  2. Why on earth are we bring up negatives? Our squad last night looked good and we should be talking about the positives .

  3. Every minute he did play I thought he was a cool, calm and collected defender and was brilliant to be fair.

  4. The green shoots are popping up around the caley stadium. A good team performance last night topped with two well placed finishes. it's a funny old game and early days yet but the trajectory looks promising

  5. I don't want to jinx it but personally I am more optimistic and enthusiastic about the season ahead than any time since our relegation. There are probably half a dozen teams in the division capable of winning it and we are, without any doubt, one of them. We have a decent, well balanced squad with just about the right mix of youth and experience and a head coach who has made a very promising start to his time at the club both towards the end of last season and the beginning of this.

  6. No the kiosks are closed, you can bring food in but the usual 'no bottles or containers' rule also remains. On the covid rules debate, not being funny but if you're highly vulnerable it's probably not that wise to be going to an event with hundreds of people in the first place, particularly if you have the option of watching from home. Plus I don't understand why once seated people have to keep their face coverings on in an outside setting of the stadium but in a small enclosed bar or restaurant you can sit 1 meter from another table and happily have your mask off for the duration. Makes no logical sense.

  7. Happy with that performance, very comfortable in midfield and defence. Two nice goals scored, and the only slight negative tonight was the sackload of missed chances. Great to have Tom Walsh back, what class, and Doran suddenly looks a few years younger and sharper.

  8. I'm possibly in the minority but I thought the stadium announcer guy was really good. Also have the club improved the tannoy system? I normally sit in the main stand but was in the south stand and the sound was so much better than I was used to.

  9. Enjoyed that. Very dominant and two early goals in the second half secured the win. A couple of thoughts driving home. Broadfoot and Fyffe swapped centre half roles at half time. The whole defence clearly had confidence in Fyffe which was good to see. We looked stronger down the right with Carson and Walsh than down the left with Harper and Doran, but then Doran turned up with his goal! A word for Sutherland. He put a real shift in and didn’t give Peterhead a minute. MOM for me was actually Welsh. He was pulling the strings in midfield. A very encouraging start and we still have Deas, McDonald and Mckay who have not featured so far. Roll on Saturday. Sorry to end on a low point, but the club and stewards need to get a grip of full time. The announcements were clear to stay in your seats until told to leave, but they were ignored by many and there were very few stewards who could not control things. It needs sorted for Saturday.

  10. Winning start for Dodds The season kicked off in earnest tonight for the Caley Jags with a group 'A' League Cup encounter against Peterhead. It was a winning start for Billy Dodds in his first competitive game in charge of Inverness. It was a second defeat for Peterhead who been beaten in their opener by Hearts at the weekend. After a cautious start Inverness began to control the pace of the game but chances were at a premium. The best chance came when Aaron Doran spectacularly flicked a cross goalwards but Brett Long dived to his right to prevent a goal. Tom Walsh blazed a strike over on the run after a dummy from Duku put him through. Manny Duku was causing problems on the ground and in the air. Sean Welsh missed a tremendous opportunity as he headed just over when it looked easier to score, but it remained goalless at the interval. Early in the second half Duku broke the deadlock with a drilled effort from just inside the box and Aaron Doran doubled the advantage with a stunning thirty yard shot into the top corner four minutes later. The hosts saw out the remainder of the game well in control with Peterhead rarely threatening. New signings Kirk Broadfoot, Manny Duku, Reece McAlear and Tom Walsh all started with Michael Gardyne coming on from the bench. Kirk Broadfoot and Manny Duku both impressed on their debut's with Tom Walsh and Aaron Doran playing with a spring in their step. Match Reaction CTO Robert said: "Enjoyed that. We were closing them down well when they had possession and our passing was brisk and on point. We lost a bit of our rhythm with all the subs, but there were a lot of good performances out there tonight." 11. Not my cup of tea. Totally OTT presentation last night. Tbf I do understand he reads out what he is told. Each to their own but far too in your face for me.

  12. Strange because most people I spoke with while sincerely hoping for the best were deeply concerned about someone with zero management experience or pedigree being appointed let alone given a multi year deal.

  15. Not going to lie here, as I was an early leaver, but the stewards did nothing whatsoever in preparation to let fans out in sections. If I recall right, at the Christmas game against Dundee, they were there and ready at the full time whistle and let the fans out with no problem, but today, they were nowhere, so everyone left at their own accord whilst still safely distancing themselves where possible. And in fact, one steward even tried to force everyone back to their seats before being told to not bother by a superior, as it would cause a backup of fans. It worked with the 300 fans we had last year, but it's a pointless effort when there's over 1000, and it'll take an absolute age to go through every. single. section one by one to let fans out. Another factor being the bus leaving about 15 minutes after full time, which would be about midway through releasing the north stand to the wild, so people would want to be on the bus sooner rather than later. If they want people to leave safely, split the stands down the middle and open both sets of gates at the ends, and make sure people go out the right exit, cos the way they've let fans in and out is...interesting...to say the least, they get massive pileups at the front turnstiles, but don't bother to open up the rear turnstiles to ease the flow.

  16. I seem to have sparked a debate. I am double vaccinated and not vulnerable, and was happy to follow the directions given. My point was that there was no order at full time. I’ve no issues with those leaving just before the whistle, but when the whistle blew there should have been guidance as to which fans should leave first, as happened at the games before Christmas. Tonight, despite the announcements, it was a free for all. I chose to wait, as many others did, until the rush subsided. But let’s not let this debate overshadow the game, and a very encouraging performance and deserved win.

  17. I agree it was far superior than last season which was crap! Ian Auld was good the picture quality was good and it was good to hear Ross Tokely as well

  18. At the Dundee game at Christmas, the exit was coordinated with Stewards at the bottom of each set of stairs. Tonight there were only 3 or 4 Stewards in the whole stand. If they are to control people leaving, there need to be enough to have a system that works. The problem was that some fans were leaving as the whistle blew and others just followed them. Human nature kicked in, but it could and should have been avoided. Getting back to the match itself, Duku was subbed due to an injury he got in a challenge. Hopefully it is not serious.

  19. So far, happy to be wrong about Broadfoot. His interview didn't come across well. His age seemed to be a bit high ... but he let his feet do the talking and was impressive. Gardyne looked sharp although concerns about how well he will gel with the youngsters as he looked a bit frustrated with them tonight. Manny looks to be a find, and then King Doran does what he is good at ... pure class. Looking bright for us ... and as said I am happy to be wrong!

  20. We need to sharpen up a bit in front of goal but that is hardly surprising given the disruption to our pre season. That apart, a dominant performance and a solid defensive display. Considerable grounds for optimism and Billy McKay still to come.

  23. ok, as time is of the essence I am going to reply back to the club and note that we will sponsor Harper's home shirt and also Lewis Hyde as he got more votes than all others. Aslo going to close off the sponsorship for this year at our current numbers.

  24. Perhaps if they are particularly vulnerable they should stay away from football stadiums? From where i was in the North stand i did notice quite a few people / families leaving early which did not seem to be a problem, Very orderly and spaced apart ok.... no problem with that.

  26. Thank for the comprehensive summary helpful for us only able to view on stream or not at all. I would disagree somewhat with your last comment. Perhaps the club does need to tighten up stewarding but the main fault lies with the idiots too impatient to leave in breach of very clear instructions in the face of a still accelerating global pandemic. If they are unable or unwilling to obey the rules they should stay at home for the foreseeable future for the sake of the responsible fans who do care for the safety of their fellow human beings some of whom, through no fault of their own, may remain particularly vulnerable.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.
