  1. Very sad news today hearing about the death of Terry's son. Thoughts are with the Butcher family.

  2. Was just reading an article about this story before seeing the post. Indeed, thoughts are with Terry and family at this time. A death in the family is never easy and harder still when its a parent mourning one of their children.

  3. Correct, it is for last season's cup run, so the money will have been budgeted for.

  6. At least the Board gave us a good scapegoat in J Robertson to allow us to have the feeling that he alone is to blame. We all know, though, that that explanation is far too simple to really have any credibility. A few good wins and , miraculously, he will then turn into a hero, even a saviour. So let's just keep our fingers crossed and sit tight.

  7. I would think everyone associated with ICT would send our sympathies to Terry and his family. Losing your son is unthinkable. God bless Terry and family, our thoughts are with you.

  8. Can't believe the time I've wasted reading this thread. The darkest hour comes before the dawn, get behind the club and we can turn this around. Lurching from change to change will achieve nothing, only make things worse in an environment where we are cash-strapped. We've replaced good players with not-so-good players, that's the fundamental problem but it's not easy and we all know the issues - location, limited finances etc. Rather than taking yet more hits on paying off failures I'd much sooner see us investing in somebody/a network to identify talent and/or links to larger clubs to help develop their talent. We need to try and reduce the risk on new signings where in the past we seemed to buy well/luckily as opposed to the opposite over more recent years. Off the park we seem to be making progress, so if ever there was a time to support the team it is now and whilst falling numbers are only to be expected we need to do our bit more than ever

  9. Not sure it would be as simple as that, who would replace him? How long would they get? JR took over at a very difficult time and he didn't bring a magic wand. The confidence of the remaining team was shot to bits, battle weary from relegation and headless chicken management. Players were brought it on a small budget so it will take time to turn things around. Hopefully the last two games are something to work on and gain some traction.

  11. How can you budget for it until Celtic actually qualify though. Bit of a risk isn't it

  12. Regardless of a lottery win or otherwise, first and priority should be investment in youth development. Better facilities either refurbishing an existing empty unit somewhere or building a big shed with an indoor pitch and gym facilities. Get free buses from the schools to the training center after school then drop them back home at night so its not down to parents. Get some decent outdoor pitch areas. Finally pay for some enthusiastic locals, ex-players or current players to do coaching badges both here and abroad and get them working with the youngsters. Even opening it up to HL teams for training on the premise they take our youngsters on loans & trials. Its shocking how poor we are at bringing through our own players so anything that can be done to improve that is a must. Invest in something that provides a return and is sustainable.

  14. Don't get too worked up about it MJ. If you aren't from these parts, or of a certain generation, you may not fully appreciate the context and background. ? Nor indeed some of the typical retaliations

    • Inverness CT -V- Raith Rovers - Preview
The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.

It's Now or Never: That's what Elvis used to say. We are in deep trouble up to our necks with no signs that we can turn this around. Defeat to Arbroath could be the final nail in our coffin with only fifteen points available to us ahead of this game. The play-offs are looking more likely by the minute, but it's not beyond the realms of possibilty that automatic relegation is still an option should Arbroath beat us on Saturday. With the long suffering fans rapidly losing faith in Big Dunc, it's crunch time as Arbroath head North to the venue they won at the last time they were here. Sadly they come to the Caledonian Stadium off the back of a 2-1 midweek defeat to Airdrie, and we could all but relegate them on Saturday with a win. However, that's nothing to gloat about as we could be next...
