpoint.

  11. You are indeed entitled to your opinion and I respect that. Having had "a wee think" about the second half as you suggest, Falkirk didn't have to work too hard to hang on to their lead, our play made sure they didn't have to. I think the main difference was that they took their gifted chances and we didn't, nor indeed create many. We can only judge on where we see now, not what we imagine might be the case at the end of the season.

  12. Cleeky minions???? Youve really missed the point of a forum havent you? Obviously your opinion not for challenging then.

  13. Really. We gifted them the second. Have a wee think, what did Falkirk do in the second half. You are entitled to your opinion, as am I, and I stand by mine. By the end of the season I don't think we will far behind them.

  14. You will have noticed yesterday they beat us 2-0...... that's how far off we are . We concede 2 and barely have a few shots on target..... that's how far off we are, not to mention the performance against Stirling Albion !!!!!!

  15. Wholly agree with this. As a travelling supporter the hassle of collecting a ticket is not necessary or good enough. As Donview says.......are we trying to encourage people to attend the games or actually put them off?

  16. Looking at the goals on a YouTube they are both pretty poor. First goal, Vigurs doesn't track back to cover McKee and, as said above, Elsdon should have dealt with what was a relatively poor cross. The second goal is obviously a mistake by Ridgers, a terrible clearance. However, we don't seem to be able to respond to a press from opponents and end up putting our keepers and defenders under pressure. We were vulnerable to it last season and there were glimpses of it again against Stirling and again there. Robertson and the coaches need to deal with that.

  17. Let's face it, the footballing shambles of last season under Foran will take some time to sort out. (Without raking up 'old coals' unduly, Kenny Cameron and his board share much of the blame for this, not in originally appointing Foran, but in their lack of decisiveness in getting rid of him by Xmas). At least in Robertson I have some optimism that he will be able to mould his, largely new, squad into a unit which at least might hold its own in the Championship. I'm not expecting miracles, mid table at best. Anything higher than that, with maybe a wee cup run, will be a bonus.

  19. Yup, can I change my selection, please?? Just a couple of very minor adjustments: Falkirk Dunfermline United QoS ICT St Mirren Livingston Morton .....I know it's early days and we need time for [insert cliche], but I saw very little on Tuesday and heard even less today to inspire confidence. Seedorf might be a find, but we need more than that to make a real challenge. I'm not sure we have the players for 4-4-2, particularly in midfield. If we're going with attacking full backs, surely go with 3 centre halves....except we don't have 3 fit centre halves. No pace on show today, which must have contributed to a lack of chances: Falkirk stood off and picked us off. I don't know what the answer is, but we're nowhere near the answer with the teams over the last week.

  20. Vigurs was moaning througout the Stirling game. Petulant and over-rated

  23. I did find that too on the Monday after the game. Must take 48 hours then to count a 1000+ folk. The Tweeter feed sometimes announced the crowd figure but not sure if that was just CaleyD whom, of course, isn't there anymore. Place has gone to pot without him

  24. This constant carping about Vigurs is simply not justified. In the two games I have seen so far, he has been one of our better players. He seems top be a whipping boy for some of our support, if her doesn't play well, then by all means criticise but some posters on here will criticise him before a game even starts or when he plays well. Lets get behind all our players. As for yesterdays game, agree with most of what has been said. Thought Seedorf was MoM and really only Vigurs, Draper and Baird get pass marks. Ridgers does not inspire any confidence in goal and defensively, apart from Seedorf, thought we were very poor. How Chalmers stayed on for 90 minutes is beyond me as he was very poor. "Susan" played well like a Susan although he wasn't helped by some very poor refereeing which had him being continually fouled. Polworth was poor again. Oaklet and Cooper looked okay when they came on. As others have said, we gifted Falkirk both their goals and they only had one other worthwhile chance that I can recall. Main concern for me was that we did not create a lot either, as was the case against Brechin but still early days yet.

  25. Zschusschen is hardly young and developing, he's 25. If he's not close to the finished article by now it's unlikely he ever will be. Granted he appears to have come to first team football a little later so in terms of what you'd call a real football age he may be a couple of years behind, but not as if he's a kid. He will take time to gel to team mates and different style of football in UK though. I'd agree with the rest. My only worry is that Foran too often lamented the hunger and desire. I hope there's not a deeper issue.

  26. Polworth is a classic example of player who should've been loaned out a few seasons back. Surely had he had a season at say an Elgin or Peterhead, playing every week in central midfield, it would've done him far better than season after season of being on the periphery of the first team, shunted into every position possible in order to fill a gap and spending the meantime in the U20s league. He definitely has talent and he's not a lazy player, he's just never been truly given a chance to grow as a footballer. Has though the chance for him to really hone the central role here passed though...?

  27. Early Days - Lets just hope that we are learning and adjusting. Far too early to judge.

  28. I really approve of the idea of trying out Seedorf in a more advanced, forward role. Good defence is great to have but if you can't score then you can't can't expect to win the game. This player seems to have skill and considerable confidence and having the ability to control the ball and supply the right pass from midfield at the right time to the player in the right position sounds....awesome ; and a recipe for growing success. Schusen is a young, developing player who sounds as if he has a lot to learn and may still be timid and lacking in confidence at this point. My question? Is he ready to be played in the first team when this season is so crucial to us? Sounds like he may also need encouragement; and praise when he does well. When you listen to John Robertson it's re-assuring. He seems so calm and confident and seems to have already decided what he wants and understands what he sees. This leads to decisiveness in a forward-looking manager. Once John gets them clicking then this could be a very good team indeed. My feelings about this year is that we should really get going as quickly as we can. The more success we have early on, then the more respect other teams will afford us and they will perhaps not be quite so keen to attack us and cut us down as quickly as they might otherwise do? Add in the aspect of "urgency" and Bob's yer uncle and Willie's your Wisp.

  29. Sorry RiG, but the bit of your post I've underlined is simple unadulterated bull sh*t. I know that Don tried to recruit people (and did) after years of us - Don, Andy, Jack and myself - going to every game home and away to cover it, often at considerable cost and for precious little thanks. Do you know that a lot of the equipment used to give you highlights was bought by the people concerned? That they were paid not a single penny for their efforts? Got absolutely no freebies? Got hassle after hassle from people who really didn't want to be interviewed? Fought to get a better internet connection for the stadium so that we could broadcast highlights? And on a few occasions even paid their own petrol costs. Passwords? least of the problems. And then you tell us that we didn't want help? I'll tell you that I had actually tried to leave that media team so many times that Don and Andy were sick of hearing it because I was spending less and less time with family etc. I couldn't, simply because I could see on one on the horizon that would do the job and I didn't want yet more work foisted upon the rest of the team who are my mates. Don got new guys in and I went (to another unpaid, gladly volunteered matchday job) faster than snow off a dyke. Thanks for covering yourself with "maybe I've picked it up wrong etc." but that doesn't actually justify any of that rubbish. I'm raging that you can put utter tripe on this forum masquerading as considered opinion. It's not and a retraction would be nice. I'll wait.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

    • Inverness CT -V- Raith Rovers - Preview
The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.
