  1. Couple of thoughts after the larger than usual crowds from the last couple of games: Subject to any GDPR type issues the club should be pinging out emails to everyone who bought tickets for the game on Friday to encourage them to get a season ticket for the next campaign. Perhaps a survey of attitudes towards the club to find out why they might not have attended prior to Friday to see if cost, time or some other barrier exists to prevent people from attending more regularly; and This will be the last season for match day streaming to UK residents I believe as COVID starts to fade away so what will happen to ICTTV and will we see more supporters down the stadium on a typical Saturday instead of watching it on a laptop / TV / phone on the toilet?

  2. Congratulations to caleycallum but, even more importantly, thanks yet again to Gringo for his time and effort, a marathon effort this season, to allow us, even those of us who always come nowhere, to have a bit of additional fun throughout the season. Greatly appreciated Gringo.

  3. I think it's a shame the PPV going too. I think this is additional income for clubs especially away fans who won't travel but will buy a stream. Shame really...

  4. What a rollercoaster of a season. A great start, albeit a bit flattering, a dire middle, then a great finish to make the play offs. Over the two legs, St Johnstone deserved to win, but it could have been so different had we not lost the second goal or if Doran had pulled one back. I wanted us to win and get promoted but, being totally honest, I was concerned that we could be the whipping boys next season unless we got our recruitment spot on. I hope we can use the last two months as a foundation for next season, and strengthen our squad as well as replacing those key players we will be losing (eg Broadfoot, McAlear). Priorities for me are full backs and creative players who can provide the assists for Mckay and Samuels. We have a decent nucleus with guys like Ridgers, Deas, Harper, Carson, Allardice, MacGregor, Walsh, Samuels and Mckay under contract, but we may see bids for Deas and MacGregor. If Devine is likely to sign a new contract, that is great news. We also have promising youngsters in Hyde and Lewis Nicolson who should be ready for more exposure. Both have looked to have potential this season. Hopefully we have them tied up for next season too. We probably did as well this season as we could have expected, let’s go one better next year (and a cup run of two would be good too). Thanks to the CTO team for the previews and reports each week: always a great read.

  5. CTO REPORT That's it for another season from CTO Editorial Team. Grateful thanks to Iain for all the PotY Polls and Eric, who despite being unwell has worked tirelessly behind the scenes updating the stats. A truly mind numbing task, especially with nine subs now to be added. With these guys working mostly in the background that enables me to churn out Previews and Reports. If you enjoyed them, I'm tm4tj, if not then I'm CaleyD (Disclaimer. Only joking) See you next season.

  6. I said this last night and truly believe it's true Imho, we are not far off becoming a Premiership team and would agree with a column in the Press and Journal which said we're "on the right track" and should "fear nobody" as we proved this season that we can mount a serious title push, we just need to turn draws into wins and especially stop losing "silly' points to teams in the bottom half of the table as that was as much to blame as our 11 game winless run. As has been said in the match and squad update threads, we have the nucleus of a good squad so hopefully we retain as much of them as possible (though the money from Deas could come in handy), I also believe that we need to strengthen but not drastically, my hope is that we sign young players hungry for success, guys like Lowry of Rangers (he's just an example, not on my wishlist haha). As was mentioned yesterday on the sky coverage before the match, John has been down in England scouting so I see that as a positive as that's a good market to use (One player released down there that IS on my wishlist is Davis Keillor-Dunn, ex Dross County and most recently, Oldham). Then there's our own crop of youngsters such as Ally Riddle, Harry Nicolson, Ally Mackay and Strachan (the guy on bench on Friday) that could be worth signing on professional contracts :). So as IHE would say, time to regroup and come back stronger and then all aboard the promotion rollercoaster :D. Bring on next season Finally, it's been a pleasure contributing to this forum despite occasionally falling out with certain members at times, I'll try and do better next season haha.

  7. No worries. This was a long season. 51 games in fact. The Spreadsheet that does all the 'hard work' is only designed for 50 games. Just as well we didn't go on a long cup run Thank you all for your kind comments it's very much appreciated. A few errors did creep in from typo's to just plain incompetence. Although the Spreadsheet does the sums, it's down to me to put the info in correctly. Maybe I shouldn't listen to Rammstein whilst updating the games We'll go again in 2022/23 Cheers all Gringo

  8. I think this is the wrong decision for UK viewers and beyond. If COVID has taught us anything it is that the virtual space can be a revenue generator when used correctly. Whether that's a centralised service from the SPFL or clubs on their own, the monies obviously spent in upgrading infrastructure for live streaming should not go to waste. I am sure there are many people who might consider a virtual season ticket, one-off games, or even a season pass for all games (if it were centralised with revenue splits for all clubs). Also think that season ticket holders should still get this perk (either natively or as an optional add-in for £1 or £2 per game surcharge) as they already have a ticket whether they use it or not … in fact, it may be a selling point or a decision maker on whether to buy that season book or not for out of town fans who think they may only get to games every so often but know they could view online. The one caveat would be the cost to the club - if it can be self-financing or sponsored so its not a drain on resources then that's fine, but if the bandwidth and other costs are higher than the revenue then it is understandable to wind it down a bit or only do it where it might make sense.

  10. I for one respect Doran with regards to being a fantastic servant to the club etc however I do feel now is the time for him to be moved on to free up some of the wages to bring newer fresher players in for a promotion push next season. In my opinion I see Lee Connollys contract at QOS is coming to and end this season and was always quite impressed with how he played against us. 22 years of age as well so lot of upside to potentially signing him however unsure what he makes currently and if we could compete with that.

  12. I'm happy to discuss smoke bomb areas but not a fan of flares especially given 2 of them were chucked at the stewards. Like throwing fire at them?
    1 point
  13. Good post. I'm not a fan of flares myself but they are commonplace on the continent and rarely cause a problem. Problems happen when we get too restrictive on what folk can do and and what you can't. Flares can cause injury if thrown and can disrupt games if thrown onto the pitch. If you ban flares, then when people defy the ban by lighting flares then they are more likely to also throw them - it minimises the chance of them being caught literally red handed. Rather than ban flares, far better to allow them in specific areas of the ground on the understanding that they won't be thrown. I like the idea of mixed family areas as a first step to having mixed crowds as they do in other sports. As many rugby fans will tell you, the craic with fans of the opposing team can add significantly to the enjoyment of the occasion. We are all different and like different ways of watching the game. Grounds should cater to that, but with the best will in the world, clubs are constrained by the legislation. Obviously the Hillsborough tragedy was awful and avoiding any chance of a repetition was a priority, but I think the legislative response has been OTT. It has resulted in a one size fits all type of accommodation which has far less appeal to youngsters than the large open terracing of old. Football at our level needs to attract the younger generation if it is to survive. Mixed family area would be a great way to introduce the younger children to the game. Open terracing would allow the older children to move about a bit and have a bit of fun and socialising meaning they would enjoy the occasion even when the game was rubbish. I'd go for the open terracing myself as long as I had a safety railing to lean against and a roof over my head. That can all be done and be done safely. It is well beyond time that the powers that be listened to what the fans want and got the legislation changed.

  16. It's only seen as frightening and uncomfortable because that's the image we portray of them in the media and via fuddy duddies on forums. Create the space to allow it in a manner which poses no risk to others and let them get on with it; after all, it's not like our stadiums are so rammed we can't accommodate it. I think it was Scotty I've seen talking about his happening in Canada? If we could also have mixed family areas, that would be great. Stop telling each new generation they are animals that can't be trusted to sit next to opposition fans. People aren't born to misbehave, but if we keep telling them that it's what is expected, they will soon conform. Let's put wheels in motion on all sides to put an end to that in football and enjoy mixed crowds like we see in so many other sports around the world.

  22. WellI enjoyed my first season contributing to this forum and respect all other views and opinions even if I don't always agree with them. I think we all have a passion for ICT and want to see them in the Premiership. There is no doubt many mistakes were made this year in team selection at times and tactics, but we seemed to get through that period and more or less be on the same page as we came up the home straight. Mid season we all (me included) questioned the will and committment of the team and quire rightly so,but these last dozen or so games they have risen to the challenge and done themselves and the club proud so well done to the team! Finally, I always wondered if we were actually ready for the Premiership this year and going up too early would have meant a season languishing around the relegation zone again,so maybe best we try and keep building and getting stronger and then when we are ready for promotion we can do it in style. See you all next season.

  23. Haven't watched the highlights yet, but TBF to Chalmers, the guy he loses, ends up in the middle of where our two CB's should be, although that was between Deas and Devine so not sure where Broadfoot was. I should have put money on bloody Stevie 'he hasn't scored in 24 games' May scoring. The absolute killer was that deflected shot. Anyway...I think a real plus from this season of this season is the re-emergence of a large crew of young/new/vocal supporters, which if they can be encouraged to keep coming next season will be both a financial and motivation boost for the team. Looking forward to next season, I'm so proud of the club, and love following it

  24. What are we like. Reaching the play offs and giving us the belief we could do this. Beating the odds in the 4th match of the play offs at Arbroath and out of it at half time in the first leg against StJohnstone! Only to still be in it level with a great chance of promotion at the start of the 2nd half of the 6th and final play off game of the season! Nobody can say we didn’t give it our best attempt. Well done all !

  25. I would be horrified if the club just walked away, and I can't imagine that it will. They did what they could to help Robbo last year, and indeed he mentioned that last night. Regardless of the contract situation, I would expect them to make their medical and physio resources available to Shane, to complement whatever he may receive from the NHS or privately. I would also expect the club's legal team to ensure that he receives any benefits that he may be entitled to. There must be an option of paying him a reduced wage - not a full first-team salary - for a few months, to keep the wolf from his door. Then, if he regains fitness, he can decide if he wants to play again and the club can decide whether to re-sign him as a player. Finally, I know absolutely nothing about football insurance. As an employer, the club must carry insurance against its employees being injured, but whether that extends to players in matches - which would surely drive the premium sky-high - I have no idea.

  26. I hope that the club offers some sort of contract to Shane, or, at the very least, makes all its resources available to him for his rehabilitation. There's a moral obligation to do so.
    1 point
  27. Or possibly just one match in each round, at a neutral venue, not home and away. Ridiculous to expect a team to come through six extra games at the end of the season. Look at the injuries and suspensions that we picked up in them.
    1 point
  28. That was tough to take. I actually said at h-t that we'd played really well but might pay for not taking the chances. At h-t Davidson clearly reminded his players that a similar 45 might see them in the Championship. It was a great support from ICT, too. Not sour grapes but we should just have promotion playoffs as in England, not a second chance for sides who deserve to be relegated.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

    • Inverness CT -V- Raith Rovers - Preview
The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

    • Queens Park -V- Inverness CT - Preview
Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.
