Great result and pleasing to get 3 goals and a two goal cushion to take into second leg. Very good performances from Trafford and White who seem to get lots of critics on here, but for those of us who were there last night it would only be plaudits Stand out performances from both players . Ridgers also made some very good saves but it would have been an injustice if we hadn’t taken a two goal lead back home as we were by far the better team overall. Big White showed he can take pens in a pressure situation as he has now done it in the shoot out v Ross County and last night in another . This was as good a pen as you will see in another pressure situation and as Meatloaf would say ‘Two out of three ain’t bad’ Trafford was superb in the middle of the pitch and scored a great header too. It was a great old fashioned cup tie atmosphere and our fans added to this by really getting behind the team. One of the best games of the season imo. It was up there with Tannadice in the cup game and as we have proved by winning the away league ,the away games are where we seem to galvanise our best performances.as we seem to be at our best away from home, Maybe it’s becuse teams have to come out against us more away from home but sit in at home . We will see if this is the case on Saturday as Ayr will have to give it a real go so we should win again .or maybe the backing of the fans way from home helps too. I have a feeling it’s a bit of both and I’m so glad I can manage to get to most games County away in all games have been great performance Whi can forget coming back from three goals down at Palmerston , or the last gasp goal at Tannadice and last night to add to the list . This squad for all its limitations has a grit and determination about it and as it stands to be on the cusp of a playoff semi final , finish third in league and be in Scottish Cup semi final all adds up to a very good season. John Robertson deserves a lot of praise and if we go up he is my manager of the season. No matters what happens in next few weeks The management and team are worthy of praise as we have over achieved when you look at budgets as by all accounts County .Arabs. Partick,Falkirk and Dunfermline all had bigger budgets than ourselves . Well done to the team this morning and let’s hope we all get behind them on Saturday to get us over the line to playoff semi finals.6 points

I have to humbly come on here to eat my words. Jordans finish and subsequent penalty were excellent. He has come on as a player in a way I did not think he could. Trafford is another who I thought for a long time was a liability. Happy to be proved wrong by there recent contributions. As someone else said Ayr look incisive and could still be a handful. Not a done deal yet but a great first leg score4 points

Not too interested in outdoing County but it would be great to beat the system and be the first team finishing below second in the Championship to get through the heavily weighted and biased play offs and achieve promotion to the Premiership.3 points

I don't blame him to be fair. Penalty looks soft and White is probably just about offside but I'm happy to take some luck. We are owed it after incidents like the McMullan handball a few weeks back.3 points

Think we are forgetting the far side linesman had a far better view than anyone and he chose not to raise his flag. Think its cloae but cant be sure its offside.regardles sublime finish. Has been a while but two cracking goals to get his 16th of season Only 4 championship players with more goals in all competitions than our big traffic cone or donkey as some like to call him ? Decent season for Big Jordan White imo.2 points

Well said, it's a pity that some more of his critics don't give him the credit he has deserved for some time now.2 points

Graeme Shinnie has signed a pre contract agreement with Derby County. Must be terrible for the Dons and their fans to have their club captain poached my a larger wealthier club and to lose him for nothing at the end of his contract.2 points

Great result polish them of on Saturday bring on the Arabs then ! Good on the traffic cone another crucial brace!2 points

I was wondering about doing a fans guide re away matches? Could include home as well. Is this something that you think would be useful? If so Im happy to work on it over the close season.2 points

Great result! Well done to all involved! I see McCall griping about offside for our second and it not being a penalty. They will be fired up for Saturday so we need to stay focussed.2 points

Great result. Follow this up with a professional approach Saturday for the second game. Ayr now have to go for it so getting tactics right would help. Let's get down to Saturday's game in numbers and give the boys the backing they deserve.1 point

Great result last night. This makes us clear favourites to go through but we must be wary about complacency. Ayr only need to score first and it gets nervy from our perspective. There can be no better example of how to turn around a tie than Liverpool’s stunning performance last night. I am sure Robbo will ensure we don’t let that happen to us. Hopefully there will be a good crowd on Saturday to witness a great game.1 point

Wholeheartedly agree Gregor - the Championship is a killer league! Who would have thought last August that Falkirk and Queens would have ended up in the bottom two slots? Has to be marked as a good and successful season even if we don't end up getting over the finish line.1 point

Soft Pen? Maybe. Offside? Maybe. Do we deserve a break after some of the sh1t decisions we have had against us. Of course. No bus parking Saturday, let's go out and play our game and kill the tie off - sensibly! Was there another game on last night.......?1 point

Hopefully, will be useful next season for visits to the likes of Kilmarnock, Motherwell and Aberdeen.1 point

Brilliant result but bear in mind Ayr beat Dundee United 5-0 at Tannadice. Never ever underestimate the opposition.1 point

Love the way the BBC commentary team has had to change tack and acknowledge that there is another team as well as Ayr on the park.1 point

For both clubs, it seems there are fans who get more enjoyment from the failures of the other than their own success1 point

That's not what I said and you know it. People can still pay at the gate if they don't want to get into debt. As with other posters, I'm off to other threads.0 points

Dundee United 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
tm4tj posted an article in Reports 2023-24,
Hopes amongst the Caley Jags support were at rock bottom ahead of this one with the threat of relegation looming large. With all hands to the pumps, Shaw, Boyes and Ujdur were brought back into the squad whilst not really 100% fit. Shaw started as did Pepple and Boyes with Billy Mckay, Lawal and Danny Devine dropping to the bench. Cammy Harper was given the Captain's armband today. It's a daunting task going to the lions den to face title favourites but underdog is our preferred tag. Anyway, 252 of them turned up at Tannadice in eternal hope and Duffy heightened the intensity only for Louis Moult to level things up. That's how it ended, a result we would have bitten your hand off before kick off.-

Inverness CT 1-2 Ayr United - Report
tm4tj posted an article in Reports 2023-24,
Having sat through one of the worst games for many a year there is little to hope for now apart from Arbroath to keep losing because we certainly appear to find it difficult to win. We have no game changers in our squad and our manager is playing the wrong type of anti-football to help our cause. Big Dunc thought we were the better team. Pleeeeeaaase, give me a break! We were second to everything and Ayr were always one step ahead of us after the first three minutes. SHOCKER springs to mind.-

Inverness CT 0-0 Airdrieonians - Report
tm4tj posted an article in Reports 2023-24,
These two sides looked as though they could play for the whole of March without scoring. In terms of opportunities, the hosts probably shaded it, but when we did miss the first defender, crosses invariably went behind the incoming strikers. On the one occasion we got on the end of the ball Billy Mckay's flicked header was cleared away from goal by Kanayo Megwa.
Not the worst 0-0 draw ever, but scoring opportunities were at a premium. Neither keeper was overly troubled and this game had scoreless written all over it given the evidence of the first twenty minutes.-

Inverness CT -V- Airdrieonians - Preview
tm4tj posted an article in Previews 2023-24,
Promoted Airdrie are sitting in fifth place in the table, just below the play-off places with former Caley Jag Nikolay Todorov getting amongst the goals and he will provide a big test for our central defence. We have found Airdrie a difficult proposition at times this season but we did win the last home encounter against them.-

Morton 0-2 Inverness CT - Report
tm4tj posted an article in Reports 2023-24,
What a start for Inverness and Billy Mckay, who answered his abusers from last week by opening the scoring in the second minute, firing into the top corner after an assist from Cammy Harper. Robbie Muirhead looked to respond but Mark Ridgers was equal to his effort in the fifth minute. Ten minutes before the interval Sean McAllister curled in a low free kick from the edge of the box to double our advantage and open his scoring account at Inverness. Plenty of bookings but no further scoring saw Inverness pick up a vital three points in the relegation battle although we still remain in ninth spot but only two points from Dunfermline in fifth.-
