  4. The return of Doran was the highlight of the game - I was pleasantly surprised at how fit and lively he looked. Bodes well.

  5. It was a bit disjointed & we defended far too deep in the first half but we still look pretty solid & kept the run going. Polly & Vigurs at the heart of all our good play again. Can't believe Polly's still getting stick - there will be bids for him in January on current form. Great to see Doran coming on.

  6. Probably a deserved win for us in the end after a pretty shaky first half performance. Considering the good defensive run we had been on recently it was quite surprising to see us looking pretty porous at the back for much of the first half with quite a few desperate tackles and scrambles throughout. Second half was much better, looked a lot more resolute defensively and had a much easier time of it after going a goal up as Falkirk started chasing the game a bit more which left gaps at the back. Well taken goal by Bell. I think the cross from the right was flicked up by either a Falkirk defender or perhaps Baird and it was a lovely shot lashed across goal into the net from the wee man after taking some time to steady himself. Probably should have added to our lead but for some wasteful play which on a fair few occasions saw a poor choice of final ball costing us a good chance to get a second. Raven and Tremarco did well for us and Vigurs was really good up until he took a knock in the second half. Polworth was a bizarre mixture of really good support from midfield but also some very poor passing choices and almost trying to do too much and beat several men. He seemed to get a lot of abuse of those that were there in the North Stand which was, as per usual, over the top. Bell was fantastic and Baird, despite not scoring, linked well with the former. Really poor crowd but that's probably to be expected given it wasn't a season ticket game and the bitterly cold temperatures. Fair play to the 100 or so Bairns fans for making it up the road. I think everyone was pretty happy it didn't go to extra time...

  9. Back to woeful defending in the first half. We were fortunate that the Bairns and Hippolyte in particular, left their shooting boots on the bus otherwise we could easily have gone in at the interval two or three down. Much better in the second half and deserved to edge it. Good to see Doran back in competitive action. As others have said, Crusaders, either home or away, in the semis rather than the tedium of meeting another Championship club five times in a season. We can win this competition and the confidence from that can only be good for our league campaign.

  16. Well done Robbo and Carl. The defence has been tightened up considerably and maybe it's no coincidence that this started with the return of Raven and Tremarco. Now all we need to do is start taking more of the chances we are creating and score some more goals.

  17. I am not a big fan of Dean Sheils but he has overcome a significant impairment to play professional sport at a reasonable level. For a moron of a fellow professional to mock him for that is a disgrace and, in my view, an eight match ban is about right.

    • Inverness CT -V- Raith Rovers - Preview
The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.

It's Now or Never: That's what Elvis used to say. We are in deep trouble up to our necks with no signs that we can turn this around. Defeat to Arbroath could be the final nail in our coffin with only fifteen points available to us ahead of this game. The play-offs are looking more likely by the minute, but it's not beyond the realms of possibilty that automatic relegation is still an option should Arbroath beat us on Saturday. With the long suffering fans rapidly losing faith in Big Dunc, it's crunch time as Arbroath head North to the venue they won at the last time they were here. Sadly they come to the Caledonian Stadium off the back of a 2-1 midweek defeat to Airdrie, and we could all but relegate them on Saturday with a win. However, that's nothing to gloat about as we could be next...
