  1. With apologies for the double post but given how derided they have been during the ICT careers I think it's only fair that (Brad) Mckay and Devine get some acknowledgement for their performances at the back. We have looked a lot better defensively in recent weeks and if people are going to criticise players when it's going wrong it's only fair to praise them when things are going well. Whilst players like Todorov and MacKay are, rightly, getting a lot of applause the likes of Devine and Mckay should also be included.

  2. We are probably feeling a little disappointed not to get all 3 points today, but our recent good form makes it easy to forget what a hugely difficult and challenging season it has been for the club. Today's results mean that we are now mathematically safe from relegation. Instead, we are now very much in the mix for the promotion play-offs and have a cup match to look forward too after having deservedly beaten our Premiership neighbours. Anything more than what has been achieved already will be a real bonus. Huge congratulations to all at the club who have made this possible.

  3. I could just about see the justification for disrupting the football schedule for the funeral of the monarch herself but for a consort surely today's silence followed by a similar show of respect on the day of the funeral would suffice. The death of a very elderly man is extremely sad for his family and those who knew and loved him but we have not postponed football matches for the sake of the 140 000 or so who have died in the past year or so either directly or indirectly from Covid and I am unconvinced that it is appropriate or necessary to do so next Saturday either.

  4. I can just about see the justification for not playing at the same time as the funeral, but moving all those fixtures is going to inconvenience loads of people. So the ideal solution would be to play the funeral under the lights.

  6. Whatever the reason, things seem to have gelled in the last month. However, we did have a shorter pre season than other clubs and a long injury list for many months. And we will never know the impact the personal challenges facing Robbo and Kells were having on the players. I just hope both are getting over the challenges they have faced and feel able to return at the right time for them. In the meantime, I hope they are enjoying the run and we are able to get into the play off places for them.

  9. We were 2nd best for much of that but 4 terrific strikes was the difference. Credit to Morton though, they kept going to the end and provided a greater threat than last Friday's opponents. They had a good bit more of the possession and put us under a lot of pressure as the corner count demonstrates. Our back line played pretty well, but at times it was back to the wall stuff. A lot has been said about Allan, but tonight he looked some way short of match fit. We suddenly looked a lot more threatening when Sutherland replaced him. A win against Queen of the South at the weekend or bot

  10. ..and mine. Another confident performance. Shane giving up his day job and reverting to full time football was a gamble for him and for us but one that is increasingly paying off. In his current form he is unlucky not to start but a wonderful asset to bring on from the bench. It's increasingly apparent that the fact that the start of our timely run of form coincided with bringing in Billy Dodds is no coincidence at all. Pity Dundee got all three points but, if we continue to play like this we won't have to worry about what other teams are doing.

  11. I agree but this week will give us a good indication as to whether the play offs are achievable. We need two good results against Morton and Queen of the South. We lost to both last time out, in games we should have done better in, so time to right two wrongs!

  12. I respect your view but continue to beg to differ. Many many individuals have done enormous amounts to improve the lot of society and we, quite rightly, honour and mark these contributions when they pass away but without the necessity to disrupt life already unavoidably disrupted by the global health emergency.

  13. The teams all had a minute silence today as a mark of respect so why should they need to shift the time of the game as there will not be anyone from the clubs going to the funeral.

  14. Just relieved that our rivals didn’t win either.

  15. I wouldn't particularly say it flattered us. We could have scored another two or three but that's being greedy. Plenty of huff and puff by Morton but little cutting edge. The pitch was a great leveller early on. After the break Morton got their reward for hard graft but when Toddy scored his sensational goal the wheels fell off the Morton buggy. Dan was the icing on the cake, so thoroughly deserved win at an often difficult venue. Same again on Saturday on a better surface and things will be looking up. Its goals that count and we got three more than them, good enough for me.

  16. What wonderful timing for the team to be gelling. Scoring spread across the forwards with two assists from Sutherland is very healthy. Hats off to McCann and Dodds who must take some credit for this.

  17. What a turn around for Toddy. He was superb on Friday and yet another goal tonight. Really delighted for him, his attitude and commitment is great. Brilliant that he's now adding goals to his game. He's hitting from just at the right time.

Down to the nitty gritty now and another crucial game ahead as we travel to Palmerston Park Dumfries for what is the start of the proverbial six-pointers with only four games left in the Championship. Queens on Saturday at 3:00pm, our sixth away game out of the last seven, then Dundee (H), Hearts (A), Ayr United (H). It's a difficult closing run to the season when you consider our immediate target, Dunfermline, close out the season against bottom teams Arbroath and Alloa. 22. Whilst it would be good if they did, it is very unlikely Dundee will lose all their games. We need to focus on winning our last three league games. If we could pick results to suit us, Dunfermline have been struggling recently and are at home to Dundee and Queen of the South before we play next in the league, so the best outcome for us would be Dundee beating Dunfermline, Raith beating Queen of the South and Queen of the South beating Dunfermline. Chances are that won’t all happen, but if it did we’d still be fourth doing into the Dundee game. Our best option is definitely to fo

  25. This may be controversial, but hopefully the main sports bodies in Scotland do what organisations like the Football League have done down south and speak in favour of some form of certification to allow fans in (vaccine, already had the virus, negative test) and we get crowds in. 12000 are proposed for Hampden for the Euros, which is 25%. Even if that percentage is applied for league football, that would let us get over 1800 in which should allow season ticket holders to attend home games. Fingers crossed.

  37. Jeez that indirect free kick was bizarre - no wonder Morton guys are spewing! After he heads it surely it’s not a direct pass back? However Great finished from Allardice - there’s not a lot of space there. Need a third to finish it off. These commentators are really good. I stand corrected on the pass back rule!

  38. It was great to beat our rivals in the cup on Friday but this game is far more important. Vital that we get 3 points this evening to maintain our momentum towards a promotion play off place. Much much more important than a cup run as welcome as that is. We will probably survive another season in the Championship but would almost certainly be further diminished by it. For as long as a return to the Premiership is a possibility we need to be firmly focused on it and the players need to be every bit as committed this evening as they clearly were on Friday.

  41. Well, it's all speculation obviously, but if you factor in Hearts away as being a possible defeat, then the other three games are massive, but particularly the Dundee game which could be decisive. I am convinced, though, that the others will drop points so there will be a window we can squeeze through if we play to our best. Whatever happens, I will be happy with the way we have finished the season, in view of what most of it has been like. So it is all a bonus as far as I am concerned. But if we make the play offs then I think we have as good a chance as any of the others.

  42. What a great result! Following via various apps is hard work, especially as it seems Morton came on really strong after half time. The corner count is widely in their favour! Fortunately Toddy was on fire tonight...I'm think of adopting him! And Daniel did it again..... Hopefully Storey will be spurred on to go on a scoring run for himself. McCann and Dodds seem to have worked out the right combo's, but the bench looked a wee sparse tonight...hopefully guys like Welsh, were given the night off to be ready for Saturday, and we'll need contributions from guys like Duffy, McHattie, and

    • Queen of the South 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Tight as a ducks erse: This crucial game ended in stalemate as did the entire Championship fixture list. In a tight first half both keepers had saves to make with Ridgers probably the busier. Queens opened the scoring on the hour when the defence allowed Fitzpatrick to run forty yards unchallenged to fire high past Ridgers. Toddy levelled minutes later from a Storey cross, heading down into the bottom corner for his tenth goal this season. No further scoring with Inverness finishing the game on top but unable to get the winner.

    • Morton 1-4 Inverness CT - Report
HOT TODDY SCORES A PEACH: This crucial week kicked off at Cappielow and despite the condition of the pitch Inverness managed to score twice in the first half. We benefitted from what looked like an infringement for a pass back seven minutes before the break. Scott Allardice lashed the ball high into the net after much confusion and two minutes later Nikolay Todorov turned in the box to lash the ball into the net after some defensive bloopers. Two up at the break but the next goal could be important and it was Muirhead that gave Morton some hope. However Todorov superbly volleyed home after chesting down the ball to restore our two goal cushion and Danny Mackay scored a tremendous fourth with a curling shot from the edge of the box. Back up to third for Inverness with Dundee also winning at Ayr.

    • Ross County 1-3 Inverness CT - Scottish Cup - Report
Unfortunately no fans were allowed in for the first Highland derby since April 2019 when County beat Inverness 2-1. This time round Inverness demolished County with a clinical display of finishing to come from behind and win the tie 3-1. It was a dour first half that sprung to life after thirty eight minutes when former Caley Jags favourite Billy Mckay scored with a close range header after a corner had been flicked on. It took Inverness less than a minute to respond when Nikolay Todorov lashed the ball home following a free kick. In truth the game needed the goals as it had been a war of attrition prior to these strikes. County upped the pace in the second half but it's easy to see where their problems lie, a lack of a cutting edge and poor defending would cost them. In the fifty-fourth minute Dan Mackay burst forward on the left, ducked inside two defenders before finishing with aplomb. The best County could offer was a header wide by Jordan White as Inverness continued to look like the team in the top division. The icing on the cake was complete when substitute Shane Sutherland turned in the box to drive home as County failed to clear their lines. Best chance for County was a late scramble in the box but we're getting used to them now and cleared the ball much to the chagrin of the wee team over the bridge.
