  1. I’m just so happy I saw ICT in Romania - a wonderful few days, quite surreal and a never to be forgotten experience. The travel, the heat, the camaraderie, the stadium(!), the overkill armed police(!), the food, the drink (both so cheap!).

  2. Got this in our Facebook inbox .... feel free to drop some memories in here and/or send message to me for the email address & phone number if you want to talk to him directly. My own memory of the night is surprisingly clear ..... We had organised a bus from the Caley Inn to the first game that got postponed just as we turned onto London Road! One of my pals from work phoned me and told me before we heard it on the radio and I thought he was winding me up. We were devastated when we heard it was true but made the best of it with a few (friendly) pints in the Celtic club nearby! I also ran one of the buses for the Feb 8th game when these were provided to the club. Got interviewed on 5 Live after the game and just about managed to not swear (I think my word of the night was F...F..antastic!), then down to Glasgow that weekend for Off and On the ball sandwiched in between a limp defeat at Love Street. I have a weird coincidence surrounding this game too. Later that same year, I was visiting Toronto (before I moved here) and scored tickets for a pre-season ice hockey game involving the Toronto Maple Leafs ... got talking to the person sitting next to us at the hockey and it turns out they had been visiting Scotland at the time and had also been at that game with a Celtic supporting friend. Small world! I still have the 'Ballistic' newspaper in a frame on my wall next to a game worn shirt from that night, the program, and my ticket.

  3. That's an exceptionally selfish attitude. You're essentially asking other leagues to dilute the competitiveness of them just so teams higher up the food training can use them as a training exercise. If you have young players you want to see getting game time play them or loan them out.

  5. Not a good idea in my view. As for the Lowland League decision to allow 'them' in the back door I find shocking and kick in the nads to it's member teams.

  6. Yeah, Chelsea really suffered when he got the boot.

  7. Who knows. Maybe in another six years we will be appearing in cup finals and competing in Europe once again. The good thing about being a football fan is that, no matter how disappointing the season that has gone before has been, we start each new season full of hope and optimism.

  8. It would be good for us but terrible for the integrity of the Highland League. If I was the director of a Highland League club I would be very firmly opposed.

  11. The Challenge Cup only gets interesting when you get to the semis with the chance of a final. The League Cup only gets interesting at the quarter finals, when you have the chance of a semi final at a neutral venue and you are only 2 games away from a national final. The Scottish Cup is always interesting.

  12. We've had Peterhead once before in this competition in the current format (2019/20). Cowdenbeath and Raith are the sides we have faced with alarming frequency. The whole competition is garbage now and weighted heavily in favour of a top few sides in the Premiership. Between this and the way the Challenge Cup has been treated the SPFL have a lot to answer for with regards to the gradual decay of the cup competitions in this country.

  13. I was speaking to a neighbour tonight who works with someone with strong County connections, and asked me if we had announced Don Cowie’s appointment today. What he had picked up may turn out not to be the case. Sounds like we will know tomorrow morning. He also said that Mackay has not made a good first impression on the County squad.

  14. You didn't say you weren't in favour either, and by pointing out the benefits of the situation being applied to the highland league and the pluses for us County and Elgin it certainly seems as though you'd be receptive to the idea in the future. No different from the self important attitude of the OF. The fact that it has gained traction in the south at first is merely the thin end of the wedge.

  16. Racism is unacceptable in any form but has the guy not paid the price and maybe just maybe he should be allowed to get on with life? Uncle Roy is normally quite a good judge of character so he must be seeing something others don't.

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.

It's Now or Never: That's what Elvis used to say. We are in deep trouble up to our necks with no signs that we can turn this around. Defeat to Arbroath could be the final nail in our coffin with only fifteen points available to us ahead of this game. The play-offs are looking more likely by the minute, but it's not beyond the realms of possibilty that automatic relegation is still an option should Arbroath beat us on Saturday. With the long suffering fans rapidly losing faith in Big Dunc, it's crunch time as Arbroath head North to the venue they won at the last time they were here. Sadly they come to the Caledonian Stadium off the back of a 2-1 midweek defeat to Airdrie, and we could all but relegate them on Saturday with a win. However, that's nothing to gloat about as we could be next...

Big Trouble Down the Dump: Billy Mckay was back in the starting XI along with Samson Lawal with Pepple dropping to the bench and Shaw out for the season. Both teams had seven on the bench with Roddy MacGregor getting a rare seat. Scott Robinson scored the only goal of the game just before the break. Inverness were reduced to ten men when Cammy Kerr was sent off just after an hour. Despite creating more opportunities, the points just evaded us.

      Meh!
