  1. Looking forward to other Highland league sides informing us when they are facing ICT.

  2. This is also a squad that went something like 12 games unbeaten at the business end of the season.

  3. Spot on DD. When it's anything to do with any liability, it's got nothing to do with them, but when there's any credit involved, they are desperate to inherit it. They just want to cherry pick the good bits.

  4. People associated with the Ibrox set up just get more and more vile and hypocritical. It is reported today that lawyers for The Rangers have informed the Solicitor representing a man who claims he was sexually abused at Ibrox in the 1980s that he should contact the liquidators as the duty of care is not with the current owners. The current club is happy to take ownership of the record of success of the previous club and it's employees, but not of the actions of it's employees which have caused financial and personal suffering to others. The lawyers in this latest case may well be legally correct in the response they have given, but if so, then surely it is time that the SFA played them at their own game and made it clear that none of the trophies and titles of the previous club belong to the club currently occupying Ibrox.

  5. whatever our recruitment policy is jr and his team seem to be doing a good job behind the scenes. i also applaud our youth dept in bring 10 potential players into the full-time environment and giving them the opportunity to mature in the hfl. it is however vital they get the appropriate level of coaching so i hope charlie christie is involved on a daily basis.

  6. I really dislike Roy making comments about Inverness and our relegation. Let him comment on his club and we will look after ourselves. Budgets dont guarantee anything. Look at Utd this season, big budget no promotion. Livi, small budget but excellent team spirit/ work ethic and have a chance of promotion. He has inexperienced managers at the helm ending the season with a whimper, we have a manager who has settled into the job and finished the season on a high. I know which I would rather. Bring it on!!

  7. The meeting was (for the most part) conducted in amicable fashion. In brief.... Resolution One, to remove the current board, was voted "for" by the members in person and by proxy. Resolution Two, to set a date for the election, was done so as the 19th June 2018. The board will remain in place until the elections (a requirement to protect the legal status of the organisation) and an election management group will/has been formed...and will include two volunteers who step forward from the floor. This will include representation/assistance from Supporters Direct. The board have asked that anyone who did not receive notice of the meeting get in touch to ensure they have the correct contact details (caleyjagstogether@gmail.com) if you are speaking to anyone who's not online then please assist them as best you can. Notices and details on making nominations for the elections will be sent out in due course. From a personal point of view, it was a disappointing that many of the people who have made a lot of noise (one way or the other) on CJT were not in attendance at the meeting personally, or represented by a proxy....some people would have been unable due to other commitments and/or geography and those are not the people I am referencing. CJT exists for many reasons, but above all else (IMO) it is the custodian of a 108 shares handed down by the old guard and carrying an enhanced (10%) voting right. It might sound cliched, but those shares quite literally represent all the blood sweat and tears that went into the formation of Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC. I appreciate that people will be looking at the society right now and seeing something they probably want nothing to do with, but it can't change unless fans step up to the plate to get it back on track....and once back on track, help it thrive. Right now it needs people capable of the former to come forward for the elections in June....even if that is just a short term commitment. There's 10 places available on the board, so ample space for those with the necessary skills.....and just as important, those with the necessary energy and passion to get sh!t done!

  8. Lawrence Shankland has signed a new deal with Ayr United. Probably a long shot anyway but I like the idea of going for players in and around us in the league who are young (ish) and want to progress a wee bit with us before potentially landing a big move in a year or two.

  9. I felt Vigurs was hugely culpable to our relegation, he seemed to consistently let players run off him and offered little movement to the players on the ball. However the 2nd half of the season playing as the main man in the middle of the park, taking the ball from the defence and retaining possession in tight areas as well as playing passes between the lines to doran and polworth saw us finish the season in great form. He was integral and will be missed. I am disappointed he is leaving but I am not devastated as it wasnt a surprise. I have been lacking in players to dislike with County, so at least I can focus some resentment towards Vigurs now. Its petty, but its what makes football fun!

  10. I agree about Polworth being very different to Vigurs. Vigurs has been outstanding this season but it has to be said that we haven't missed him too much when he hasn't played. He was suspended when we played the crunch match against in form Dunfermline and 2nd placed Livingston. We were very unlucky not to beat the Pars and we did beat Livingston. Trafford seems to be the most similar to Vigurs and had a very good game against Dunfermline. He seems to have a good understanding with Chalmers which protects the defence and provides a bit more freedom for Polworth to drive forward. So whilst we are not going to replace Vigurs with an individual of the same calibre (at the moment) the way we play and the way other players work together means we can still have a very effective midfield. One thing that was evident prior to this season was that when we had a theoretically high quality midfield with Vigurs, Draper and Tansey, they didn't work particularly well together and the team as a whole lacked width. It's not who you've got that matters, it's what you do with who you've got. Robbo's been pretty good at getting the best out of a relatively young and inexperienced squad and I'm sure he will do the same again next season.

  11. Very fair comment, caleyboy. I would imagine, for instance, that any "full time" footballer who was so inclined would have plenty of time to study at the Open University. Similarly, there are plenty of footballers who, if they haven't gone into football related employment post-retiral, have "got on their bikes" and found themselves other careers. Employment patters these days in any case are such that people migrate from job to job more frequently than they used to. To some extent, this is another instance of footballers being pandered to and the root cause of that is the game's institutionalised practice of looking after them in one way or another to an extent which far exceeds their market value. For instance, in the Scottish Premiership (very large ballpark) there are guys getting paid £50,000 a year and fairly well above that for an absolute maximum of around 45 appearances of 90 minutes in front of crowds in the region of 3-5000. That's the economics of the madhouse. I do appreciate that the intention of this thread was probably to look at ways of incentivising players to come to a remote region which puts many of them off, but I do think there's a limit to the extent to which they can be indulged.

  12. To be fair the same may be applicable in reverse. There was an opportunity for those who wished to vote against the board to make public their thoughts but none were forthcoming. I just hope that those who voted will be standing for election next month

  13. Players approaching the end of their career, regardless of how the playing career panned out must get worried about how to bring in a wage as they approach their 30s. We have a recruitment problem because of our geographical location. Imagine ICT having a framework agreement with local businesses that looks to offer a re-training option at the end of their career with a 3 year temporary contract in the 'non-football' career. The risk of injury prone players could be mitigated by stipulating conditions in contracts that enable 'early retirement' from football. Benefits for ICT; Higher caliber players with proven football capability are brought in. No obligation to honor long contracts while players are injured. Better on the park performance. Good PR. Enhanced ticket sales. Benefits for employers; Cheaper labor than in the market currently signed up for longer terms (i.e. lower long term salary than recruited in the market, by capping salary for example). PR boost from the name association. Loyalty of ex playing-staff brought on from a 'second chance' after football. Benefits for the community; High caliber individuals moving to Inverness, probably family orientated with stability in mind. Benefits for players; 3 year rolling playing contract with security and re-training, followed by a 3 year deal with a business. That is 6 years of family stability. Surely our board and high-profile associates could set up this initiative? It takes a leading Commercial Manager to establish and enable such means. Try it with one player, why not? This is not a novel idea as it has been proven to work elsewhere...over the bridge for example. Jobs for the boys....

  15. ? Only a lawyer could find themselves "in concurrence with" what they would presumably also refer to as "another party"! But to remain with Rangers...... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-44126217 ....presumably any queries about how many titles they've won should also be referred to the Liquidators?

  18. Thanks for bringing this up .... Working on it .... but got a few distractions in the real world right now. It will be back up and running as soon as I can devote time to it over the next few weeks. For this issue the problem is basically PHP related. The fixtures/stats side of things needs to be an older version of PHP and the site is now running on PHP7. We need to pull this through slightly differently to get it to work but its in hand. Ahead of that we also need to make sure the GDPR stuff is in place, and as we are now on the latest version of the software I have a lot of other tweaks to do (cosmetic mainly, not to the structure of the site) If you notice anything else not working - add it in here and I will add it to the list. I will be going through every page so should catch most of it hopefully.

  19. i have always believed that the club should have an educational connection so these kids continue education to the level they are capable of. too many are left on the scrap heap at an early age. cleaning boots etc does not stimulate any mind and they need spmething else in addition to training.

  20. Agree with what you say on Charlie Christie as it's about time he started to justify at least one of the salaries he gets from being at Caley Thistle. It should also be noted that credit for the development of these young players should go to Fiona and Ronnie who do all the work.

  21. Well NO surprise that it has gone to re-election. Hopefully there are a number of interested candidates next month to consider. If ever there was a time that we needed a strong, committed representation then it is NOW. There are a number of worthy candidates from the previous board and hopefully they will be strengthened by as many newbies as possible. But lets hope that the blend of old and new gel quickly and any lingering, personal beefs are put aside.

  22. Disappointed to see Vigurs leave, as he was our best player this season. Yes, he talked or fouled himself into trouble at times, but a lot of the stick he took from fans was undeserved and he became a marked man by some opponents and referees (possibly his own fault). Despite where he is going, he goes with my best wishes. Looking forward, I hope we retain Polworth, and agree that Trafford will become a key player for us. It is good to have three new players in by mid May, so we will hopefully kick off in July with a squad who have blended and we hit the ground running when the league starts, hopefully having secured qualification in the Betfred Cup by then. I still feel positive at our potential for next season and am looking forward to it starting. I am going to renew my season ticket on Friday.

  23. A couple of seasons ago, it would be unthinkable to have a midfield without Draper and Tansey in it, but it happened, they moved on, and someone else stepped up to fill those berths, and now Vigurs has moved on and someone will step into his boots and fill the void. I would have loved Vigurs to stay, but at his age it will be his last big pay day, increased wages and probably a good signing on fee are not to be sniffed at. Our style of play might alter to fit the new players, but we have played in many different styles over the years.

  24. looks like County are gonna be gearing up for an instant return which we should have done last season with the parachute payment instead of been whipping boys for half the season! And signing several players who'd struggle to get a game for clach!

  25. Vigurs was the best footballer at the club by a country mile but he was also very undisciplined and he is getting less fitter and slower season by season. He was dependent on people around him - especially Polworth. If I was a manager facing him I would be pressing in his face and I reckon that he would blow. I suspect that he will also point to the boo boys who gave him some terrible stick. I hope that they do not now look to Polworth. To me he is the clear successor to Vigurs.

  26. Mcgregor spent millions this year, don't see it helping them stay in the premier league? Vigurs went for money, he is a good footballer but we can get on without him.

  29. I truly despair at folk on here's views of Vigurs. He is a superb footballer and will be a huge loss to us - anyone who thinks otherwise clearly doesn't really get football at all. More worryingly this appears to be a very visible attempt by our neighbours to lay down a marker for next season and beyond. A much as I enjoyed their demise on Saturday I fear they will be going large on an immediate return to the Premiership. We appear to be shopping at Aldi and they are clearly intent on melting their plastic in M&S.

  30. Mulraney has over the last 2 years unfortunately failed to improve, when the Premiership may have been to high a level he hasn't lit up the Championship either. Blistering pace but lack of final product lets him down. Might be a coup for Hearts if they can introduce technical skills and worth the gamble at their level - pace isn't something you can teach but technique is, its whether he has the temperament to learn it. From what we've seen the money may be better used elsewhere. Vigurs has patchy form but over the tail end of the season did show that he is an asset, but if the decision comes down to money then we cant compete with RC and as an individual he has to do his best for his family. He's not a player that cant be replaced and I think given time Trafford may be the man who steps into those shoes. The biggest loss this summer (so far) but we should still be able to progress over last season. Those citing Polly to leave then its not a huge loss. He's had a significant number of games over the years and at times looks lost on the park. While capable of lighting up games it doesn't happen often enough, perhaps we need to find him a position that suits him. I'm not sure he's a central mid as he doesn't track back so its whether he would be better further forwards as a number 10 but then does that suit our formation. We have given him much more game time than any other youngsters over the last 5 years and I'm not sure he is delivering on the early promise - he needs to step up more and show his real ability otherwise he will end up spending much of his career jobbing along like many Scottish players in the Championship.

  31. Very disappointed to see Vigurs leave, he has been outstanding this season. Of course the "fans" who constantly shouted abuse at him in the first half of the season will be happy now and can turn their rancid hatred back to Polworth who will no doubt follow......

  34. He financed a hugely expensive team of duds, including managers last season, that gained less points than we did under a complete failure rookie manager. Its not all about finance and I seriously doubt Ketts and Fergs will get it right at the first time of asking

  35. Good for him in some respects. He is a County fan and a member of the Ross Shire community and puts his money where his mouth is. Our job is to show him and County that money isn't everything and with team spirit, sound coaching and vocal backing from the stands we are capable of getting promoted on much more meagre resources.

    • Dundee United 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Hopes amongst the Caley Jags support were at rock bottom ahead of this one with the threat of relegation looming large. With all hands to the pumps, Shaw, Boyes and Ujdur were brought back into the squad whilst not really 100% fit. Shaw started as did Pepple and Boyes with Billy Mckay, Lawal and Danny Devine dropping to the bench. Cammy Harper was given the Captain's armband today. It's a daunting task going to the lions den to face title favourites but underdog is our preferred tag. Anyway, 252 of them turned up at Tannadice in eternal hope and Duffy heightened the intensity only for Louis Moult to level things up. That's how it ended, a result we would have bitten your hand off before kick off.

    • Inverness CT 1-2 Ayr United - Report
Having sat through one of the worst games for many a year there is little to hope for now apart from Arbroath to keep losing because we certainly appear to find it difficult to win. We have no game changers in our squad and our manager is playing the wrong type of anti-football to help our cause. Big Dunc thought we were the better team. Pleeeeeaaase, give me a break! We were second to everything and Ayr were always one step ahead of us after the first three minutes. SHOCKER springs to mind.

    • Inverness CT 0-0 Airdrieonians - Report
These two sides looked as though they could play for the whole of March without scoring. In terms of opportunities, the hosts probably shaded it, but when we did miss the first defender, crosses invariably went behind the incoming strikers. On the one occasion we got on the end of the ball Billy Mckay's flicked header was cleared away from goal by Kanayo Megwa.
Not the worst 0-0 draw ever, but scoring opportunities were at a premium. Neither keeper was overly troubled and this game had scoreless written all over it given the evidence of the first twenty minutes.

    • Inverness CT -V- Airdrieonians - Preview
Promoted Airdrie are sitting in fifth place in the table, just below the play-off places with former Caley Jag Nikolay Todorov getting amongst the goals and he will provide a big test for our central defence. We have found Airdrie a difficult proposition at times this season but we did win the last home encounter against them.

    • Morton 0-2 Inverness CT - Report
What a start for Inverness and Billy Mckay, who answered his abusers from last week by opening the scoring in the second minute, firing into the top corner after an assist from Cammy Harper. Robbie Muirhead looked to respond but Mark Ridgers was equal to his effort in the fifth minute. Ten minutes before the interval Sean McAllister curled in a low free kick from the edge of the box to double our advantage and open his scoring account at Inverness. Plenty of bookings but no further scoring saw Inverness pick up a vital three points in the relegation battle although we still remain in ninth spot but only two points from Dunfermline in fifth.
