  1. We remain 4th , but the gap to the top increases and the teams behind close in. No critisisim in the effort from ICT today, plenty of pressure & shots, but like the season so far, lack of clinical finishing!!!! Well done to the team today, but not for the first time this season, not good enough ?

  3. I really don't know how we lost that. We recovered from going behind, and were the better team for the last hour. I can't fault the players for effort, and we came very close a couple of times, particularly through Walsh and McCart. I thought Walsh had an excellent game, closely followed by Polworth, Rooney and McCart, but all 11 played their part in what easily could have been a win. I don't agree about the substitutions. We were well on top, so not changing it was the right thing. That changed with the County goal. County fans I spoke to afterwards couldn't believe their luck. A disappointing end, but if we can maintain that effort and keep trying to play forward quickly, there is no reason why we cannot at least cement fourth place. Next week's game could be pivotal as it can let us pull clear a bit. I thought the ref lost control a bit when the smaller bust up took place in the first half between Donaldson and Lindsay, so no real surprise if all kicked off late on. Until I saw the photo above, I'd no idea Roooney was involved, but as half the players were, perhaps surprising there were only two reds.

  4. Walsh lacked composure? He was stand out for me ? and IMHO he terrorised their defence. I thought Draper was poor. But hey, that’s football, we all see things differently. Fact remains we dominated and came away defeated. If we could recreate the atmosphere from today at home, wouldn’t it be tremendous ?

  5. To be fair, I thought we played outstanding today. We dominated county, particularly in the second half. The fact their keeper got mom says it all. White's goal looked like a great finish and I thought he played with heart and passion and did his best to lift the crowd too. Any other day we would have scored 3 or 4. Had the finishing been better it could have been 5 or 6. Plenty of passion on display throughout the team. Think Rooney could face further trouble though. Looked like several punches were thrown. And more than 2 could have been sent off.

  7. Really pissed off with that result! I thought we were the better team, County robbed us big style, but no matter how good we are it's scoring goals that win games. This is unfortunatley the story if our season with missed chances caused by poor finishing and an alarming knack of shooting ourselves in the foot on a regular basis. Draper today had Polly in his pocket, Doran failed to ignite our attack and only Walsh looked creative but his final ball was quite often lacking composure. White managed to get us level but was guilty ( again) of poor ball control and missing a couple of chances that he should have put away. Next week is a crunch game and if we have any desire of reaching the top 4 we will need to win, a draw is fecking useless.

  8. As said so many times this season, our lack of finishing was our undoing again. Then County did a Dick Turpin on us to steal the three points they didn't deserve. Subs should have been on earlier to give fresh legs.

  9. I agree. We seem to save our best displays for County. If we can become consistent and play for 90 minutes every week it will make a big difference.

  10. We were the better team except where it came to the all important aspect of taking our chances. A regular theme and, unless we somehow manage to secure the services of a more clinical striker in the January window, is one likely to cost us our chances of promotion.

  11. OOPS ! Well that is disappointing. Not yet seen the video but it sounds as if there may be a lack of an ability to direct the ball accurately and near misses don't count I'm afraid. I was just reviewing Mantis's video of the Morton match and that's also the fact --too many reasonable chances over the bar or just plain not on target. The boys seem to be playing very well but truly the finishing needs a lot more work. e,.g Why so many balls too high and/or over the bar or, whether left or right, missed the goal completely. Maybe instilling a little more composure might work? I don't think it can be solely Robbo's fault but he should be making the boys practice shots on goal, definitely. And then practice ...and practice...…

  12. Thanks for explaining ? It doesn't matter how they're scored but playing a 5 man attack doesn't mean more goals. Tactics have always been important. A more natural attacking mid/forward would mean more goals than a poacher in a 4-2-3-1 system.

  13. Can’t disagree. Possession and heart very encouraging, but get the ball in the net. Graham is a dirty bar steward, his intent was clear from the minute the ball was played but tbf to Dallas had the red out immediately so no real need to get a man sent off. But nice to see a scrap at a derby too....??. Great atmosphere, great game just a ***** result.

  15. The aim of football is to score at least one or more goals than your opponents!!!!! It is the final part ( scoring) that has been and continues to be our issue. Lots of effort and enthusiasm from defence to midfield will not win games........ scoring ...... regardless of how, creates results ?

  18. I don't think it is finishing. It's the central attacking midfielder. ICT is converting midfielders to forwards. But that system works best when you have a forward that can drop back, like Foran or Sanchez in the past. David Platter was terrific at it as he was a converted attacker. Get someone behind White and the goals will go up.

  21. Derby Day No3 It's the Highland Derby up next where Inverness take on table topping Ross County at Dingwall on Saturday. Ross County climbed to the top of the table last week after beating PartickThistle 2-0 at the Global Energy Stadium. A penalty from Billy Mckay and a late Ross Stewart strike were enough to see off the struggling Glasgow side. Inverness went back into the top four after a narrow 1-2 win at Cappielow, only our fifth League win of the season. An early Tom Walsh goal and a second from Aaron Doran with a header should have opened the floodgates against ten man Morton. However, in typical Caley Jags style we were left hanging on a bit towards the end in a game we dominated earlier and had missed a penalty when Sean Welsh beat the keeper but smacked the post in the first half. So, all to play for in the Highland Derby. There has been two already this season and despite Inverness dominating most of the 180 minutes, both games ended in draws. The first one at Dingwall saw Inverness hold the upper hand for seventy minutes but County finished the game stronger although it ended goalless. The return at the Caledonian Stadium was a pulsating game where a rifled Jamie Lindsay shot opened the scoring. George Oakley drew Inverness level a couple of minutes later with a spectacular volley and Shaun Rooney stroked the Caley Jags back in front. However, fortune favours the brave and Billy Mckay chased a ball down the left before cutting across the bye-line. Unfortunately Brad Mckay thought he could clear it but only succeeded in knocking it behind Mark Ridgers. That all happened in the first half and there was no further scoring after the interval, although Liam Polworth should have done better than hit the post after being teed up by Aaron Doran. The game ended 2-2 and it was a great advert for football in the North. Inverness will be pretty much as they have been for the last few weeks with Jamie McCart successfully covering for the absent Carl Tremarco, although Carl will be included in the squad but is not match fit yet. It's a toss up between George Oakley and Jordan White as to who will lead the line, form seems to be favouring Oakley at the moment Liam Polworth has blossomed in these derby's and was instrumental in the win at Greenock last week. Mark Ridgers has been in tremendous form as well and could be a busy man on Saturday. County have Billy Mckay scoring again, even from the penalty spot, and he is always a handful around the box. Should he be fit, the enigma that is Iain Vigurs could hold the key to which side dominates the midfield. It all depends which one turns up, the silky skillful footballer, or the cynical hatchet man with the petulant attitude. We saw both sides of Vigurs when he played for Inverness. He has a foot injury and may not be available. The other one to cause concern is Michael Gardyne who is also recovering from injury and can cause havoc when running at a defence. Like Tremarco, he might not be fully fit either. It would be a brave man to call this one. County would have to be seen as favourites given the home ground and the wealth of talent at their disposal. Inverness by comparison are being run on a shoe string with barely enough players to fill the bench. However, a draw might be the most likely outcome after witnessing the first two games where Inverness held their own and more. 22. Aye, Brazilian lad in the U18s. Which is more or less our reserve team, as about a dozen of the "Class of 2018" are still contracted to them as well as the senior squad.

  23. With reports that Carl Tremarco is back n the squad, any thoughts on tomorrow's team? I like McCart but he is best in the centre, and he and Donaldson could well be our best pairing. But is tomorrow a day to experiment? If Carl is not fully fit, I suspect an unchanged team. What is the story with Austin? He rarely appears off the bench, despite our lack of experienced players. Anything going in behind the scenes, or is he not fully fit. If Carl is fit, my pick is: Ridgers Rooney Donaldson McCart Tremarco Welsh Chalmers Doran Polworth Walsh Oakley

  27. Hope you enjoy the game. Could be a corker. And a win for ICT would. be the icing on the cake wouldn't it? Today I had a talk with one of the Maple Ridge, British Columbia, major City Officials when he came over to my house to discuss a couple of complaints I had about the damage Yobbos have been inflicting on cars as they enter and come down this street because it is a shortcut for them. We had a successful meeting and a new firm friendship has been established. Which is not surprising since his name is Frank Quinn and he is of Irish background and likes football and he knows quite a lot about our team Inverness Caledonian Thistle which surprised and delighted me. It's amazing what you learn and can achieve by talking openly to people.

  28. ...in games obviously. Best not to start him in the festive derby game, or even bring him on chasing the game if we're a couple down. Don't think he's the type to hold back in a 50/50 which could easily end up with him out for longer.

  31. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1301170333364243&id=143233165824638 Not sure if the link will work or not, but here's CCTV footage of the incident. Once again, I still don't approve of his actions, but the media didn't report anything about her almost knocking him down, flooring it into the back of his car, or multiple opportunities to speed out of the car park and call the police...rather it reporting that he had leaped out of the car and started clobbering her because of a small bump. But she is certainly not 100% innocent in this story. Wholly, his sacking is justifiable, and I do apologise for any offence in my previous post on this thread, as when I had posted that, the reports seemed rather light and not handing enough evidence.

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.

    • Inverness CT -V- Arbroath - Preview
It's Now or Never: That's what Elvis used to say. We are in deep trouble up to our necks with no signs that we can turn this around. Defeat to Arbroath could be the final nail in our coffin with only fifteen points available to us ahead of this game. The play-offs are looking more likely by the minute, but it's not beyond the realms of possibilty that automatic relegation is still an option should Arbroath beat us on Saturday. With the long suffering fans rapidly losing faith in Big Dunc, it's crunch time as Arbroath head North to the venue they won at the last time they were here. Sadly they come to the Caledonian Stadium off the back of a 2-1 midweek defeat to Airdrie, and we could all but relegate them on Saturday with a win. However, that's nothing to gloat about as we could be next...

    • Partick 1-0 Inverness CT - Report
Big Trouble Down the Dump: Billy Mckay was back in the starting XI along with Samson Lawal with Pepple dropping to the bench and Shaw out for the season. Both teams had seven on the bench with Roddy MacGregor getting a rare seat. Scott Robinson scored the only goal of the game just before the break. Inverness were reduced to ten men when Cammy Kerr was sent off just after an hour. Despite creating more opportunities, the points just evaded us.

      Meh!
