  1. We are creating quite a lot. In the last 10 games we are averaging over 12 shots at goal a game. I doubt we have had many periods in our history when we have had more. It 's a reflection of a team that is looking to get forward and play attractive forward. I accept we have missed a few chances that should have been taken, but in the last 3 games we have had a bit of bad luck. Fox was MOTM against County and the woodwork came to the aid both of Queens and Ayr. With a little more luck and confidence/composure in front of goal we could be turning a few more of these chances into goals. We are not far from being a pretty good side.

  2. Are you suggesting Polworth has provided 66% of the assists this season? According to the BBC stats for league games he has provided 7 assists which is 26%. It is still a very decent contribution but as he takes many of the set pieces he does have a bit of an advantage over others. Tom Walsh has had 6 assists with 90 minutes less game time and has scored 5 goals to Polworth's one, so it looks as though we already have a midfielder contributing more to the team. There is no excuse for the abuse Polworth has received but there is no doubt that he is hugely frustrating to watch. He does some great stuff at times but then gives the ball away needlessly and seems to go awol for short spells. Having emerged in the shadow of Draper, Tansey and Vigurs, he's had a real opportunity this season to impose himself on matches as the established, experienced midfielder in the side. He's not really done that, and whilst on balance I would rather have him in the side than not, I don't think his departure will significantly weaken the side. It is strange that some folk seem to think Polworth, with 1 goal and 7 assists in 1760 minutes of football is an indispensable member of the side, yet White, with 6 goals and 1 assist in 1178 minutes on the park, is "gash". It is really disappointing that Polworth has not realised the promise that he showed from such an early age but there are other players in the side who seem to be developing and maturing faster than him. In addition, there are very promising youngsters coming through the ranks who hopefully will have more of the Ryan Christie mindset than the Liam Polworth one. It is not so much a question of Polworth leaving a hole to fill, it is more a question of others squeezing him out of it.

  3. Cheap shot, nothing wrong with White's scoring record at any of his professional clubs including ours, he's not van Basten but we are not Milan. Give the guy a break.

  4. Shouldn't disrespect the opposition Alan, if the players go out with that attitude it wont end well, I expect EK to be well organised and if we get sloppy they will score. I think it will be tighter than you think.

  5. prolific strikers cost too much so i think we are probably getting very good value for what we are paying.

  6. Maybe, and even if it was in fun am fed up with people making White the butt of jokes on here, am pretty sure he reads this forum too, the guy has an excellent scoring ratio at the standard he has played at so far, cut him some slack, put yourself in his shoes or boots in this case.

  7. Good points, I loved watching Pele's teams for attacking football though he never achieved promotion to the prem I would settle for having those teams back again, very entertaining, with good players and the odd cup shock thrown in, don't know what the average attendance was during his tenure but it was great entertainment which is what football is about..

  8. The referee also helped queens not seeing the goal we never got after it hit off the underside of the cross bar and bounced back out after crossing the goal line.

  9. Depends on the circumstances really. If a player was playing for a team who got relegated and scored ten goals then that might be a great return, if he scored ten goals for a team who won the title then that might not be so good. You also have to look at how effective players are, what you are expecting of them. For example, Graham Bayne played four seasons for us and scored 6 goals in 32 (6), 2 goals in 8(9), 6 in 29(9) and 1 in 9(17). Not a great record in terms of percentages but he was a target man, who took in long passes, acted as an outball and worked extremely hard - he was a great player for us. But 15 goals in 100 odd appearances sounds terrible. Then you have a guy like Paul Ritchie, who banged in goals all the time but wasn't really someone who worked as hard as Bayne. If he had a goalscoring record like bayne we'd probably have dropped him because he wouldn't have been doing anything. Thankfully he never stopped scoring. The chances of getting a player who can make really positive contributions to your team scoring goals in January are very slim. We signed Nathan Austin last Jan but he was available because he'd been so injury prone at Falkirk. That's what you have to do - take chances on players who other teams might not want, for whatever reason.

  11. The sort of complacency that saw both Thistle and Caley take many a league scalp when we were in the Highland League. A cup run would be a great boost to the fans, the players and, perhaps most importantly, the coffers. We are in no position to take anyone for granted.

  12. He may not have achieved promotion to the then SPL but the team that achieved that was largely assembled by him and played with an ethos and team spirit installed by him.

  18. I think Polworth is a very good player and has had lots of assists, he will certainly be missed when he goes. Wish him well whatever happens.

  20. So it’s because people moan at him that he’ll be leaving? Surely if a bigger team comes in anybody would be off. Being nice to Shinnie didn’t stop him furthering his career.

  22. Another decent and positive performance from us. Good to see fine performances from players who have come in for a bit of stick this season. Despite the criticism White has been getting from some quarters, I think he could become a really important player for us. I thought he did well last week but he was even better yesterday. His work rate is excellent and he showed some great touches in build up play. He gets himself in position to score which is why, despite some bad misses over the season, his goal tally is steadily rising. Chalmers is another intelligent and underestimated player. He was a bit more positive yesterday and that certainly benefited the team. Doran also maybe had his best game of the season and was unlucky not to score. It was good to see him taking defenders on and looking to shoot. He put in a really good shift. McHattie looks like a decent signing. Game management was much better this week after we got into the lead. Clearly Ayr had to push forward more but we didn't sit deep yesterday and managed to limit the amount of ball they had. We now need to get players back from suspension, injury and illness and ensure we make it through to the next round of the cup on Saturday. We will need to be very professional to ensure we get through. East Kilbride are on a decent run of form. Last weekend's results in the FA cup make it clear how easily upsets can occur with Barnet winning Away at Sheffield United - an away victory for a non-league side against Championship opposition. We don't want that repeated North of the Border.

  23. If the Board of ICT think that changing horses in mid-stream is not a good idea then "Sit tight and pray" may be the answer this season. All newer Managers need to be given time to "bed-in" and really get a grip on their player roster, and the actual state of the financial picture re the club, before they make a dynamic (and possibly costly) move. Oh, and loyalty should surely play a part in any well-run organisation ? People need time to weather storms , bed-in, invest and try out new ideas. With the apparent lack of money available at ICT these days surely the best strategy is to sit-tight, back the Manager and spend wisely rather than in desperate fashion. And no more contracts like that made available to Richie Foran who was a great player but apparently had little or no experience in Management whereas John Robertson does. JR is also calmer and more of a thinker than I believe R F was. Stay the course appears to be the best strategy for ICT at this time . But they must bring on the dancing girls, or SOMETHING , at half time !!!!!!! -----because this is ENTERTAINMENT folks and if they want more fans to come to games then they must cater to families and bored bodies freezing on the terracing. EVEN Summer football would be an advancement. Standing in freezing weather and chittering is never going to be a recipe for success.---- IMHO at least.

  24. No he isn't. He has the potential to be very good but is way too inconsistent week to week and does have an attitude problem at times. How many times has Polworth made good surging runs only to delay passing to men in space or give the ball away. He can be lazy as well not tracking back when required and frequently blames his team mates when passes/things go wrong. Don't get me wrong, I would rather have him in our squad but our best player, on this season's form, he certainly isn't and that's by a country mile as well. We certainly haven't missed Yogi either and other clubs don't seem to think he is up to much either. Given that he is a pundit on midweek Sportsound, that sums up his level of ability.

  28. The title of the thread is well put.... If he was consistently accurate and consistently committed and scoring we wouldn't be discussing this. But he isn't and we are. Good player but always in Christies shadow - now he's had his chance to pull the strings but hasn't fulfilled the promise like Ryan did. Maybe he'll get his mojo back playing with a more mobile midfield. Good luck to him. We move on.

  29. Wherever he ends up it will be ICT's loss, all down to these idiotic 'boo boys' who have been on his case for years. No doubt they have already decided who to target next.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.
