  2. Scarlet Pimple replied to tm4tj's topic in Caley Thistle
So what you are referring to is the Hitler-era HINDENBURG travel balloon. Oh well, that didn't last long either-the hydrogen used to inflate it caught on fire and the rest is history.
  3. Well Caley Stan , at the risk of posting a ribald remark, you know the answer to that one......:----- S F A Or, to put it more succinctly : -- Same old, same old!
  4. I don't always agree with Charles Bannerperson but I have given him a green point in each of his last two posts because he talks common sense and I find his passionate presentations perfectly-polished, polite and proppa. Also, Charlie has a good brain (c'mon people, it's true) and the Pimple has tried to hack into it more than once and has been rebuffed in a state of perplexed confusion. No doubt it is his profession that has allowed him to build up his impenetrable, shy reserve (sometimes grossly mistaken by some of the younger set in the ICT proletariat as snobbery) but one day he will give it all up and finally be able to relax with a wee drammie in his hand and more than a tale of two cities on his professorial, literary lips. I raise my glass to a Man of Letters blue and Stalwart Statistics. A Lad O' Pairts, and no mistake. And to Caley Mad in Berks I seek to make his day by advising that he also has received a green dot for reminding us all of his advanced age and knowledge concerning the Jupie Mitchell, Ginger MacKenzie team which was my introduction to Caley at the even more advanced age of 11 years old at that precise moment in time. Who can forget the worn wooden steps of the tree-lined Telford Street terraces of yore? Yes, CMIB,these were the days and regarding those few remaining fans who still bears grudges about the Merger, I say a pox on all their houses. Just get off your huffy, backward-facing chairs and support the heroic ICT who have done us all VERY proud from the City of Inverness over these 17 long years of unbelievable advancement Against All Odds. Do not bear grudges because you are the ones who are losing out on some great games of football and, sadly, you are the loser not ICT.
  5. Thank you Scotty --not a problem. I thought it would in all likelihood be something like that. You have too much on your plate I think.! Which probably means that you are not coming through to Fanny Couver for the opening MLS match then? Wanderer--appreciated! I am now onto it--I like Caley Thistle goals Ha! By the way , guys, the Celtic match in Inverness on Wednesday is being broadcast video-wise from the usual place and we are not Prepared2Pay anything which is good.
  6. Physically he is very tall and strongly-built and the one failing that I felt he had when I saw and spoke to him in Vancouver a few years ago when he was in the under 19 team was that he was not determined and aggressive enough. He does have a hard and very good shot but his shooting can be wild and wasteful at times. Maybe he lacks a bit of self-confidence too. What I saw was that he did not impose himself on a game, tended to run around in circles a bit and not just run like hell at the goal, intimidating the defence with his size, to try a shot. I am sure that opposition defences could find him a handful though if his passion and desire could be upped--compare with the likes of Hayes , Doran and McDonald currently playing in our frontal areas and you will get the picture--and he is probably much bigger than any of them. However, I am pleased for him and wish him well in his future career. I can't see him back at ICT though--not quite the spark there that I feel might be necessary for him to succeed at Tulloch but you never know how wrong you can be, so.......
  7. Smarty pants. Grrrr
  8. Kilda Give it to your boss! He will be impressed by your generosity and your accompanying selfless offer to run his business for the day. And, when our boys win the game, he will never forget you. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, you will work like a beaver and increase his sales attracting his eternal eye-opening gratitude. Thus all' well that ends well and -have a nice day.
  9. Not if they arrive , bedraggled and in great discomfort after a harrowing journey, to find that Caley Thistle are already 2 up.
  10. I can't find the video of Caley's match from last Saturday versus Motherwell. Is it not going to be posed this week, Scotty ? Hope so but maybe I am missing something? Scarlet the Puzzled.
  11. Where is Formartine ??
  12. A bit odd that he did not impress at the Hibs. Maybe the ...well... slightly larger stage either did not suit him or the team and tactics didn't? OPr, he simply did not fit in. Might do well again at Caley but going back is not always the greatest idea.
  13. Sounds like it would be an easy ride for your digestive system IHE. Just a ginger snap, like?
  14. Have always enjoyed these reports. Clearly well researched and heart felt too.
  15. A Canadian what IHE? You had me worried there for a moment . At first take I thought it was something about prepubescentCanadianpeniledropsy -- forced out of you by my your awareness of my advancing years but not aware of the Pimple's fitness programme designed to keep these years at bay. However, when the brain dementia inevitably kicks in I have your number dear boy.
  16. My! MY! Both IHE and Scotty are really animated today. Long may it continue. You two guys have just made my day . Ha! Ha! --a breath of fresh air indeed. Scotty you will have to post more often my man. Had a wee drammie before kick -off did we,.. eh? That's the spirit I say.
  17. IHE---- Ha! Ha! Ha! At time thou canst be brilliant - for an old weeezing medic.
  18. Not quite sure that we should be thinking in terms of being satisfied with 11th place at all. There are quite a few teams that have greater resources than Caley thistle--e.g. Dundee United, Hibs,Kilmarnock --- who have played goodd football in the past but started this season very poorly and could have been in a very bad position now had things continued as they were doing. All these teams have had a resurgence and higher ambitions than just avoiding relelgation. With the right training (bring back Brewster..eh?), the right motivation (Terry seems to do that job very well), the right enthusiasm and very few injuries this team is just as good aS MANY ANOTHER AND FURTHERMORE THE SPIRIT THAT THEY HAVE DISPLAYED IN THE PAST 2 YERAS HAS BEEN IMPRESSIVE AND A DEFINITE FACTOR IN THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE TEAM . SUMMARY-ICT HAVE THE NUCLEUS OF A GOOD TEAM AND WE SHOULD STOP WHINING ABOUT "PUNCHING ABOVE OUR WEIGHT". THIS IS A PHRASE I DON'T LIKE BECAUSE IT SOUNDS SO DEFEATEST. P.S. Sorry about the capitals--totally inadvertent.Mea Culpa.
  19. So IHE ==come clean please. how old are you really?
  20. And I see that RonnyC is also up and about in the East?
  21. Yes, IHE, we are out here in the boonies -overseas. And lurking. However, there is no radio action at all and I am filling in the time between glimpsing your comments by fiddling with the kettle, skinning my early morning banana, speaking to the wife who is about to depart to work and stroking the cat. O.K. Back to checking this thread===oh! A goal. Wow--it's all worth getting up for then --time is 7.45 am in The Wild West of North America.
  22. Al I hope is that the niggly comments on here don't infect the players because the team does not need that if it wants to get up off the floor. When I had a service business I hired a good-looking boy who said all the right things. Shortly after I had personlly trained him and obtained his agreement that he fully understood the work before I let him "go out" on his own, I was appalled to find out shortly afterwards that said lad was not even making the slightest attempt to do the simple work assigned to him. So on the same evening I fired him, accompanied by some pointed comments, and his retort was "you know ,Scarlet, you will get more with honey than with vinegar" which took the wind out of my sails because I then realised that his appearance and assurances had fooled me. And I should have kept a close eye on ho\im from the beginning. The moral of the story is ....you can lead a horse to water but if his heart isn't in it, or he does not have a highly developed character or a very good and responsible attitude, then you had better cut your losses. Terry does not have that option, no matter how much he jiggles the contents of the pot, he needs the players he has to do the work and this is not a big club with a big budget. Not saying that any, or all, of the players fall into the type of category I mention but many injuries have totally disrupted the team, repeat losses have undermined the confidence of these players and, as mentioned above, probably this team is no longer fresh and think in their hearts that relegation will not now regardless. The question is ...Is the team now off the boil and , if so , what lies ahead for Terry and Mo?
  23. Terry will have a good dram tonight. He will need a good sleep to face the 'morrow.
  24. Renegade--when you consider the fact that the majority of the points were obtained away from home by ICT, your post is somewhat ironic is it not? During these away games Caley Thistle basically played a more defensive role, according to the reports that I read anyway, then very often hit on the break did they not? The goals came because the team had players, like Hayes, who drove forward into the defence of the opposition with speed and skill and determination. But the team did not apparently always attack throughout the game and their defensive formation and tactics played a very significant part in their victories. As you know I favour attack rather than defence but I realise that injuries can upset the team, the positional play and the rhythm of their game so we had better not say too much at this stage when the team is going through a bad spell of injuries and the pain of some depressing defeats.
