  1. I just hope the current board have learned from the previous mistakes and will keep working within our means which might involve some more of our youngsters being used in the first team.

  2. Ohhhh Hokey Cokey It's the Hokey Cokey season where we find out who will be given the task of taking us further and who will be plying their trade elsewhere. We will update this during the pre-season as and when we find out who is in and who is out So, third in the Championship, play off semi, Scottish Cup semi-final and we are still looking to improve. Who will be responsible to help us make a promotion push this season. Header image is a painting by local artist Sophie Robb Let's start at the top. JOHN ROBERTSON is still at the wheel after telling Dundee to do one. Full story HERE Who has left the building LIAM POLWORTH has left the building after he had signed a pre-contract agreement with Motherwell. At Inverness since he was eight, Liam played over 200 games scoring 13 times. He has had a phenomenal number of assists and that was his main attribute, being able to pick a pass. Unfortunately his final game for the Caley Jags will only be remembered for his red card against Dundee United in the play-off first leg. Good luck at Fir Park. JOE CHALMERS was involved in the worse kept secret of the season and makes the short trek over the bridge to Dingwall where the streets are apparently paved with gold. 96 appearances for Inverness and a stunning goal in the cup against the Arabs. NATHAN AUSTIN scored 13 goals in 48 appearances for the club and has joined the maroons at Hearts. Just to clarify, he takes a step down to join Kelty Hearts in the Lowland League where they finished runners up to East Kilbride. They play out of Central Park, Kelty (near Cowdenbeath) where former Rangers and Scotland International Barry Ferguson is their manager. Their average home attendance was 384 last season. He should feel at home then! OWAIN FON WILLIAMS remember him? He's the Welsh painter who has seen out the terms of his contract but has not played in goal for Inverness for over a year, in fact almost two. His contract has now expired and I believe he has upped his brushes and easel and moved on. House for sale, recently painted! It appears that Hamilton Accies are keen to sign the painter keeper. *** Paint has now dried on his Accies contract. He Is now registered @ New Douglas Park*** ANTHONY MCDONALD has returned to Hearts for now after his loan spell at Inverness ended. Anthony made 14 appearances for the Caley Jags and the promising midfielders superb solo goal at Cappielow was nominated for the SPFL goal of the month; his first senior goal and a thing of beauty it was. ANGUS BEITH has sadly left the game. Unable to fully recover from a hip injury forcing him to give up on what was a very promising career. All the best to Angus. ***LATEST RELEASE*** DARREN MCCAULEY has gone over the sea to Ireland. For some reason the club want to thank him for some mediocre performances and allowing him to travel back and fore whilst completing his University degree. Never lived up to his promise. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Who has signed on and is willing to play JAMES KEATINGS, 27, was our first signing announced before the play-offs. James is an exciting prospect having played at Hearts, Hibs and Hamilton where he accumulated 41 goals in total. James joins on a two year deal. DAVID CARSON is a tough tackling 23 year old Geordie midfielder joining from Morpeth Town where he was player of the year as well as Evo Stick East player of the year. He scored fourteen goals last season as Morpeth Town won promotion. It's a two year deal for David as well. Nikolay Todorov is a tall Bulgarian striker who has been at Hearts, Livingston, Queen of the South and Falkirk. He will provide competition for Jordan White for the target man position and is a former Bulgarian u21 international. It's a two year deal for Nikolay. James Vincent is one we know all about and the Scottish Cup hero has returned to Inverness on a two year deal to inject some box to box energy in an area where we have become somewhat pedantic. James has been at Dundee and Dunfermline since he last played for Inverness. Mitchell Curry has signed on loan for the season. He is a pacey 19 year old winger/forward and he has come on loan from Middlesbrough for the season with an option for Middlesbrough to recall him halfway. Signing on again are MARK RIDGERS (2021/2022), SEAN WELSH (2021/2022), KEVIN MCHATTIE (summer 2021), Daniel Hobban (1 year ext), Daniel MacKinnon (2 year ext). Of the first team regulars; COLL DONALDSON, Brad Mckay, Jamie McCart, Carl Tremarco, Charlie Trafford, Shaun Rooney, Darren McCauley, Aaron Doran, Tom Walsh, Jordan White are all still on the books at the moment. Youngsters Daniel Mackay, Roddy MacGregor and Cameron Harper have extended their contracts by another season. Matheus Machedo, the young Brazilian played in the pre-season friendly at Clach. Lastly, it's out with the old and in with the new as we turf the old playing surface in the bin. The pitch was dug up after the end of the season and the drainage will be improved before relaying the grass. Good to see some upgrades off the park as well as on it. We suffered at the hands of the weather this season and hopefully the improvement work on the drainage will see less games in danger. More info on this will appear on the OFFICIAL SITE Here are the 5 new signings and this is what they will be wearing on special occasions..........

  3. Wasn't Darren studying for a degree? He's maybe wanting to continue studying or to use his degree for a more secure long term future. Perhaps he didn't quite have the motivation required to succeed as a full time professional footballer and will be happier going part time. If he can enjoy his football whilst not having to rely on it to earn a crust, then good luck to the lad.

  4. Except Derry are probably a bigger club than us... Hardly "Lower League" when they've played in the Champions League 3 times and Europa League 5 times compared to our record of 0 and 1...

  5. There is merit in taking risks in any walk of life. Our big mistake was taking too many risks and making too many unrealistic assumptions in a very short period of time. After winning the Scottish Cup we should have been looking to consolidate rather than spending beyond our means in an attempt to reach even greater heights.

  6. I've heard so many versions of what the contractual arrangements were and why he wasn't playing that I am certainly not going to take any sides on this. What I do know is that he performed well for us when he did play, but after a shaky start, Mark Ridgers has been outstanding and has been 1st choice keeper on merit. It is also reasonable to assume that given Owain has turned down various offers in the past, the salary he was on here was better than he was being offered elsewhere, whether he was playing or not. It is difficult to attract decent offers if you are not actually playing and putting yourself in the shop window, and therefore I would suspect that he was getting quite a bit more than he was being offered elsewhere. I don't think there is any point conjecturing about his honesty or integrity. What is important is that the club learns from the mistakes of the past and we are not burdened with the consequences of contracts offered as a result of unrealistic expectations of future success. There is a difference between taking a calculated risk and being foolhardy.

  7. Would be a great idea to get some sort of link-up with Augsburg as part of the 25th Anniversary celebrations. I recall my cousin playing for an Inverness select against Celtic, Augsburg and a 4th club which escapes me (possibly Dunfermline) back in the early 80s in a 2 day tournament at the Bught Park. I'm sure I've still got the programme in my loft. Was always a bit puzzled why nothing more tangible ever came of the Augsburg connection. Seems like loads of towns and village in Moray and Buchan are twinned with German towns and the relationship seems much more active than ours is with Augsburg. Having said that the apathy I witnessed around our last international friendly against Antwerp would suggest there wouldn't be a huge level of interest. The Belgians took a very decent away support to Le Stade and probably out numbered those of us in the home end. Unfortunately I'm not convinced Augsburg would be much different.

  8. That's another reason that I like you Kingsmills- -you get straight to the point. Actuellement, when Owain came back he was , seemingly, jettisoned by the club and left on the sidelines. He is a good keeper (or was at least) and there was no reason for such an isolationist policy against a player who either made a mistake or should be praised for having the guts to try anther scenario abroad. No manager nor any club should attempt to control the life or destiny of any player UNLESS there is a signed contract in the boardroom of the club which he has either not kept to or abandoned or the other party to the deal was refusing to play him etc, etc. We don't know exactly how much he was paid before his departure and it says quite a lot for the player that when he decided to come back he came back to Caley Thistle, showing by that move alone that he cared for the club. He is not a criminal and yes, he may have made a mistake, by swanning off abroad like Dick Whittington to make his fortune but so what.? ..He was still able to kick a ball out of the goalie's area, was a very good keeper and the club should have put bygones behind them and encouraged him by playing him as frequently as possible. And IHE, spell out to me what other players would have done anything different to OFW re his actions to the money that came to him?

  12. Off topic I know but, while I appreciate the connections particularly with St Valery, I've often wondered why Inverness is twinned with one city so much bigger and one village so much smaller but with no town or city of broadly similar size.

  16. Well tell me any other players who have similiarly been self-centered and basically left the club in a lurch. Then look at those who left promptly when the clearout was necessitated. I thought that he did perform well for us but lets face it - he was picked for Wales because of the clubs performances defensively as much as it was about his international quality. He was basically a third placed bench warmer. His only Wales performance was when he came on for an injured Hennessey, against Holland, with 16 minutes to go. He came on when the score was 2-2. Holland won 3-2. He is a better painter than a custodian - especially with his dodgy leg.

    • Dundee United 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Hopes amongst the Caley Jags support were at rock bottom ahead of this one with the threat of relegation looming large. With all hands to the pumps, Shaw, Boyes and Ujdur were brought back into the squad whilst not really 100% fit. Shaw started as did Pepple and Boyes with Billy Mckay, Lawal and Danny Devine dropping to the bench. Cammy Harper was given the Captain's armband today. It's a daunting task going to the lions den to face title favourites but underdog is our preferred tag. Anyway, 252 of them turned up at Tannadice in eternal hope and Duffy heightened the intensity only for Louis Moult to level things up. That's how it ended, a result we would have bitten your hand off before kick off.

    • Inverness CT 1-2 Ayr United - Report
Having sat through one of the worst games for many a year there is little to hope for now apart from Arbroath to keep losing because we certainly appear to find it difficult to win. We have no game changers in our squad and our manager is playing the wrong type of anti-football to help our cause. Big Dunc thought we were the better team. Pleeeeeaaase, give me a break! We were second to everything and Ayr were always one step ahead of us after the first three minutes. SHOCKER springs to mind.

    • Inverness CT 0-0 Airdrieonians - Report
These two sides looked as though they could play for the whole of March without scoring. In terms of opportunities, the hosts probably shaded it, but when we did miss the first defender, crosses invariably went behind the incoming strikers. On the one occasion we got on the end of the ball Billy Mckay's flicked header was cleared away from goal by Kanayo Megwa.
Not the worst 0-0 draw ever, but scoring opportunities were at a premium. Neither keeper was overly troubled and this game had scoreless written all over it given the evidence of the first twenty minutes.

    • Inverness CT -V- Airdrieonians - Preview
Promoted Airdrie are sitting in fifth place in the table, just below the play-off places with former Caley Jag Nikolay Todorov getting amongst the goals and he will provide a big test for our central defence. We have found Airdrie a difficult proposition at times this season but we did win the last home encounter against them.

    • Morton 0-2 Inverness CT - Report
What a start for Inverness and Billy Mckay, who answered his abusers from last week by opening the scoring in the second minute, firing into the top corner after an assist from Cammy Harper. Robbie Muirhead looked to respond but Mark Ridgers was equal to his effort in the fifth minute. Ten minutes before the interval Sean McAllister curled in a low free kick from the edge of the box to double our advantage and open his scoring account at Inverness. Plenty of bookings but no further scoring saw Inverness pick up a vital three points in the relegation battle although we still remain in ninth spot but only two points from Dunfermline in fifth.
