  1. Sadly, taking out league form into the cup in that regard. The positives are that, for the fourth time this season, we matched our wealthier neighbours and are still in the cup with a winnable quarter final in prospect if we prevail. However, in order for that to be a realistic prospect, Robbo has to realise at long last that we are not good enough to defend a lead no matter how many defensive substitutions he makes. The only way for us to defend a lead is to continue to do what earned us the lead in the first place.

  3. Defence looked worse once Col went off and McKay went to centre half, was always a case of trying to hang on after that enforced change. Cant believe we don’t have the guile and savvy to see a game out, not a bunch of kids we have playing.

  5. Personally I rather like this thread. One of the great things about this site is that there can be a large number of different threads running at the same time under each of a number of general headings. It is therefore easy to locate what you are interested in and ignore what does not interest you. It also means that threads can generally stay more or less "on topic" although inevitably they do go off topic from time to time and particularly when someone mentions the "Y" word. Having a thread specifically on Yogi means that anyone who wants to have their say on him can do so with detracting from the subject of some other thread. Anyone who is bored by the debate can simply ignore the thread. I'm all for looking forward - it's the reason I put myself forward for the Supporters Trust Board - but there is absolutely nothing wrong in looking back too. Indeed I would argue that looking back and learning from the past is essential if you want to be successful in moving forward. I think it is quite instructive to have a debate on Yogi's impact on the club because there is little doubt in my mind that opinions on him serve to illustrate what different people want from the team and how they view things differently. Just because we have different views on things doesn't mean the discussion has to be divisive. It is a fact that we had our greatest success in all 3 major competitions under his stewardship and for some that seems to be enough to give him club legend status. Others will argue that there were other factors which led to the success and he was lucky to be in the right place at the right time, and that given where we were when he took over, we should have achieved far more in the previous season. Some folk rave about the style of football he got the team playing whilst others felt it was the most boring football we've ever played. Some argue that had Yogi been given a bigger budget he would have delivered more success, whilst others point out that he had a bigger budget than any previous manager and argue that his failure to recruit better players is what started the rot. We probably all agree that Foran was a disaster, but the fact that we have such a polarised opinion on Hughes is fascinating. On another thread someone wrote that in order to bring in better crowds we simply need to offer a better product on the pitch. What the debate on Yogi demonstrates is that it is not that simple because people disagree about the style of football they want to watch.

  6. Seemed to me that having the extra man in midfield was a masterstroke by Robbo because County were not getting service to Gardyne or McKay. Is that something new or does he do that in all games because, if not, then he certainly should because it worked at least for 45 minutes. For me, Tremarco was man of the match because he was excellent tonight, Ridgers handling was great plus he made a great save just before half time. I just wish we could hold on to a bloody lead because it's becoming ridiculous now!

  7. We were on the ropes for a while before we scored the 2nd, looking leggy while county still had plenty of running. Are we fit enough to last 90 minutes these days??

  8. What on earth was our back 4 doing farting about on the half way line in injury time? Terrible defending. I'd imagine Chalmers will also be getting an earful for wasting possession just before that with a ridiculous pot shot from 30 yards.

  9. I was going to go for Tremarco but I will give it to Michael Gardyne who did feck all in the second half. REPLAY ? BBC Dingwall NEXT FECKIN MONDAY !!

  11. Definately aimed at the great and good of Inverness unfortunately, £120 way to expensive for the avarage supporter. Been offered to selected groups and businesses, obviously not sold out to them so being offered to us, 3 weeks before.

  12. Way too pricey at 120 squid. 80 is a more reasonable price and would result in a better turnout...

  14. I've spoken to a few local businesses and they certainly didn't get any early invites. I'm afraid this looks like a classic case of th eclub trying to do something right and ending up scoring a bit of an OG. £120 a skull is brutal - they need to be a bit more specific with what you are getting for your cash but as Fraz stated, if you take your Mrs you are £240 before you have had a beer at £5 a pint. Hefty... I just think it seems quite poorly organised - the 25 year anniversary can't have been a surprise?

  15. I never thought we had so many fans that genuinely believe that winning a Scottish Cup isnt actually a real achievement and think the manager doesn't deserve recognition for that. Regardless of what fans think and the high regard they have for Pele and Robbo the facts are Yogi has SC winners on his CV and these guys dont. Perhaps its a sign of the Football Manager generation who think that if they can win the CL with ICT then in real life its that easy too!!!!

  16. Go on a trip to get all the finals players to sign it, then give it to the club.

  18. Simple answer is improve the quality on the pitch, it's not rocket science. There will always be a hard core element of fans who'll go no matter what, then you get the element who on the whole will go if they haven't got anything else planned then you have the rest who will go when the team plays well. Happens at every club in proportion and will always continue that way. I fall into the middle category where life dictates when I can go and this season has slipped away from me but I'd love to go to more. No amount of match day entertainment or better facilities will change that for me and I believe that the increased costs involved for putting on this type of activity outweighs the benefits through the turnstile.

  19. Maybe not peanuts but defo not enough to replace the Calibre of players we lost and still would've been the lowest budget in the spl! Dunno if he did engineer his departure spoke to yogi a few times he seemed to proper enjoy living up here who mos tho! Ye your right most fans were shocked at forans appointment would've been a good assistant manager Richie!

  21. Football is an entertainment business. If you don't get entertained you don't go back. This is the problem we spent nearly half our existence in the top flight. We got entertained folk turned out to watch the bigger clubs like the old firm, Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts etc come to the TCS. playing alloa greenock Morton etc on a cold icy windy Saturday afternoon down the TCS doesn't gave the same appeal. Hearts, Hibs and Rangers all lots thousands of attendees to matches when they were in the lower leagues we are no different. The product to be entertained is not there it's as simple as that.

  22. Perhaps, but the world has moved on from kids wanting to kick about in the park and follow football teams - sit in the cold drinking watered down luke warm tea and stale pies. We now have a society and generation where multimedia and technology is all the rage, kids have opportunities and access for pursuits that most of us would never have had. Its not just football support that is suffering, its anything that involves leaving the house and human interaction - shops, restaurants, theatre, cinema - people can do this from in their own homes and kids are at the forefront of this. Unfortunately what football has to offer generally may not be what people want anymore plus football is a hard sell - at clubs like ICT even more so than 'big clubs' - its all been discussed before - location, costs, weather. catering, entertainment etc etc. Facts are there's almost an infinite amount of 'better' ways to spend £30 on a Saturday afternoon. Clubs need to understand that society is changing and have marketing/media/social media managers who know how to reach the public and youth if not they will get left behind and forgotten and for all the money ICT have spent on a communications & marketing manager we are awful at it.

  23. It was the perfect storm, a manager with an idea, gets given a team with plenty work ethic and no little talent - fairy tale stuff, but when it came to replacing the personnel which success moved on to brighter & better things ...he sucked like a 10 bob hooker, even with the record amounts of cash he was demanding off the board (and wasting). He was a success but ultimately he was a failure, as he was before and has been since. So long john and thanks for all the fish. "It was the best team he ever inherited" Satan, 2019.?

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.

It's Now or Never: That's what Elvis used to say. We are in deep trouble up to our necks with no signs that we can turn this around. Defeat to Arbroath could be the final nail in our coffin with only fifteen points available to us ahead of this game. The play-offs are looking more likely by the minute, but it's not beyond the realms of possibilty that automatic relegation is still an option should Arbroath beat us on Saturday. With the long suffering fans rapidly losing faith in Big Dunc, it's crunch time as Arbroath head North to the venue they won at the last time they were here. Sadly they come to the Caledonian Stadium off the back of a 2-1 midweek defeat to Airdrie, and we could all but relegate them on Saturday with a win. However, that's nothing to gloat about as we could be next...

    • Partick 1-0 Inverness CT - Report
Big Trouble Down the Dump: Billy Mckay was back in the starting XI along with Samson Lawal with Pepple dropping to the bench and Shaw out for the season. Both teams had seven on the bench with Roddy MacGregor getting a rare seat. Scott Robinson scored the only goal of the game just before the break. Inverness were reduced to ten men when Cammy Kerr was sent off just after an hour. Despite creating more opportunities, the points just evaded us.

      Meh!
